You're very talented. Read that this was submitted for a contest? If so, this is the best in my book. In fact, you sang it so well you're I believe you're a threat to the original artist :) The panel who didn't recognize your cover was probably a bunch of amateur wannabe artists who shouldn't be holding contests especially when they can't recognize talent.

@MsXstarsx The correct term would be rendition(which I believe he later changed the title to). Anyhow, I was surprised he didn't make top 9, but I guess the judges were looking for something specific and Cody's RENDITION just didn't fit. Still a great cover, but thumbs up to Cody for being different!!

@lunahawj I agree. The competition was to cover the song and some people just sung along with the instrumental which (IMO) was kinda lame since alot of the top 9 sounded almost like the original. I agree that Cody changed things up too much, but that's a true cover unlike just singing WITH the original instrumental. Go check out OUR cover! Cover number #104 with acoustics done by me. Yeah, he did made it into his own songs but where is the original? His voice is great no argument but then it just dont fit into the way the song is sung. If trying to make the song sad or so then SEEV your voice more beside just extending the voice. I like the original chorus more and if this voice is to sung with the original chorus then it would be way better. This comment is base on opinion and advice. More important is to not change the song too much.

The competition was to make a cover not an original, & by wut u mean "Seev ur voice more beside jus extending the voice" umm isnt that the point of singing, extending the words? Its doesn't take a genius to figure out how to make the right cover for this song, especially for a guy. My compliment goes to Cody. If you are a guy and you try to compete with the origninal cover (Joy yang) you will not win. A male's voice is not suit for this song. Cody simply made the song his own and that is why it sounds so great. He'll win this competition from a male stand point! well atleast to me hahaa! You have to be creative!

Think about all the famous songs that were ever written in history; if people continue to change the song too much to the point that it does not sound like the original at all, then the original essence of the song would be lost. @phajeb21 That is true, but the whole meaning of the competition was to make a cover, if you go and research the definition of "cover song" it will say, the taking of an original and making it into one's own versatile way, still containing the words and most of the components of the original tune. Thus Cody simply did not change everything, he made a cover as what the competition was told for the contestants to do.
