  • GOD DAMN HIPPIES

  • @ForeverARTpower Bastard, you stole my comment >:(

  • To whoever said this was just convention and not an actual city. Wrong... first off, anywhere people congregate and live for any amount of time, can potentially become a city. And you think just because they're importing things in that it demotes that status? Over 90% of the food at your store is shipped in from elsewhere. So yeah, maybe it takes away from the "self reliance" a bit, but it still functions as any other city would. Just in a temporary fashion.

  • @Fredrock1982 You are stupid. I predict you will always be stupid. Happy, but stupid.

  • @zigertube So is your redundant and non-constructive response, and you can say whatever you like. I've done this time and time again, and not just at Burning Man. We did the same thing in countless drop-zones in the service, and often for 6-8 months at a time. Not a thing I said was un-true. I'm certainly not advocating that we all try to comform to a system like this, because it isn't built for the long term, but all the basics are there for a small society.

  • These comments are pretty much why most Americans are not fit to run for government positions.

  • How to make a city better:

Make a city out of wood with slow ass transportation in the middle of a desert with nowhere to discard waste, then blow up half of the city.

    ....GENIUS!

  • yeah it would be great to use bikes everywhere, now if we could just flatten these hills

  • Icy pandemonium of extraneous wills? That's goddam brilliant.

  • Looks boring

  • 40,000 souls? what about the gingers?

  • ima go in the next few years and drop acid and shrooms and mabe smoke some dmt

  • how is this video getting so popular out of no where its from 2009

  • @BuzShare not sure why, it was just advertised to me for some reason and i clicked it.

  • Lol, I thought this was about burning a real man at first and was like this is a fucked up city.

  • Burning Van!

  • i thought it says 5 things man learn from burning cities XD

  • Joshua Graham?

  • I wanna go to burning man....smoke weed light fireworks ride my bike. this festival seems fucking awesome

    who owns that land anyway?

  • Things I've learned from burning man.

    (Go to burning man)

    (Bring a gun)

    (Shoot everything in site)

    (No more hippies)

  • @Wakkajakka ^and then you off yourself like a pussy.

  • THE BEES! OH GOD THE BEES!!!!! BWAAGARBLE IN MY EYES!!!!!

  • all i know is that its some kind of human sacrifice ritual but only acted.

  • 1:28 that one dude is dressed up as Green Lantern, and KYLE RAYNER green lantern to boot!

    That guy is awesome.

  • ummmmm....you can't really compare Black Rock with New York City.

1.) New York exsists on a 24 HOUR, ALL YEAR basis. If this were the case for Black rock, which would be required to supply it's residents with food and warmth, the city wouldn't last three months.

2.) If you made 50,000 people live in the same place for longer than a month...in the desert...yeah, not so hippie happy anymore.

  • 4:33 And I thought he was at a lost for words..

  • hippies, hipster and socialists everywhere UGHH....

  • regular cars r more effiecient than those makeshift floats buddy :\

  • i love how many comments are about fallout new vegas xD

    New Vegas > Burning Man

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, look, hippies. So that's where they all ran off too. I'd like to see hipsters take on these foggies in a drunken brawl.

  • part of it is appealing but being spiritually aware, the symbolism of a burning man has always concerned me. it seems concerningly close to satanic somehow. it's like a live high voltage wire dangling near a pool of water. without clear definition of what is meant by that burning man it seems to be a spiritual pitfall waiting to happen.

although the people and the mood seem pretty good

  • @DanFrederiksen well ive never been but i think of it as representing how people really need to stop self worshiping.

  • @DanFrederiksen it probably concerns you cuz its similar to the semi-satanistic, pagan wicker man idea....lol, scary shit

  • @kudjo24 actually didn't know about that but shows how right the intuition is.

there is also the more blatantly satanic ritual performed by the bohemian grove club where they burn a man in effigy and call him 'care'. burning of care.

  • @DanFrederiksen well man thats the thing about the Burning Man that attracts so many people, is that it doesnt have any specific spiritual meaning. You could look at it like a, i dont know, an alter to satan or whate ever. Or you could look at it like a sign from god.

Me, im an athiest, so i dont really take any spiritual meaning out of it. But it is so, so cool to see all these people becoming friends and sharing stories. Definitely going next year, its a great experience.

