These are by far the best cocktail tutorials that exist on the internet. Bartender is awesome and his accent makes it even better for some reason. Well done. I'd love to see one for a Sazerac!
@Leo7Leo when you squeeze the orange peel (or "snap" as bartenders sometimes say), oil from the skin sprays out. Its flammable so obviously when it hits the flame it ignites and makes a small fireball, try it, its a good party trick haha
@barkleysound The flame should brush the surface of the drink and the warm oils should spray over the surface, creating an instant aroma and flavour. Wipe the peel around the rim and slip into the drink.
@shlokda When you put the lime wedge into the shaker, you'll get very fragrant oils from the skin incorporated into the drink. For a citrusy drink like the Cosmopolitan, this can really improve your cocktail. In a Daiquiri for example, I would (personally) not do that, as I want more of the rum to shine through.
i just went to shaker. i personally like instead of citrus vodka i used sky vanilla it maintained a extremely good sweetness and the aftertaste of vanilla was amazing.
@18ps3anos yup it is - no idea why, maybe because of its pink color? or the fact that it is drinked mostly by woman and became famous since "Sex and the City"?
Bravo! The first tutorial that have it all right with the perfect ingredients! Watch the barschool vids for a laugh. lol the guys a tool, in one of them he almost knocks the glass over.
I mastered this drink years ago, when my schoolteacher taught me how to make it,I always only add a small amount of cranberry juice to make it a clear pink.
And liberal amounts of Vodka.Great nightlife and party drink.
id rather it stirred . . it doesnt turns "pink" and Cointreau doesnt get bruised
The orange wedge is too big for a cocktail glass, besides you are repeating the trick one drink after another. Try with the twist. In my personal style i add a cherry, it goes down to the bottom, but once again . . it doesnt looks like it should if you shake the drink too much
hello! i´m really impressed by the way you mixing your drinks..and how they look when they finish..superb!! i just want to say that i´m working as a bartender myself in the middle of beautiful sweden, and i´m doing all this drinks you do to people in the club i´m working on.. i just think its funny because the world seems so small=) keep up the good work..thank you

I love how you do the cocktails with great speed while still giving all the relevant information and maintain the quality. So that is at which speed you should basically be able to mix the drink as a bartender, not slower, not faster.
How do you make your orange skin explode that way? I've eaten 3 oranges trying that and I still don't get that effect!

How come in some drinks you squeeze the wedges and leave them in, and others you juice into a measure then just add the juice before shaking?

There is Sohopolitan as well. You use Absolute Mandrin instead of normal vodka or in this case citrus vodka.

I believe it should be a lime wedge. The sweet orange in cointreau is already enough orange flavour.
TristansVid 2 years ago
@maxismx Bruised cointreau? What a load of rubbish.
