Here's some tips that MIGHT make him easier:

Respond to a punch with the fist on the same side as the one Tyson tried to punch you with.

When you punch Tyson after his R1 Uppercuts, punch him the way I mentioned above, then pause a little and punch him again right before he comes out of his stun, you deal more damage!

You've inspired me! I played this game 20 years ago as a kid and then forgot about it. I recently downloaded an NES Emulator and a bunch of my old games and now my boys are trying to beat Tyson again. Good fight

emulators are easy. Just do a google search for NES emulator. Lots of sites have them.

Finding the ROM is a bit trickier, but you could try a google as well.

The original was so much harder when compared to Super Punch Out. The last boss on SPO Nick Bruiser was a joke compared to Mike Tyson.

I saw some of your comments for the Mike Tyson knockout in the first round on "izmo"'s page.

Now, you should re-watch the video that YOU posted.

Notice the inconsistency of the punch damage in Round 1. You'll see that, at times, more damage is being done to Mike depending on the timing of your punches.

Compared to the other video, your timing is way off. Not that you're a bad player, just that you don't seem to have the level of precision necessary to duplicate the other performance.

Mike also gets up with half health on the first knockdown. Mike does not take that amount of damage on any punches, nor is his health reduced after the first couple of knockdowns. That's without mention, damage is also inconsistent in the other video, but it's still too high.

I wasn't really trying to duplicate the other performance, but the other vid is game genie mod.

The amount of health that Mike has after his first knockdown, believe it or not, correlates to whether or not HE knocked you down.

This is what I've been told from those who have played the game thousands of times anyway.

And you're wrong about the damage. In your video I saw some of your punches dishing out the same amount displayed in the other video.

Two things:

1. Your timing is nowhere near as consistent

2. You were knocked down by Mike

Try talking to others who have made time attacks.

Aside from that, here's what else I found :)

"The strategy. In the first 1:30, dodge his punch and hit him twice. Your first punch has to hit him on the side where he tried to swing at you. If he gives you a right uppercut, hit him first on his right side. If you hit him on the other side, he will not take damage.

This attempt was slowed down on an emulator so I can time the hits perfectly. I used Div-X video encoding which takes up less memory but results in crappier video quality. "

Curious, I just now tried this. Took me a few tries but I was able to knock down Mike flawless in the first round. He got up with full health.
