Kurt is a countertenor! He's the best singer on the show! I don't hate Rachel's version but Kurt just sings girl songs better, and girls aren't always better. There are tons of guys who are a whole bunch better than a lot of other girls...

They were born with squeaky voices, and no matter how many voice lessons they take to "tame" their shrill sound, they will still sound essentially the same. And it's NOT Idina Menzel who's the Queen of Squeaky Voices -- it's the legendary Aretha Franklin, who ironically sounds like the one who idolizes her, American Idol "Donald Duck on steroids"-voiced Fantasia Barrino.

Chris' version had more meaning behind it because of Kurt's storyline but if you put that aside and focus solely on vocals, Lea sang the song so much better than him. It's especially noticeable in the episode when Kurt starts to sing the song and then you hear Rachel's part because her voice just sounds so sweet and angelic at the beginning.

I do not watch Glee (yet). But I have been watching Chris Colfer tubes on here--and I am gay. I prefer Lea's rendition because it isn't pitched as high, and she sings it like she is in the part. Chris sings it in his own style, but he pitches much too high and I have excellent hearing.
