  • loop anecdote: saw them support primal scream in 87 at leeds, dying to get home to tell my brother about them, he was dying to tell me about a band he'd heard on peel. same band. loop.

  • fking ace. don't think this is the official vid, i think snub did it.

  • saw them at norwich UEA 1989!...mind blowing unbelivable band!!

  • saw them at norwich UEA 1989!...mind blowing unbelivable band!!

  • The greatest band of all time.

  • Saw Loop at Brighton Zap club in 1990 and that mesmerising, awesome gig goes down as one of the best I ever saw-over those early 90s I saw Fugazi, Terry Bickers' Levitation,Jesus&MaryChain,My Bloody Valentine and Dinosaur Jr(the latter three being at the "Rollercoaster"Tour 1992)-I don't think my ears ever recovered. But what a wonderful period for British music.Dinosaur were Yanks but anyway(!) The one band I regretfully didn't see were Spacemen 3.

  • @MrTulip65 I was at the same gig, the Zap was an excellent live venue and Loop was a superb gig

  • @TheJohneboy Yeah? It was a good venue though - some good memories there. The Loop gig..I'd just been kicked out of my flat and was temporarily homeless..didn't really feel like going out,but had two tickets for the Zap and dragged myself down there, only to be blown away by Loop.

  • This was a specially made video for a UK programme called SnubTV broadcast 1989, originally included a longer interview and other tracks if memory serves- I've got it on an old VHS recorded from the TV

  • this is fucking DRUG.

    turn off the pc,

stop to do whatever you're doing,

put his vinyl into your turntable,

    lie down on bed

    & enjoy.

    Cheers!

  • A Gilded Eternity has been remastered comes out at the end of this month!

  • Loop was one of the most overlooked bands in postpunk history.

  • A Gilded Eternity is huge influence on my music - holy crap I can't believe it's been 19 years since this came out. Someone REMASTER THIS RECORD - PLEASE!!!!

  • Last I heard, the remaster is due in March. Even if it only sounded half as good as the Fade Out one, it would still be spectacular. Check Hampson's Myspace page.

Personally, I always liked the Peel Session of this one a bit more.

  • @troumer I totally agree with you about the Peel sessions-they were where I first heard Loop-amazing.

  • love LOOP - they meant so much to me as a 16 year old in 'lil old Canberra Australia!

  • simply AWESEOME

  • incredibly awesome

  • I still cannot find ANY bad LOOP's song.

And this is one of the best 10.

  • I didn't like this song much for the first year or two after I bought _A Gilded Eternity_ (an excellent album). Over the next several years, it gradually grew on me, and now I really like it. For the kind of music that Loop made, it is quite lovely.

  • ride wer an uneducated mans loop...

  • leave them all behind is an amazing song...but overall i much prefer loop...but they're completely different bands it's hard to compare them

  • Thats hilarious. Loop never has an awkward moment on any of their albums whereas ride comes of sounding goofy more than occasionally.

  • @meinLiebsterFeind I tend to dislike the sugarpop Ride stuff, but I love most of the stuff from the Smile EP, to the first song of Going Blank Again (Leave Them All Behind). I never liked the britpop sounding songs. I tend to prefer stuff like Drive Blind, and Furthest sense, and Kaleidoscope.

True though. Loop is a more solemn, trance band.

Has anybody here ever heard the album "Tweez" by Slint? Not like Loop, but solemn and precise.

  • Us Loop fans use the music of Loop as mental-condoms against corporate music mind control. And because of their existence we are forever grateful.

  • This track is wonderfully gloomy, pretty much brutal with the drone and all.

  • I don't find it gloomy at all. Somewhat hectic, with an "impending doom" feel and an amorphous opulence that gives it an almost orchestral texture -- but gloomy, it's not. Brutal, though, yeah, it is slightly that.

  • Supposedly they are now working on a remastered reissue of Loop's discography. But it's going to take a while. It's annoyingly difficult to get any of their records.

  • talking serious ?

    A Loop reunion ?

    Any rumour about tours ?

  • I have first 2 albums on vinyl

  • fucking hell really mate? wow, fuck. shit you're kidding right? you've got the first two albums on vinyl? i'm not having it man! mind blowing, fuck me!

    boring cunt.

  • Did they do any interviews at all? I've never seen/read any.

  • Wow, never seen this! Awesome! Source?

  • the only ones? what about spacemen3?

  • Cool stuff, anyone hear any news on the reissues?

  • They were the only ones back then to really dig that hypnotic, psychedelic sound.

  • Robert Hampson, you bastard. Why must your work be so difficult to track?

  • I just bought A Gilded Eternity. Eh! Eh! Eh! Eh!

  • No, this is apparently the official video for the song

  • Looks nice! Is this your work?

  • COOL! Thanks!
