Julie Andrews (the movie) and Mary Martin (broadway) have done to this song what Yule Brenner has done to the King of Siam and what Carol Channing did for Dolly. Once it is done by the master no one else can do it justice and your performance will be compared to their brilliance. I am not saying she isn't a good singer, I am just saying that this song is a tough one to pull off because of the people who sang it before her.

They really should! I love watching her act on that show but became a fan long because of her voice way before the show came out :) maybe if some of the characters get married they could have her sing at the wedding... just a though :)

Of all the songs in The Sound of Music, this is the only one I have trouble singing. I guess one has to have that proverbial "fire" to be able to sing this song and be convincing. Just the way Julie Andrews sang it all those years ago.
