  • I have one thing to say...'CAN WE COME AND SHARE IN LOVE"...LOUIS KILLS THAT SONG!! (That was two things, so sue me!!)...Louis is great, no matter what (three things...LOL)

  • Louis held his own. He had a different vibe. He took them to a different level for the time that he was with the Temps. The Temps lead singers were no slouches.

  • and yes, i know LJ Reynolds personally and he would have been INCREDIBLE in the tempts role...

  • jimy0803 i talked to Dennis in the airport in Indianapolis two years ago and he agreed that Louis killed the song... I dunno, I figure he has a point.

  • nwilczyn, no offense, but to claim Louis did a better job on "A Song For You" than Dennis, is completely obsurd! the ONLY better version than dennis' is probably Donny Hathaway's!

  • @jimy0803

Everyone has the right to their opinion. Let everybody represent for theirs. You are just voicing yours like everyone else. It's no more important than anyone.

  • Dennis was easily the best and most powerful singer in the tempts. Check out Papa was a Rolling Stone, Ball of Confusion and Cant get Next to You.

  • I think what hurt Louis Price was timing, he was the third primary lead singer, and because of this, some Tempt fans stop supporting them because of the personnel changes, because the music they were making was still great. Ever Ready Love, In A Lifetime, Can We Come and Share In Love. I think Louis Price arrival would've been better if he came along in the 1980's after the reunion tour, because The Tempts received a very needed boost in terms of interest amongst fans.

  • I agree with jakejax I thought louis did well with the tempts, I have both their albums on atlantic, and I like them, louis can sing and dance, In otis book he mention that louis voice didn't quite fit their sound, he doesn't have gritty sound like David, woodson, or even the new dude but I like the dude, check him out on youtube, I like Dennis too, How yall think wee gee howard and L.J. Reynolds would fit in the tempts, those 2 have some grit, 2 singing asses!

  • I agree that Louis Price has a great voice and and moves well. I think the reason "he doesn't quite fit there sound" is crap, Otis had some trouble with that guy. I've never known anyone to get fired for doing a damn good job. I like Louis' version of a song for you. I like Dennis, but I think Louis' version is tops.

  • I meant: "their sound" and "A Song For You"

  • Apperently the feeling was mutual, he didn't get fired, they all decided it wasn't working out. but yeah Louis is awesome, I hear his solo album on motown is amazing too.

  • well said. Louis Price is a great singer. Did he have trouble with Louis or was it because their records werent selling as well?

  • I love his voice.

  • Melvin's gettin it in the middle. Go Blue!

  • It is written Louis Price sang Dennis' and David's part in the Temptation Movie. He was also with the Drifters in the early 80s

  • yeah he did sing their parts

  • Hey, i have the version were Dennis signs lead. Anybody know where i can find a high quality version of this one with Louis Price?

whatiship73: If you have this vid in high quality could you upload the audio only?

I have no doubt im not the only one who would want it!! thanks

  • This man CAN SING! I don't know why they let him go!! That deep baritone is just perfect.

  • Who is this singing lead????

  • THE GREAT LOUIS PRICE!!

  • Great is the right word!!!!! Louis does a lot of Gospel now and movies!! He did 2 albums with the Temps and I heard that for what ever the reason, Otis did'nt like him, so, the rest is history!!

  • The story is he was great in the group and caused no trouble actually. In fact, Otis and the rest of the guys loved his voice...but just thought it wasn't fitting the groups sound well, they thought It was too bluesy for their sound. This is something A lot of Temptations disagree with, even ones like me, who support Otis in most things. However, as much as I like Louis' singing, I can't complain to much, because they brought back dennis and made the Power Album, Which Rocks!!!

  • I recently found a copy (somehow!) of The Temptations Do The Temptations (the album this was from) where Dennis does... uh... an underwhelming job of singing this song... having heard Louis do it there's no comparison... he kills Dennis on this one and A Song For You both...

  • He does look like Jamie Foxx LOL!

