the English translation of the Quran is not as clear as the Arabic text. For instance when you quoted the part that said "Take not Jews & Christians as your friends" That is wrong. The word used in Arabic is "wali" which has many meanings most of which is protector not friends. But when translate from one language to another you have to pick a meaning and most English translations use friends.What this verse is saying is do not take anyone as your protectors other than god!

Islam is nothing like Christianity. Christianity was a step forward from all the "eye for an eye" and four wives bullshit of the Old Testament. Islam was a massive step backwards and even far less enlightened than the Old Testament, because at its core it's simply a tool for Arab imperialist ambitions. I agree Islam is far worse than Christianity and a step backwards. I also the Old Testament is filled with "bullshit" as you put it. That bullshit spawned Islam which just took the implicit tribal barbarity much farther.
However, how enlightened the historical Jesus was is up for debate since he probably never said a sizable percentage of the teachings attributed to him. Furthermore, it's entirely possible the historical Jesus never intended to get crucified. He might just have screwed up.

Anything is up for debate. If one chooses to believe in Jesus as he is depicted in the gospels, it is their choice. Considering the era in which the gospels were written, it was an incredibly enlightened message. It still is. Islam is the opposite of enlightenment. The name itself means submission (of the will), which is the first rule of all idiotic mindless cults. One of the worlds "great religions" my ass.

I was not refering to the mongols burning books, I was talking about nowadays 20th/21st century..more books are published in tiny spain than in the entire Islamic world. I know enough about your religion and know where this 'invitation' thing fits into the picture..Why on earth would I wish to become a moslem, what could Islam offer me to improve my personal wellbeing? my point is that huraham paints islam as a beacon of enlightenment, if that is the case why are less books published for over 1 billion people than 50 mil in Spain.
