  • Thanks ever so much for uploading. What a great pleasure it is watching this!

  • 6:42 That little purring noise (drum roll or film leader sound) he makes before he sings is pretty sexy.

  • "...until then, all walk backwards into long-shot, while goodnight is given..."

  • what a dupey juk li op er tun icrasificated trolipy fear

  • captain peacock at 3:43!!!!!!! for all of you are you being served fans

  • @beaverpitt TODAY's his Birthday!! The BIG 9-1 Happy Birthday, Mr. Thornton!

  • It has been deleted, but if you have a friend at the BBC you can get copies made.

  • This is absolutely brilliant. Holy shit, why don't people know about this movie?

  • Just packed with some of the funniest British comedians. If some of you younger viewers wonder where Monty Python evolved from, look no further. Long live Peter Sellers!

  • God, I haven't seen this in 30 years! back when late night network television actually played movies and patriotic sign-offs, instead of infomercials. Thank you for putting this up.

  • The Cast in order of height, love it, so simple, yet so original.

  • кому хочется посмотреть фильм с русским переводом - пишите в личку, поделюсь ссылкой

  • One of the most advanced movies. Transformation from subject into object - a persiflage on mutation based on radiation and society bevaviour, plus our everyday superficiality - surviving an atomic war, giving the illusion of normal life and the human ability to adapt - even to an post-atomic war scenario with no hope, full of humor. I love it.

  • Genius. Wish I'd made this film or been in it

  • This is nonsense! Clearly the bomb would have wiped out the BBC reporter (as well as Mao Zedong & the Wilsonesque PM). Similarly, Leytonstone would be subject to massive amounts of radiation. It would be more likely that the survivng PM would be from the Outer Hebredies (English is not my first language) & this jsut shows the anti-Scottish bias we've come to know & loathe at the British (English) Broadcasting Corporation. Reith, you were a turncoat to your Scottish brothers.

  • @anthonythirteen

You're not taking this seriously are you? Of course the bomb would have killed everybody at GZ, if No.10 was GZ. Whether Leytonstone would have suffered from fallout depends on whether the warheads that hit London were air, or ground bursts.

Btw Spike was of Irish parentage and later took Irish citizenship.

  • @MontytheHorse Mr Horse (or may I call you Ed?) What do you think?

  • @anthonythirteen Of the film? It's a classic comedy. It wasn't made by the BBC so it's hardly an example of anti-Scottish bias.

However it's not a realistic look at nuclear war, watch Threads, The War Game, or The Day After for a more realistic look. The Bed Sitting Room is not meant to be a docudrama.

  • @MontytheHorse Oh dear - I was taking the piss: I know that Hon Spike Milligan was using very dark humour.

  • @anthonythirteen Then I appologise. It isn't always clear on the 'net. It wouldn't be the first time that somebody here missed the point of a film. ;-)

  • not yet more f********* adverts

  • very weird

  • Thank you! This will prove to be interesting!

  • Apparently a box-office flop for director Richard Lester after a string of prestigious and successful films!!!

But thank you - I had never been able to see this movie!!!

  • vittu va skit

  • wow

    thanks

  • weiss jemand wo ich den film in deutsch kaufen kann? und wie der deutsche titel ist?

does somebody know where i can buy it in german?

  • Germany?

  • Deutscher Titel: "Danach". Weiß nicht, ob es den auch auf deutsch auf DVD gibt. Im Fernsehen läuft er ja leider -wie viele sehr gute Filme- sehr sehr selten...

  • I have just found out this is now available on DVD. I have waited years to see this picture again, great.

  • its a great sf..and funny.....brillant actors....... dont like harry secombe

  • Michael Hordern was a fabulous actor.

  • Well said, I've always remembered him fondly from Jonathan Miller's 'Alice'.

  • Coming to dvd and blu-ray May 25th.

  • All these greats gone. And who do we have now?

  • Comment removed

  • At last! I have waiting eons for this; along with The Strange World of Gurney Slade, Tales of Mystery and Imagination and Out of The Unknown. All great UK 60s TV series. Alas! I fear the latter three are now missing but hope remains that somewhere in some remote vault, there are copies gathering dust waiting to be discovered.

  • 20 episodes of Out/Unknown still exist and about ten Tales of Mystery - the latter are due on DVD from Network later this year.

  • By chance I met John Antrobus over a meat pie in a London caff about 18 months ago, and told him that The Bed Sitting Room really ought to be released. He seemed pleased but initially surprised by the notion. He suggested it might be up to Dick Lester to make a move, but that he'd look into it. Well, whoever gets to decide, it's clear that the film is a masterpiece and someone surely must be planning a release eventually. But why has it taken so long? Surely a confusing film rights issue?

  • possibly the greatest film ever to be made

  • Wow, thank you so much for posting this. I saw it on TV decades ago and have been searching for it since then, I can't even find a pirate copy!

  • iv tried everywhere, cant find it show time shows it somtimes, ill have to burn a copie when i can find it.

  • The holy grail of films. Thanks.

  • Thank you for uploading this. I've gotten tired of waiting on an official DVD. This is the only alternative.

I missed recording this off a commercial free movie channel years ago. Caught the tail end. They never showed it again. :(

  • I'm surprised this isn't on DVD as well. Thanks for posting it on Youtube,I've always wanted to see it!

  • Thank you x 1 000 000 for posting this.

  • I second that ^infinity

  • Infinity +1!

  • It astounds me that it is unavailable - but then so much of Spike Milligan's work is so i shouldn't be surprised! Thanks so much for putting it on here!

    Sam.
