  • is the aussie version that great? I keep hearing how its supposedly is..

  • have you noticed the road signs during the film.......where they lead to........???????

  • why isnt there a tribute vid of toecutter??? that would be cool

  • This dubbed version makes you appreciate the original even more!

  • what is that gesture meant to mean when he blows with his mouth after saying "Bubba, Johnny"? I thought it was a signal to kill the geezer, but he's still around in a following scene

  • @lolzkaful that's just Toecutter's way of telling the two gangsters to leave him alone with the night rider's coffin, as he was a good friend of his. also, Toecuter spared the old guy for being obedient and having a "wonderful philosophy" - when he says "take him away", he immediately lets out a sharp SHHH as a way of telling the gangsters to take it easy on the old man, and the gangsters then calmly escort him away rather than dragging him by force.

adds some dimension to Toecutter, I like it

  • I love the sound effect as he spins around quickly at 2:53.

  • ..Mad Max fan here and this is the only version I've seen..

I need the undubbed version obviously after reading these comments.

  • remember when he says I HATE GUNS.

  • R.I.P GEOFF PARRY

  • i did not know this was dubbed as a kid when I saw this in movie. The sound track is enhanced when you compare the the movies also they raised the volume of the bikes and cars which I love to hear. Either version is a personal choice which all should enjoy. Mad Max films had a big influence in my life from the cars I buy to my career as a Law enforcement Officer. I want to say thank you to all the Aussies for this import to America. Toe Cutter is F@#$! awsome.

  • The Toecutter in indeed one of the all time great movie villians. Hugh Keays-Byrne is such a truly incredible actor. There is not one line in Mad Max that he does not give with a magical delivery. Just look at the "Cundlini wants his hand back" scene later in the movie; he gives like 8 lines with eight different accents, inflections, characters, etc. in the span of like one minute. Just awesome stuff; in my opinion he is the best thing about what is already an intense and amazing film.

  • The Toecutter. One of the best movie villains ever.

  • Bubba, Johnny.

  • Yeah that guy is toast, you dont see the killing but expect it. Great scene from cult classic. Better than 'Stone' with same actors...

  • yea in 1:52 look toecutter watns to say something but instead zanetti do it ehehehe

  • bunch of shirt lifters :D

  • i actually like both versions. it was funny tho cuz when i finally heard the original aussie version i was quite disappointed bcuz their original voices sounded weak like someone was stepping on their balls.

  • good

  • Actually not that many of the actors are australian...including gibson

  • Most of the actors were from Australia...Gibson's accent was so thick they had to overdub it...Toecutter's gang were riders from a motorcycle club...

  • So he gets killed? Maybe?

  • do they kill this guy or what?

  • is the gang leader the singer from the cure?

  • No..and does not even look like him

  • the night rider that is his name! still no match for max.

  • in the full movie i mean.

  • i love the z9 doen the burnout.

  • My favourite motorbike is at 0:43 with the blanket tied to the front - i think its a honda cb but i like the paint job on the fuel tank. Proper old school bikes :)

  • EPIC SCENE, EPIC ACTING, EPIC EVERYTHING.....and epic movie ofc.

  • Must have cut his heart out huh.......

  • it's not post-apocalypse yet!!! that happens between MM1 and MM2 (Road Warrior)

  • I like it with the australian accent better,is not only original but very cool too.

  • I just got this vision of Clint Eastwood appearing in front of them and coming out with one of his classic lines before it turns ugly

  • I love how many in the gang are classically trained actors!

  • All the Aussie tv stations are full of shit. They never put any good movies on and if they did it would be at some stupid fucking rediculous time. Fucking bastards fuck em.

  • good motorcycles kawasaki"s kz 1000!!!!

  • Is that what the Toecutter is riding? Do you know what year model it is? And what about Gooses bike?

  • The people there look very calm. I don't know about you, but if I lived in a post apocalyptic outback, I would shit my pants whenever I saw a gang of motorcyclist outlaws.

  • I guess you either die or get used to it.

  • What the hell??????

Ive always been told about the yanks chosen to "dub" this in to american english all over that "they cant understand Australian English

  • Understand it just fine mate.