  • As Louis' cousin, I have had the privilege of hearing him sing all the time!! Our entire family has been blessed to sing and whenever we get together, it's WONDERFUL!! On behalf of Louis, thanks for the comments!!

  • There was always a rumor here in Chicago that Louis taught music at Marshall High School. But I think he only attended the school.

  • You're right, he only attended Marshall High School. He did not teach music there.

  • I never said it was a bad thing to sound like Jerry Butler. Jerry Butler is a great singer and of the best bariotone's I've ever heard. I just said that Louis Price sounds like him.

  • 86pimp3, so what if louis sounds like Butler that is not bad! Louis could sing, maby he didn!t have that raspy sound as other frontmen did, but he didn!t suck, I respect every singer who has contributed to legacy and greatness of this incomparable group, no group has had great lead singers like Ruffin, Edwards, Woodson, G.C. cameron, theo, Bo, and the new dude Bruce, and the underrated LOUIS PRICE!

  • if you sound like the great jerry Butler that is not bad! louis is a great singer, different from all the other tempt frontmen, but good

  • Louis played "Faroo" in 'White Men Can't Jump'

  • Louis sounds kind of like their new guy... a little?

  • louis is live!!! i've never heard him sing, but this is so live.

  • YESSSSS....... get down Louis!!!

  • dude,he is a dead ringer for jamie foxx!

  • Maybe it's just me, but I actually like this version better than the one with Dennis on lead.

    T.L. Harris

  • It's not just you!

  • I don't know what your listening too but this guy sounds like Jerry Butler with a bit higher voice.

  • I had my "Temptations Do the Temptations" LP converted to CD. It is in my car right now! A very underrated and underpromoted album. And, this version with Louis is fabulous! I always thought highly of him, but this gives me a whole new level of appreciation.

  • how did u do that

  • There are shops that do it -- just bring in your LPs and they convert to CD -- $10-15 per LP. You can also purchase a device that converts LPs to MP3 format. Maybe $150.I haven't bought it, but I've seen them advertised.

  • They also make USB turntables that will do the trick. The prices have come down to about $130

  • Man, you hit the nail on the head!!! This was a great album. Louis Price is a great singer. He's acting and doing gospel now.

  • Where is Louis Price,now?

He really looks like Jamie Fox.

  • Well, actually! Jamie Foxx looks like him. he's old enough to be Jamie's father.

  • New Jack Swing...This dance move is a plus in this performance along with their incredible singing ability...I love Louis Price, the Lead on this song,'who are you';... Powerful lyrics...Thank you for posting.

  • I LOVED Louis w/the Temptations!! He was also in the choir in "Norbit". Very brief, but it's him! I wish he sang more often. Classic clip!

  • LOVE LOUIS AND A GREAT DVD!!I GOT IT!!

  • He sounds like Jerry Butler.

  • um not really,jerry is a baritone,louis is more of a tenor.

  • Louis could hold his own man my first time really hearing him and leave this clips on here good stuff

  • HIS A SONG FOR YOU IS THE BEST!!

  • Bar none!!!!

  • Damn! Louis is the Man. this is as good as the Dennis version. only wish they had the Melvin franklin intro on this. Melvin was one of the writers on this song.

  • It's a shame their songs with Louis Price didn't chart...some really good soul/disco jams! thanx for postin'

  • Yeah louis was great, I wish he had done more with the guys. However, this song was recorded with dennis, and they had to go on tour and promote it with louis, because dennis left right after finishing the album.

  • Wow ! I always loved Louis Price! Watch the White Men cant Movie, and you will hear him sing some songs as the credits are being shown! He may have sang two or three on the sound track ,but I am not sure! They also had a ureleased record just after they left Atlantic .I heard it when I went ASK! i WILL GET BACK TO YOU ON IT!

  • my goodness i'm loving it loving it. Where are you getting these clips, from? :) I love it.

  • Please add more Temptations videos in their 1970 era. Thank you