  • When I saw the title, I was thinking of The Burned Man from Fallout New Vegas.

  • the hippie lives! where are the volkswagons and head shops? lol

  • @Tr3ySoldier

I can never seem to ignore the ignorance of an ignoramus such as yourself.

Tolerance goes a long way buddy. Learn some.

  • @Tr3ySoldier fuck off.

  • @leeknivek FUCK YOU

  • @Tr3ySoldier you're an idiot.

  • Chicken in the frying pan explodes in man's face.

    See it here!!!

  • anyone remember in Easy Rider where the Hippies in that commune are trying to have a utopia out in the desert and it was sort of ambiguous if they would be able to make it. looking back on it now, we know they probably failed.

  • WEEEEEED

  • BURNING VAN!!!

  • that guy was on the malcolm in the middle burning man epidose, miss that show!

  • I EAT POOP

  • @kitkat44217 eww....

  • Larry Harvey just doesn't talk very well

  • Do lots of psychotropics? Is that one of the lessons?

  • i would only go here for naked chicks

  • I think i saw Nicolas Cage in a movie like this. It was strange. Like the Idea of how this is like a..how to say..uhh...mini utopia. No trash is left behind and it all goes back to the way it was before they came. +1 for creativity :P

  • A bunch of hippie tripe.

  • Filithy sand niggers

  • @YozeXXX Such a nice guy.

  • gay

  • These people are TEMPLAR KNIGHTS

  • LOL. Let's move to the middle of the desert and make a mess. I have learned that Burning Man flushes the toilet of people for a time (they are gone).

  • Fucking a-rabs

  • @TheMostAnnoyingTroll cmon man you cant have a name like that and troll effectively; you're a fucking amature. But, your comment is a step in the right direction.

  • 1) Not goinna happen.

    2) Nothing self-reliant about Burning Man. It's a convention, and like all such, it requires outside resoures to even exist.

    3) Destroy the economy? Oh great. Just the idea we need right now. And please don't pretend you're not trying to manipulate people with your message.

    4) There's nothing virtuous here.

    5) Society already does this. Just not in such a pointless, deconstructed way.

  • @RealArcalian I've seen people grown enough food for a family of 4 off 1/10th an acre. Very down to earth honest people doing stuff like this because they don't like how dependent we are on this system.

  • @RealArcalian Whats goinna?

  • People need to work on expanding their vocabulary. Why are people calling these people hippies? Is that the only word you know for people who aren't like you?

  • F**k off hippies.

  • @FlUdDeStRoYeR94 hey! it looks cool. like a modern woodstock. except alot less hippish.

  • Anyone else think Burning Man is very ass- backwards? No commerce (well, except for drug sales) but yet you have to buy a ticket? No cars, except "art" cars? one of the "art" cars in the video is an extremely large delivery-van with some red lights on it. I'm all for large festivals of people, but I can find ways to relate to the earth, and the people who inhabit it, better than burning a gigantic wooden structure and shooting off fireworks every night. Fireworks? Seriously? AM-UUUR-ICA!

  • 5 things cities can learn from burning man:

    1. make your city in the desert, where you'll have problems out the ass

    2. make amazing wooden structures

    3. burn the wooden structures

    4. make your city a third world country that no one cares about

    5. have a good time

  • @YomamasGaming wow, so much prejudice and stupidity in your comment

  • @YomamasGaming If you have never been there, then you have no idea of the hard work, sweat, spirituality, and manpower it takes to pull this off. Stop commenting on things you know nothing of, it makes you look like a jackass.

  • I have to say that I would like to witness the madness one of these years

  • where is my weed >.>

  • It looks like a city I would find in Fallout.

  • @squidvis isnt burning man in the Khans gang in fallout new vegas?

  • @RixBriann Joshua Graham of the Legion actually.

  • @RixBriann If it is then I haven't seen it yet.

  • It looks like some primitive occult-like idolatry happening there.

  • JOSHUA GRAHAM

  • @Superunii I thought that too when I saw the title.

    X D

  • what the...

  • Where is this place?

  • I think it's less about the purpose and meaning and more about having a good time

  • idk... i just watched the wickerman... the good one, not the shitty one.

  • Comment removed

  • One of them is man g strings? wtf

  • Goddamn hippies!

