This is the same tune as "You Won't Do Right" by Art Neville (Aaron's bro). Does anybody know which record was released first? I think Art's was. I smell a lawsuit!
@whathefck1 Art's was in 1963 and "What Kind Of Fool" came the following year. I'm sure if any lawsuit was to be involved, it would have been settled years ago.
I had a brother that was in the service with Richard Pryor. My brother was so cool and was over ten years my senior. Fun to talk to and he LOVED this number. He's passed on and I can't hear this without thinking of him and how much fun our family had. He had a great sense of humor and he said he and Richard used to crack up together. And Mr. Pryor was in the army book with him, so he really was in with him.
I saw them my one and only time at Rhett Butler's in Augusta, GA, 1975. Joe Pope walked around the audience and handed me the mic. I am sure I sounded great since I was 3 sheets in the wind. LOL
What a fun and talented group, never for get them nor their music!
I saw these guys live at Deriaires' in Charlston , SC in 1981 at the age of 16 , My brother was a college student, and I was a kid visiting from Boston, Mass. It was like a scene out of Animal House , now that I look back on it. It was wonderfull. I feel so greatfull to have been exposed to this beach music at this age. It was awesome. I still have the evenings flyer from the show and I'll be 46 this year. great memory.-
@flipside582 As soon as I read the comment by trivett68 I thought the same thing. Glad to see there are folks out there who remember, and I would say love, this great music from an earlier time. Hats off to ya flipside!
Our local group, Bill Deal & the Rhondells did this song, but I have always liked this Tams version better And to fysmith55, I used to go to Folly Beach & Isle of Palms myself, even saw what Hurricane Hugo did to those resorts six months after it happened.
ilove this song

I remember The Tams playing mixers in Spartanburg. Bass Weejuns, Bottle Green button down shirts with matching socks... Those were the days!

Great song! I heard it on the ally mcbeal episode "they eat horses, don't they?"
Actually I find Vonda Sheppard's version the best. It's a shame that I can't find it on cd

The Tams were the greatest group that came to the Sea Side on the Isle of Palms in South Carolina during the 60's. Totally Awesome!

Wouldn't it be nice to go back in time. I'd probably make the same mistakes but at least I would have good music to listen to.

I've never asked someone the question "What kind of fool do you think I am?" because I pretty much know what the answer would be ! *sigh*
