Many of them become nothing more than un-firable bureaucrats as they get older. The reason people aren't supposed to cite wikipedia is that it just gives a general overview without requiring you to do any research or understand the issues, and that some information is subject to change.

To think that everything needs to be filtered and approved by some centralized and often biassed organization... i mean, people are either fallible or they aren't. Imagine some neo-con fool editing a wikipedia entry. Now imagine the same fool writing 'trusted' encyclopedia articles, or the news, or university papers. A stamp of 'authority' is usually complete BS.

My issue is that I could go write that they found a sabre tooth tiger alive in russia on Wiki, yes it would be refuted eventually, but like YouTube having copyrighted material posted, it would take a while to have it removed. Meanwhile how many dumb little kids are gonna read anything someone has written and take it for fact. Some people cannot be assumed to know the differance between the fact and the fallicy. Unlike YouTube content Wiki posts information, and information is powerful.

On Wiki I could say god is a spagetti monster, yes, it would get refuted, just like a copyrighted movie on YouTube would get pulled down. However just like the copyrighted movie on YouTube many people could potentially view it before it got pulled it down. So for kids who may not have all the info.. its harmful.

Membership in the church has never been denied because of skin color only ordination to the priesthood and this goes back to scripture all the way to the days of Cain.
