best way is to buy an usb zip drive and use a program to cut your samples e.g bias peak. put that on a disk and load that in your su700 (same as with mpc as more people do this) you can't get standard octaves and ranges for the samples but you can pitch the sample.
i will read better the manual because in the Quantize section it talks about the Groove group and a Slice function to chop sample into pieces...maybe is only a "sound" feature not a phisical slice...
there is no auto slice like mv8800 or mpc 1000/ 2500 / 4000 RS7000 etc so chops need to be done manually. You can resample and the Roll only works with the pads. Ribbon can be used for all the knob function parameters.
could you please tell me if with Slice function we can chop sample to the pads and then resample them?Could also use ROLL with the ribbon as with kaoss pad to make sick rolled snare drum (like d'n'b style)?
Gotta love the things you can do with this machine. it's so fucking powerful. People who haven't really used it don't get it. If you give the su7oo some time, it will give back more than you ever thought you could put into it. It took me a few years to figure that out.
yeah, my knobs went down too .. but i ordered a new set of pots and soldered them in.. works like new. i have a rs7000 too, a very nice audio/midi machine but it has a different feel than the su700 .. in fact they are both different machines. i made tracks with the su which i never can do with the rs and visa versa.. nowadays with software and controllers combined with ableton the su looks a bit outdated, but still many artists work with it and the machines still goes deep.
@8golftango if you can open it up and find the spec written on the pots already inside (or on the board where the pots join it) you can get them from any electronics parts supplier
on the su700 can I export synth patches made from things like logic and sample them through it?

where did you order the pots from? Yamaha, or somewhere else? Mine are starting to go, although they still clean up with contact cleaner....so far

The su700 was my first bit of gear lust in '98 I think.
I love the big transport on it. The knobs always looked like they wouldn't hold up, how did they work out and how are the vol pads on it ?
Nice work on that, thought wtf at first and then relised iot was the ending of your set lol
