Wow! Amazing performance Tom, and just the right degree of playfullness. All the hours of sweat don't show at all. Thanks for posting! So wonderful to see someone carrying on in the true Rhythm dancing traditions! I love the dancing - unfortunately the camera work was HORRIBLE! Fred Astaire was SO right on insisting full body shots of dancers. He said something like, "Either I dance or the camera dances - not both". I feel like I missed out on the full beauty of Tom's dancing because of the cuts and close ups. Too bad. But he is terrific!

Would be interesting to know how many takes were needed ... quite many, based on the frequency of view changes ... or alternatively the director was too much influenced by MTV editing. However, nice to watch - but would've been more impressive if the whole thing would've recorded with just one take and the picture would've shown the whole dancer from toes to the head from the beginning to the end.

Dutchy this video above is a different form of dance to what you see on SCD,the routine,on the video,shows talent,technique and light heartedness... Have you ever seen Fred Astaire's version. Your totally missing the concept. The said video was an audition piece and he succeeded with it,just ask the BBC,who gave him a job!

Rachel Stevens attended a drama school where she trained in; Song,drama and dance. She also danced while in the group S Club 7(later known as S Club). Last years winner also had some form of dance experience,so I agree with teelyceely that many people on SCD have had some dance experience. Tom hadn't danced for 5 years prior to SCD,to be as excellant as he was obviously he's worked pretty hard and should be praised and not condemned and remember he's having to learn to dance with a partner also.
