Triggers are essentially mechanized drum sounds. A drum sample is used and blasted out to the audience each time the bass drum is hit. The sound will be the same no matter how hard or soft it is hit.

While there's some truth to that, Slayer is a monster live. I like Megadeth more as a band, but they were an absolute joke live. Dave couldnt sing, and there was zero stage presence and crowd interaction. Slayer was much better, sorry.

Lol. I was at this clinic and it was great. Dave's right about Ulrich's drumming. Sure, it was great what he did in the 80's. Nowadays it's painful to your ears. Sure, it's in pace most of the time and seeing Metallica live is still cool, but what the hell he's doing on the drums has nothing to do with 'feel', it just sucks. He totally rapes most of Metallica's songs live. I like improvisations, but they have to add something to a song, not fuck it up.

watch Fight Fire with Fire Mexico DVD and you'll see that Lars got SO much better. And it ISN'T redone in the studio, I compared the DVD audio with a fan's footage from the show and Lars did the double bass note for note. He's back :)

I think he was just goofing a bit, he's a drummer, not a politician, we're lucky people like Dave Lombardo go out and interact with the fans at this level. If he says something you don't like once in a while, just consider yourself lucky to get a chance to comb through a great clinic in the comfort of your own home, and pick it apart.

Dave was spot on about Lars. Of course, the reason why Lars has been so bad live lately is because he doesn't practice. Of course, I think he's getting back into that now, which is good. And, according to Matt Sorum, Lars hasn't been relying on Pro Tools for this next album, which is all supposed to be long, complex, fast, and furious. I seriously hope Lars gets back on track. I know he can do it.
