@amrat0sunny Those are names for the electron shells of the atoms, each period in the table adds another shell. It's basically the same as the principal quantum number with K being n=1, L being n=2 and so forth. So Neon has electrons in the K and L shells, while Radon has electrons in the K, L, M, N, O and P shell, for example. Don't ask WHY they're called K, L, M etc., though. :)
HIGHLY (blow minding) interactive table of elements, and your tutorial shows even broader use (i just thought about a Latin origins - and it has already been thought of!). Movies, pictures, podcasts - it could not be more pleasant to learn about the elements.
If you can only simplify the rest of chemistry in such a great way - compounds, solutions, bonding, reactions, atomic weight, orbitals and all the way up to the last dot on my 12 hundred pages book....
Ia there an iphone app for this??
I would sooo pay for it its a great website!!!!!!
Thanks!

Along the right hand side of the periodic table, as you go down group 8, you see K, KL, KLM etc. What is the significance of this?
