Actually, the foliage and rocks on the ground in BF3 are absolutely horrible.

And I played 240 hours of BF3 in Ultra, and i'm sorry but NO Frotsbite 2 doesn't look better.

Cryengine is as much if not more beautiful then Frostbite. And it has an editor. DICE fucked a bunch of communities by not releasing a tool for all those clever mod developpers.

I'm a very big BF fan, but today I'd hope BF was on Cryengine.

STOP COMPARING THIS TO BF3!!! Both of them have good engines and BF3 IS a game but this is not a game. This is a simulator that is supposed to help soldiers. It don't need to have Super Ultra Pro Good graphics but it needs to be a good simulator for soldiers (Gameplay is the most important thing in a ''game'' like that). They get some help even if this simulator has Mario graphics! Sry for my English, but i just wanted to say something.

- Cryengine 3 = Real Time.

Now, will you stop your dumb fight? both are great engines, but the fact that Cryengine 3 is 100% real time makes it much better for simulating real life, knows why? Because real life is not pre-rendered.

@bezoro2008 The lighting looks pretty flat and unrealistic in places on this video. Character animation also quite far below the ANT system used on Battlefield 3. When you say 100% real time, what do you mean exactly? Are you saying the sim calculates all lighting in real time using ray tracing or radiosity? If so the results are poor. I know of course it doesn't use real time light. So what else is realtime?

@BeastlyRig Not true at all.The animations are COMPLETELY the devs fault and not the engines fault. Anyone that used Cryengine 2 or 3 can tell you this. As for destruction, Frostbite 1 and 2 both have scripted destruction. You hit certain spots, the buildings fall in certain ways. It's scripted. The only part that is dynamic is WHEN it falls. Go watch videos of Sandbox editor for CryEngine 3, it's JUST as good as Crengine 2. The destruction limits on Crysis 2 were because of consoles

Seriously just watch some videos of Sandbox editor physics and it's dozens of times more dynamic and realistic than Frostbite's scripted physics. You even adjust the physics on the PC version of Crysis 2 in the editor to make it super realistic, it's awesome with the mods people made using the engine. Again, the animation issue in this video is the developers fault, which is funny for the amount of money they spent.

Probably because they're not interested in realistic animations. This is purely a strategic tool, not a game. It looks real to make sure those training on it are immersed, but having 100% lifelike animations aren't worth the thousands of man hour it would take when other things are much more important in a training tool.