  • if i had a nuke, this is where it would go. even though these people have good intentions, they are still extremists and no extremist should be allowed to live. and i know its extremist of me to say that but if there weren't any extremist then there would be no need for these thoughts of mine.

  • @AndreProductionVideo sorry those politics have clouded your mind. even though i am not one of those... "extremists" as you called them, how is that so if you said your self they had GOOD intentions... BTW stop trolling.

  • @AndreProductionVideo if there were no extremists then the world would be a boring place where everyone did nothing.

  • @AndreProductionVideo hahahaha the fuck? Really? They? Extremists? If anything, they're just "extremists" towards love, art and drugs. Big fucking deal -_-

  • ahhh yes the festival dedicated to air pollution

  • Ya, reckon anyone smokes any weed there?

  • this is not a place to do drugs, though drugs are done there.

This is not a place for hippys, though hippys are there.

i bet you would find things to love in it if you ever went.

  • @Insomnimanic805

This is not a place for grammar

This is not a place for spelling?

  • @dfitz93 nope.

  • @dfitz93 and i didnt mispell shit except for maybe the plural form of "hippy". go fuck your self in the ass with the larger cock of your semantic bulll shit!

  • Burrrrrrrrrrnnnnning Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

  • A Place to do drugs

  • Malcome in the middle!

  • i'd like something like this to exist in central park and the rest of manhattan the way it is. you should have fun sometimes but things still need to be done.

  • 6:37 for the burning.

  • Re-elect Nixon and stop this nonsense. Undead Nixon for president.

  • Wtf why?

  • Well, this is pointless ._.

  • 4:42 the effects of 20+ years of acid on the human mind

  • i like being on the freeway after burning man, and seeing everyones cars all dirty and the statues and things in their trailers

  • are they Arabic ?

  • Thumbs up if you skipped just to see the fukin man burning, then left.

  • maybe these hippies should just burn themselves

  • @CarlChipSanders because they did what exactly to burn alive? went to a festival?

  • @wow3214

BECUASE ITS NOT ECO FRIENDLY AND ITS INHUMANE!!

  • gginfinite at gmail dot com

  • Haters gonna hate..

  • I saw this place on one of the "Malcolm in the middle" episodes.

  • Burning man - best place to get some acid, gotta love hippies.

  • Burning Man looks awesome. Part of me wishes that there was a city like this that existed all year round.

  • Fucking hippicraytes.....

  • @4shacks1house Learn how to spell.

  • The use of stigma and shame to enforce respect for others' rights, and the encouragement of art, I see no problem with. Go for it.

  • must go there! must see!

  • The economic part- as much as I do agree with the Left of economics, I must do so pragmatically, and point out that, again, Burning Man is a temporary city, with lots of inputs brought in from elsewhere. It's not a long-term settlement that produces all of the things consumed there; making macroeconomic observations on it and trying to apply them to permanent settlements or societies that produce, manage resources, invest in capital, etc is problematic.

  • Joshua Graham!?!??!?!?!?

  • My other concern is the trash- people don't 'take care of their own trash'; they bring it to the dump themselves. You still need a municipal dump and waste system. That said, making people bring their trash to dump themselves? Could be nice. But, it would also require either more, smaller dumps, or burn a lot of fuel- lots of trips to the dump as opposed to one big round by a truck. Of course, reducing the amount generated is always good, but not universally applicable.

  • Wow, I cannot believe the comments I have read about this video. Burning man is an incredible experience that half of you could not hope to withstand. The amount of hate generated at the tips of your fingers is staggering.

  • goddamn hippes

  • Looks Extremely Unproductive!!! Very Bad

  • ROBER MOSES EAT YOUR HEART OUT!!

  • this is the reason why people are chopping down forests

  • What's the symbolic meaning of burning a giant wooden man?

  • I came into this video skeptical- Black Rock City is both temporary and attracts people of a certain cultural and ideological bent. I remain skeptical. The banning of the car, beyond raising ethical questions of public vs private power, is not feasible in most American cities- the American city is designed and zoned for the automobile. They aren't 'walkable'. This would also disenfranchise rural people, like myself, who aren't served by public transport and are far from needed amenities.

