@shrukain9 Anyone has chance to turn heretic, depending on how you play their corruption. It's also possible, that nobody turned heretic if you kept them pure. Although AFAIK, the canon story according to the next expansion (Retribution) is that Avitus turned heretic.
Avitus feared his dark deeds that he did during the Kronus war. He wanted all of it to lies so that he could forgive himself. Blind fool. May he find peace where ever he is going.
Completed in a day a terrible game. The WH 40K sci-fi universe is also utter crap. The marines (Benedictine monks in space suits) are a bunch of fascist prima donnas who give a lot of chat about the moron emperor but after all the talk give the most pathetic reasons for betrayal
I would leave the Space Marines like Avitus, but not join the moron Chaos instead go find someone who understands and can fight the warp like the Eldar and not use brute force against the immaterial
@MoneyR8 whichever squad has the highest corruption is the traitor, but Avitus' betrayal is canon. if none of your squads are corrupt then martellus will be the traitor
The relics on Kronus revealed that the Blood Ravens have strong links to a Space Marine chapter that sided with the forces of chaos (thousand sons) this looks very bad on the chapter and they could very much be purged if the inquisition suspects them of chaos.
This is why the blood ravens had to destroy the imperial guard on kronus.
The depressing thing is that Tarkus has the most tragic of the betrayals and is the only one who feels any remorse about putting down Avitus. Conversely, Avitus just calls him pathetic.
This mission was the most emotional of them all for me. Avitus was an interesting case- a Space Marine who'd actually been broken by war and all the trauma. It seems ironic that the cynic of the bunch turned out to be the most human- to me, anyway.
@names04 Am I the only one who felt bad for Lord Bale in DOW? I mean, yes, he WAS incompetent and yes he WAS very weak-willed because he could never come to a decision without consulting Sindri first, but the way he relied on the sorcerer's advice was actually rather touching in my opinion. Sindri had maneuvered Bale to a point of no return by the time even Bale realised that the Blood Ravens problem was outgrowing him, but still couldn't find it within himself to make a decision without Sindri.
"It was the cake that damned you I think, you have let a betrayal of a guaranteed delicacy to defeat you"

@IceHarmony Avitus. When Tarkus reveals himself in Retribution, he mentions that the one who served with him on Kronus (the only one's who did were Thule, Tarkus, and Avitus), betrayed him and he killed him.
how much must he be corupted to betray me? I dont want Martellus to die (I like Tech Marines, they are Geeks of W40K=D) and so i want to corupt avitus (or Cyrus eventualy). How much corupted they must be to betray me instead of Martellus?

@bigbad1000do7a well in this avatus says victory bay the imperial gaurd base kinda area and chapter master kyrus show avatus all the dead bodies of the gaurd and tolled him secrets of chaos.something like that
@bigbad1000do7a That other guy was only partially right. The Kronus campaign was significant for the Blood Ravens because there was sensitive information regarding their founding there. They captured all of it and stored it away, probably with Kyras, in order to avoid being labeled heretics by the rest of the Imperium, which is why they made up excuses to get rid of the Guard forces in Victory bay. Most of the Marines were not told of it and Thule was guilt ridden. Thats what he refers to.
Avitus was one of my personal favourite and the best soldier I've ever commanded. Permanently gone.... and in retribution what happened to Thaddeus and Thule?
I'll give you up to speed on Sergeant Avitus in his Terminator Armor, from my artistic point of view, he's a 40K version of AVATAR's Colonel Miles Quaritch in his Robot Suit. in my opinion, both of them have one thing in common, They're warmongering psychopaths with one instinct in mind: "MAIM KILL BURN MAIM KILL BURN!"
Teh while other guys betrayed the chapter Avitus was the first one to tear into them with his "Time to die traitor, don't lie to me traitor, save your breath traitor" shit. But when it came to his betrayal he whined like a green IG recruit pussy in a boot camp... What's wrong now you IG hating moron - can't bring up a good enough explanation?
yo Cheney, not to sound demanding but you should get permission from the creators or these musics you used for Avitus betrayal and Tarkus betrayal to make music mods for retribution changing out the lame songs of the Imperial Guard with those two.
Answer me this, my brothers, since Lexicanum cannot. I once heard that the rank of Force Commander is awarded to the most senior Space Marine Captain in the event of a campaign requiring multiple Space Marine companies. Is this true, or have I been deceived?
@KonElFan i dont think its the most senior(thule was young when he commanded on kronus, dow 2 fc is also young),but rather the guy whom the chapter sees fit in that situation.
No, the Emperor and the Imperium does that to its own. Those like Avitus that are branded traitors are merely those with an open mind to the truth of things, who have lost all hope and realized that the Emperor doesn't care at all for his mindless, brainwashed puppets.
@Andreazor yeah, I guess you're right about Avitus, but I can't agree about the Emperor though, if he does not care about his servants, all ships and souls that interact with the warp will be lost the the Dark Gods

Almost moving! No, it IS moving. Great voice acting. I knew about this being canon, when I played, and had Avitus more corrupt than anyone. But i still got Martellus.