  • Thats cool, as an australian, I just feel insulted by this:B

  • Did you notice that Bubba wears the same exact jacket as the MFP officers?

  • Yea I have, I have anways wonder about thats

  • how can i get the original w/out american dub?

  • God bless Australia.

  • Girl in the red car is hot!

  • the bikes toecutter and goose sound better but i still like the australian dub better they sound more real and i live in the usa

  • First off, Toecutter is a creepy fucker! Dubbed or not, he's just frightening. Good stuff.

I don't mind the American dubbing, but I think the Australian is better. Granted, it's harder to hear, as the American audio is much crisper from what I've seen.

But dammit, if the original version is Australian, then that's the way it should be.

How would you like it if your Kurosawa movies had American dubbing?

  • the american accents sounds much better good work

  • no way is the dubbed version better, you lose the emotion and "scariness" of the characters, especially the night rider, the toecutter and bubba. GOSH

  • whats the problem?could the americans not understand a different accent with the same language?

  • those were days when Australians lived in the bush, drive 4 wheel drives to work, and had roos in the back yard .... australia didnt even figure on the map to the americans in the 70s, 80, 90s,.....

  • Who's the dork that put the idiot american accents in this classic

  • This is the dubbed American version...sounds shit

  • They're Kawasaki Z900's (Late 70's) A truly amazing bike.

  • What motorcycles are they riding?

  • The american overdubbing is lame. Im american and i'd much rather hear it with the austrailian accents.

  • never heard the US version before, its pretty weird. The yanks got gyped here

  • @eme456 I can't believe they dubbed this into American? Noooooo I wonder why?

Americans arn't that bad at understanding us are you? :)

  • @simmo19801 Apparently they did it because they thought it would give the film more interest in the states. Bad idea since it takes away the authenticity.

  • Så ledsen min vän Styrbjorn. den er dubbed

  • He's Hugh Keays-Byrne ... Listen to same clip without the chintzy American overdub ... nothing against the USA, just some brilliant acting that falls short of the mark when the actors voices (part of acting) are changed.

    LOL ... "gritty" ... more like sh*tty.

    Always loved this film.

  • this clip isnt dubbed

  • Yes it is dubbed. All these voices are not spoken by the actors who appear in the film. Hugh, the toe cutter actually has a british accent as his family were British military folk.

  • It doesnt sound dubbed at all

  • well ur an idiot then aren't u

  • well then your a little fucking smartass then that should say something constructive instead of trying to talk with your thumb up your ass

  • what is the toecutters real name?

  • love those hissing noises he makes phenomal a one of a kind villain

  • this scene is fucking legendary, toecutter is an extremly talented actor.

The night rider...that was his name..the night rider. Remember him when you look at the nights sky...

  • among my favorite villains of all time

  • I second that, too bad he didnt have more scenes in the movie

  • Amazing fuckin movie!

  • "Bubba, Johnny... *poof*"

  • 'remember him, when you look at the night sky'

    'i will'

i think thats the funniest part

  • "Everything I say... what a wonderful philosophy you have..."

  • Title changed! hahaha

  • :-D

  • i assumed they killed him?

  • Who? The agent? No, they just take him away.

If you refer to the Night Rider, he has been killed by cops during a chase.

  • @satyrjack Anything I say,,,not everything...

  • Geoff Parry as "Bubba Zanetti" was chilling. But his diologue, was impeccable. Why overbub?

Tim Burns as "Johnny" ,same thing.

    Great cinematography.

  • fucking love bubba zanetti!!!"OUR FRIEND"

  • The title of Movie was changed.

Bubba Zanetti said "OUR FRIEND" MAD-MAX

  • I like Bubba Zanetti!

    and Jhonny the boy!

    But why...?

  • the american voice over's were better than the australian remastered version. sounded grittier, grimy, just plain original.

  • whats with the american voice over

  • The Toecutter's lines are so lame. And yet, who's to say how nutty people would get if this dystopian future actually happened?

  • lmao at the pop singer comparisons

  • Also im pretty sure he hisses at 3.47

  • dead! and them who are with toecutter also looklike gary numan and adam ant.

  • Way im first comment! His neime is the knightrider! Oh toe cutter looks like david essex and them who are lovin him look like gary stevens and paul stewart formely of tottenham