  • @CrawdaddyJoe

That's why many cities have public transportation. I'm a suburbanite myself and work in the city. I take the bus and the subway and it is faster than driving my car to work. Most office workers in the city spend hours a day in car jams then take up valuable city space to park their cars for 10 hours a day.

  • @INatalkaI Well, obviously, public transportation, long-term rezoning to allow more mixed-use zones, and other efforts to make cities more walkable and bike-able, are all laudible. My real concern is rural folk- I have to go to town to get supplies, there's no way around it (unless I want to significantly lower my standard of living- and even then, classical self-sufficiency isn't always an option for us), and that means I have to drive, and bring a vehicle into town.

  • But there is such a stigma attached to taking pub. transport. It's like you have to be super poor or have leprosy to get on. It's an imagined barrier that keeps many people from saving money, time, natural resources and space.

  • @INatalkaI That seems bizarre to me; if I had public transportation, I'd take it all the time. We've begged the state to extend the North Star line, and I've written stern letters about the lack of intercity public transport. But, as far within-the-city transport, I must admit ignorance; when I'm in town, it's with a car- how else could I get into town? It's a few hours by bike, even longer by horse or cart, and a day by foot, and I need to buy things I can't grow, make, or get from neighbors.

  • 5 Things Cities Can learn from Burning A Human Man Alive.

  • @backonbothsides that was i was expecting to see reading that title, I was like WTF lol.

  • haha... hippievile. good place for hippies to ride their bicycles and not so much else.

  • @CT2507 the "man" is our corrupt government and bad vibes haha

  • @CT2507 You forgot the unbelievable amount of drugs

  • @dieselscience yea, im sure your right.

  • Eric Cartman on YOU.!!!

  • daa fuck

  • you know Cartman would kill them all.

  • god damn hippies

  • 6: Hippies, watch out!

  • What a gang of stupid motherfuckers xD

  • Wow, talk about insta-hate <.< Usually you'd have SOME people defending it, but it seems EVERYONE are STRONGLY oposed to this video? o.O

    What's up with that?

It's got 64 likes for crying out loud, where are the comments that DON'T think all artists are america-hating commie terrorists?

  • @aerion111 the vid is fine, the hate comments come from idiots. US is going down because of those.

  • @dumbnetworks

US is going down because of feminism and racial tolerance. Not because of trolls.

  • /watch?v=w6sELKtZy3g

  • burning man™

  • another example of why we need to expand our prison system. since when was dicking around and rallying around hollow "liberal" ideals a good thing? enough of this nonsense! i'm 24 and i can only hope that my peers, and moreover my future generations, will still understand that hard work and time-tested values are needed for society.

these "liberating" activities only spawn more excuses to not contribute to an orderly society.

  • @sfg078 shut the fuck up you ignorant cunt

  • @skrausz2005 you're proving my point splendidly. good luck in life. lolz.

  • Respond to this video...

  • @sfg078 Orderly societies are important to fascists.

I understand. At 24 I thought I had things figured out too (though I wasn't as far off base). Hopefully with some life experience, you will open your eyes/mind over the next 24 years and maybe question the brainwashing you were given by your ignorant daddy. See you at BM 2035

And regarding prisons - Too many of our citizens are in prison unjustly. Keep the violent ones, let the rest out to be productive members of society (orderly or not).

  • @stevem67 Fascism is what these fucking hippies need.

  • @HyakuZaku lol whats your problem? =)

  • @sfg078 yup

  • Yeah, no.1 thing cities should learn is: don't let diluted new age trash have any rights and keep yuppie douche bags from realizing these atrocious unicorn-esque daydreams...anybody can do acid and think well with the Vedas and Native Americans...but these are the same shit bags bastardizing the same cultures and ceremonies...rule number 1: INDIANS HATE HIPPIES!!!

  • @altnoiseproject ...just a bunch of lost people trying to create culture to make up for lack there of...bottom feeders.

  • ...though they are hilarious to make fun of...kind of like a social special olympics team...they'll always be retarded...always...well, 'til they die I guess...and thats a good thought...dead garbage, setltling thought...

  • Lol, look at these comments. People are so freaking cynical. But seriously, this looks like a lot of fun. I'd love to go sometime. Man, if the world looked like that all the time, that'd be my kinda life.

  • Sorry i dont want to pay 200 dollars to stand around smelly hippies and douchey hipsters
