Many of them become nothing more than un-firable bureaucrats as they get older. The reason people aren't supposed to cite wikipedia is that it just gives a general overview without requiring you to do any research or understand the issues, and that some information is subject to change.

My issue is that I could go write that they found a sabre tooth tiger alive in russia on Wiki, yes it would be refuted eventually, but like YouTube having copyrighted material posted, it would take a while to have it removed. Meanwhile how many dumb little kids are gonna read anything someone has written and take it for fact. Some people cannot be assumed to know the differance between the fact and the fallicy.