@JoAxInJoKeR The Squad with the highest level of Corruption become the Traitor. If you are full pure,Martellus is the Traitor.so You must give him corrupt Equip and take him at every mission with Corruption missions.
@Donnerbalken28 Bullshit. On 1st walktrough i got Tarkus to be traitor even thou he was pure and i had Cyrus with some corruption points . On 2nd walktrough i tryed to prevent tarkus becoming traitor so i puted on him all reedeming items i got AND STILL HE BETRYED
for me,avitus isnt a betrayer.he just wants himself to kill, because he couldnt see for longer what the chapter do for the dark gods.sad ending...but better than martellus
@TheFoilGuy Martellus was more beliebable in my book being gone for a year & left for dead. Him still trying to decrypt the messages is the only thing that smacks said betrayal on the ass.
Is it just me, or are Avitus and Cyrus kind of noble in their betrayal intentions? From what I understand, they both just want to kill Khyrus, even if Cyrus wants to kill a couple others along the way. It also sounds like Avitus is trying to prove that he isn't the real traitor, but the only guy who knows what's really going on.
Man avitus's betrayal is probably the most exciting and sad. He really is not tainted by the powers of Chaos, but is just sick of the universe and the death in it. Escpecially that last line.
"It was the cake that damned you I think, you have let a betrayal of a guaranteed delicacy to defeat you"
"SPARE ME YOUR MORALIZING! The Cake wasn't a guarantee, it was a PROMISE!! A Promise made by the Chef of the God Emperor himself!"
"Truth is a Lie, Faith is a Lie, THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!"
"It doesn't matter who cooks and serves...... cake is eaten as it had always been baked. There's.... no other delicacy in this ... wretched...Existence!"
"You were too eager to believe in the lies of a cake, Thaddeus!"
"You could not no, you were not on Typhon!"
"No, I was on the kitchen of fury facing down the hivemind itself. I fought that terrible chef for weeks, child! I felt it die as burnt cakes reached the central hiveship! There was no Daemonic hand in that bakery!"
"The Emperor protects the souls of the faithful from food-borne illnesses. And Jonah Orion has proven himself true."
"The Emperor? Your 'executive chef' is nothing but a withered corpse in a corner deli- he cannot protect anyone! Eat this batter, and nothing can save Jonah Orion!"
Avitus is the canonical traitor according to Retribution because in there Tarkus who is the Ancient reveals on the judgement of Carrion after Typhon gets burned, that The reason he took a vow of silence is because he was forced to kill a brother who served with him on kronus and became fast friends during the nid attack on the sub-sector, and that Friend was Avitus. He took the Vow of Silence out of Regret and Remorse, Regret that he couldn't save Avitus, and remorse because it had to be done.
@BigDickCheney If you think about it, it makes sense that he doesn't come along. Giant walkers with autocannons, flamers and claws belching smoke out of their rears aren't known for their stealth, which this mission is supposed to be about before meeting the traitor :P
Wow...out of all of the endings, all of the traitors, this one by far is...the most emotional. While all the others just go chaos crazy, Avitus is all but destroyed by the actions of Kronus and the dark truth of the chapter. He hates it, and hates himself for what he has become, but he couldn't stop it either. He saw everything he believed and trusted destroyed. Thus he sought his own destruction. A sad end to a great warrior. May his soul rest in peace.
Feels bad man :(

@JoAxInJoKeR The Squad with the highest level of Corruption become the Traitor. If you are full pure,Martellus is the Traitor.so You must give him corrupt Equip and take him at every mission with Corruption missions.
Donnerbalken28 9 months ago
@Donnerbalken28 Bullshit. On 1st walktrough i got Tarkus to be traitor even thou he was pure and i had Cyrus with some corruption points . On 2nd walktrough i tryed to prevent tarkus becoming traitor so i puted on him all reedeming items i got AND STILL HE BETRYED

His last words portrait well how desperate and gloom the universe is (both in the Warhammer universe and the real world)

for me,avitus isnt a betrayer.he just wants himself to kill, because he couldnt see for longer what the chapter do for the dark gods.sad ending...but better than martellus
Donnerbalken28 9 months ago
Couldn't think of a better canon betrayal.
TheFoilGuy 9 months ago
@TheFoilGuy Martellus was more beliebable in my book being gone for a year & left for dead. Him still trying to decrypt the messages is the only thing that smacks said betrayal on the ass.
FierceBirdOfFlame 9 months ago
@FierceBirdOfFlame That's what I thought at first too, but Retribution says otherwise.

