Your chest voice only extends to a certain part of your range usually. Most strong belters are mezzos or altos. Once you get up into your higher register you need to use your head voice.

what are mezzos and altos? And as im 15 is it likely my voice will developto be able to cope wit belting?

Generally, the main three vocal parts (for women) are Alto, Mezzo (or Mezzo-Soprano) and Soprano.

Altos have a lower voice, Mezzos are generally in the middle range, and Sopranos sing higher. (Very basic generalizations and explanations but still.)

Your voice won't stop developing until you're in your 20s, and you may go through phases. But belting can be learned by anyone with assistance from a voice coach, though not all people are natural belters, you CAN learn.

With the right practice, you can raise your voice range. Believe it or not, I used to be a tenor/low alto, now im a low alto/alto so there u go.

oh man, i HATED her on "american idol". like, when she sang "you're gonna love me" i was blown away, but then the next couple of weeks all she did was scream.

i bet she was pissed when this scene was deleted. i know i would be. but her 15 minutes of fame is over.

though i have to admit, she sounded great in this paticular video.

LaKisha was, is and always will be the best singer ever. Her voice is just outstanding and that last word 'see' in Amazing Grace is just wow! Her vocal control is fantastic! LAKISHA IS JUST AMAZING GRACE!
