Yes, the friendsofthesacredheart period org is our American non-profit organization that helps us with fundraising and publicity needs. It is run by lay friends of our order.

No, there are 6 Americans who have entered and none of us spoke Italian before entering. Of course you have to learn but it is easiest with the full immersion and almost all of the Religious speak both English and Italian.

Yes, we have 6 American religious. We are cloistered (without the grill) according to the desires and original plan of St. Madeleine Sophie and so we do not go home. However, we welcome anyone who would like to visit us!

For some reason I can't seem to post a web address on this comment board. It seems to recognize the format and block it so I will try to spell out the punctuation. If you search on Google using the name "Istituto del Sacro Cuore Firenze" we should be the first five or so results. We have many of the pages translated into English and French though our house is in Italy and most everything is in Italian.

Yes, we are the Religious of the Sacred Heart founded by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, however, we are a reformed house that has separated from the rest of the Society of the Sacred Heart. Check out our web site.