How this could have sucked:
Avitus: "I know you are out there, come at me bro!"

And then...the dead will come for you as well
Donnerbalken28 9 months ago
Is it just me, or are Avitus and Cyrus kind of noble in their betrayal intentions? From what I understand, they both just want to kill Khyrus, even if Cyrus wants to kill a couple others along the way. It also sounds like Avitus is trying to prove that he isn't the real traitor, but the only guy who knows what's really going on.

Hello, Brothers for a new hail phrase!

Tarkus: "Terminator Armor"
Avitus: "Yeeesss, the Holiest of the Chapter Relics in the hands of a loathsome betrayer! There is the honor of the Blood Ravens!"
-best traitor ever!-
Kizerlk07 9 months ago
@Kizerlk07 "Terminator armour." As if him, his squad and everyone else around him arn't/ couldn't be covered in the stuff.

Why is it, that when i first saw Avitus betray us, I felt that it was because he had fallen to Khorne.
When he spoke his last words, all the hate went out of me, to be replaced with sorrow and pity.

What song is this?
DDXDelta 10 months ago
does anyone know the name and stats of the item you get from avitus after you complete the mission?
studenthobo 10 months ago
Man avitus's betrayal is probably the most exciting and sad. He really is not tainted by the powers of Chaos, but is just sick of the universe and the death in it. Escpecially that last line.

Avitus:Truth is A LIE! Faith is A LIE! The damn cake from portal 1 and 2 is A LIE!
Crappy1441 10 months ago 2

TheVoiceOfReason93 10 months ago 3
@TheVoiceOfReason93
"Bake, accursed batter, BAKE!! You! What have you done? Ah, I see... you do nothing. It is Jonah."
"He fights you still, daemon."
"A desperate and foolish gambit, Space Marines. The best he can do is forestall the rising of this batter."
"Long enough for Jonah to eat it from the bowl with spoons."
"By all means: eat this batter. It will then be my pleasure to send the stubborn body of Jonah Orion to the hospital with Salmonella."

Canon traitor.
SS0UTHB0UND 10 months ago
Not that I like to nitpick or anything, but isn't Avitus suppose to comment if you go CQC on him too many times?
Rogovets 10 months ago 7
@Rogovets I've seen that line. I believe its dependent on whether you go after him without attacking the Black Legion bases. I forgot to add it :P
BigDickCheney 10 months ago 3
Avitus is the canonical traitor according to Retribution because in there Tarkus who is the Ancient reveals on the judgement of Carrion after Typhon gets burned, that The reason he took a vow of silence is because he was forced to kill a brother who served with him on kronus and became fast friends during the nid attack on the sub-sector, and that Friend was Avitus. He took the Vow of Silence out of Regret and Remorse, Regret that he couldn't save Avitus, and remorse because it had to be done.

is it on purpose that davian thule is never with you on a traitor mission? :O or can´t he be? ^^"
Tobithegoodguy 10 months ago 3
@Tobithegoodguy I hated using him, his dreadnought gets in the way of everyone.
BigDickCheney 10 months ago 4
@BigDickCheney lol, but his dreadnought can basically solo most of the missions, so its more like everyone gets in the way of thule lol
bonzwah1 10 months ago
@BigDickCheney If you think about it, it makes sense that he doesn't come along. Giant walkers with autocannons, flamers and claws belching smoke out of their rears aren't known for their stealth, which this mission is supposed to be about before meeting the traitor :P
HalfTangible 8 months ago
@Tobithegoodguy he is Incorruptible. note he doesnt have any skills associated with tainting.
jswlouie 10 months ago
Victory Bay was the Imperial Guard stronghold. Avitus' disdain and hatred for the Imperial Guard may be some kind of complicated guilt.

@THEHOLYSPLIFF No.
TheCayogMagor 10 months ago
Wow...out of all of the endings, all of the traitors, this one by far is...the most emotional. While all the others just go chaos crazy, Avitus is all but destroyed by the actions of Kronus and the dark truth of the chapter. He hates it, and hates himself for what he has become, but he couldn't stop it either. He saw everything he believed and trusted destroyed. Thus he sought his own destruction. A sad end to a great warrior. May his soul rest in peace.
Cenkic 11 months ago 33
@Cenkic
Expect his soul to be devoured by a Bloodthirster in the first few seconds of emerging in the Warp and tortured forever.
Just goes to show - WH40K is one sad place.
