  • I have a Palm Pre Plus with a now Non-functioning keyboard. I have never synced it with my PC. How do I get my contacts to my new iPhone 4?? Help!! I have OODLES of work contacts that I need desperately!!

I contacted Palm and they said I couldn't transfer MY contacts to a non-WebOS device!!! PLEASE HELP!!

  • Please is there anyway I get transfer the contacts from my palm Pre to my computer?

  • @obaae You can use CompanionLink to sync your Palm Pre contacts into Outlook or Palm Desktop on the PC. You can also setup Synergy on your Pre to sync contacts to Google, and use CompanionLink to sync Google with your PC.

  • The idiocy of creating something that could have been a great product and taken many business men and women by storm is astonishing. What kind of "leader" in Palm would have NOT seen the NEED to sync directly from the Palm phone to a desktop?? Talk about being OUT OF TOUCH with REAL people!! Do these people live in a shoe? The deserve to go belly up!!!! Get real, Google does NOT rule the world, and businesses in general couldn't give a hoot about Google!!

  • what about getting my music off my phone into something on my computer and then to be able to organize it in playlists and then put it back on my phone.

  • @misule21 Unfortunately, CompanionLink doesn't do anything with Music.

  • I've been a Palm business user since it was Palm Pilot. And I have to say that this Pre is great. Just $39.95 to keep using Desktop. And another $39.95 to keep using Memo, where I have 400 bids recorded.

So Palm gives the shaft to its user base yet again, Which is exactly how Bill Gates became one of the richest men in the world.

    NOT.

No wonder Palm is going belly up.

  • where can i get the driver files for the palm pre. my PC dosnt install them and all i get is a big FU from my PC

  • @nintendoscarface1982 Software for your PC to recognize your Palm device should have come with your phone.

  • @nintendoscarface1982 nope it never did but anyway what ive done was did a hard reboot/restore so now its working like new. but i really apprieciated the video

bad spelling bought to you by the NYC heat wave

  • This unbelievable. I just bought a Palm Pre and assumed I could sort all my contacts out using the Palm Desktop but now I see you have to via Google. All I want to do is sync direct to my PC liek I can with my other Palm products.

  • Good..i installed the Companionlink software...i try to sync but then a pop up i s telling me that UNABLE TO ACCES GOOGLE CALENDAR:PLEASE CREATE A RECORD IN GOOGLE CALENDAR...What a hell is this?? somebody could help me out?

  • You need to create at least one contact and one calendar event in your Google account. Try doing this first, then synchronizing.

  • I really rely on my Treo Memos, I must have over 500 of them for passwords, financial data, shopping lists, recipes and much more. So why doesn't my stupid Palm Pre have the capacity for me to move my memos over? My Pre sucks, I'm tossing in the towel and getting a Blackberry so I don't have to give ALL my data to the "cloud".

  • CompanionLink has developed a solution to solve this. We have a custom Memos app for the Pre and Pixi. It's available in the CL USB Sync app on the Palm App Catalog. Supports sort, categories, and priorities.

  • Ya well I'm disgusted. The Pre salesmen said oh yeah, you can still HotSync. WRONG. And the companionlink from google is $100???? WTF. I want to sync to my PC and avoid the web. What's wrong w/ this picture? Big brother???!!!!

  • yeah, i want to sync to my computer. Not to the world. why would i want Google or cyberspace to have all my info?!?!?! I might be using my Centro for the rest of my life.

  • But don't the tasks sync in the calendar? Not the same!

  • Just to be very clear here. You CAN NOT directly sync the Palm Pre with your Palm Desktop Software. You have to sync your Palm Pre with Google, then sync Google with your Palm Desktop. Some body correct me if wrong.

They start by telling you to:

    1. Sync your Palm Desktop with Google. Then

    2. Sync your Palm Pre with Google (which is is now holding all your Palm Desktop info)

    3. So you are always going through Google.

I don't want all my personal contacts out on the Internet

    This is weird

  • @elliotholden Thanks for that very clear explanation!

  • Be very careful using companionlink (for google). I tried the software last year and just recently. Both times it ended up munging my data, duplicating contacts and so on. It is not a simple/reliable way to sync data between palm and google.

  • Cut out the middle man!! Obsurd.

  • Howabout a Mac compatible version? Looks like Win only.

  • Yeah, but what if I don't want my info on Google Calendar?

Or, what if I don't have access to the internet when I want to sync so that I don't lose any data since the SD card slot has also been removed?

  • Looks good. Many of us who only use DT apps now are looknig for a clean way to do this.

  • This is great, if this works I will be using this, so that I can maintain my palm desktop with my Pre. Not a fan of Google but sounds like a great middle man.
