aunque eres muy fan de Tarja como seamos realistas. no tiene la mejor técnica, y esa aria requiere aparte cosas que la naturaleza da como la facilidad de coloratura, Tarja no la tiene! Gheorghiu y Netrebko tampoco y por eso se les nota más esfuerzo de lo comun al cantar los legatos y los sobreagudos de esta aria.

No se quien te tuvo engañado, pero el aria del minuto 1:23 se llama Sempre Libera y Tarja te lo juro NUNCA PODRÍA CANTAR ESO (y no ha interpretado a Violetta tampoco). Esa aria requiere coloratura, y Tarja turunen no tiene esa agilidad... hasta a la misma Netrebko con entrenamiento y se le nota lenta en los legatos.. pues imagínate a Tarja que tiene menos agilidad.

@Amaranth2020 Tener un timbre oscuro no es un defecto, , es un cualidad. Muchas veces un timbre oscuro conlleva una voz muy grande pero menos agilidad en la voz. Las voces ligeras o claras tienden a tener más esta agilidad, pero casi no tienen volumen (como la mía). A excepcion de Callas, que podía hacer lo anterior todo junto jajaja.. Aunque también oscurecer el timbre es falta de técnica en determinados casos, lo más probable esque Tarja haya mejorado , por eso notas eso.

Ya que yo en ningun momento dije que tener un timbre oscuro sea malo, todo lo contrario me parece que es algo interesante en una soprano como Tarja, ya que por eso mismo tiene buenos graves y sabe utilizarlos muy bien. bueno tambien hay casos como el tuyo, voz clara y volumen bajo. Pero esta S. brightman, voz clara vol alto.Aunque definitivamente M. Callas es otro nivel de soprano, sobre todo en su interpretacion de O mio Babbino caro.
@Amaranth2020 De hecho sí, has escuchado a Cecilia Bartoli emitir un Mi sobreagudo? SÍ UN E6!! siendo mezzo! pero si lo comparas con el de una soprano (como el E6 de Natalie Dessay) hasta parecen diferentes notas, pero son las mismas!! y es por el timbre de voz.. mezzo = timbre más oscuro.
@necrogoddess Entiendo, Aunque en realidad no tengo tanto estudio para diferenciar esas notas. Solo estuve en un coro cuando pequeño y aprendí algo de piano y guitarra.

Podra Traja ser mejor entrenada, pero el timbre de Floor en lo personal me gusta mas... Traja solia tragarse la voz (sonar mas oscurecia de lo que es [un error en la opera] ) por eso su sonido lo trata de hacer mas abierto en vivo....Sin embargo en Floor no sucede esto, su tecnica es totalmente natural...
@rey982 SEguro que sí. porque al estar tanto tiempo con una banda como NW, su voz necesariamente tenía que ser oscura para interpretar muchas canciones, asi que yo pienso que ella se acostumbró a cantar así. Pero eso ahora a cambiado un poco y uno se da cuenta al escuchar su último album "What lies beneath", su voz es más clara.
@rey982 Sí, Tarja ha mejorado mucho. Aunque Floor tambien tiene muy buena voz, pero prefiero a Tarja, TAnto en la música clásica como ahora en el powermetal. Muchos hablan de su timbre oscuro, pero hoy en día ella puede aclarar mucho éste. Y como mencionas en el nuevo album que sacó se puede apreciar mejor.

It took me several years of singing lessons to realise that they are mediocre, the only one I'm saving, and I'm sure you're going to laugh at me because what most people rely on to judge a singer are her high notes and NOTHING else, is Simone.
i love both.. they´re my favourite singers but i have to say TARJA.. in my opinion she has better voice especially in high notes.. Floor´s highs sounds to me little forced Tarja sings them wider more naturally sounding.. still tarja is N1 for me.. Floor N2/3
The queen of metal is FLOOR without any doubt. She's so versatil, she has a lovely , magnificient, divine ,powerful voice. Tarja is also great but....she is always the same...you know ..sometimes kinda boring...

I like Floor but I heard so many times how terrible her voice can crack in some high notes..sooooooo many times. And I never heard Tarjas voice crack,never. But I like them both in early times. So Floor in Prison of desire and decipher..perfect. And Tarja on oceanborn and wishmaster...perfect.

@liricobarroco lo siento, pero no puedo creer que sea ella, la he escuchado cantar arias y no posee esa calidad vocal, su vibrato es mas lento y su voz es más oscura, aparte la del minuto 1:36 tiene un timbre más claro incluso que la del 1:23.
Vi un video de ella cantando libiamo.. de la traviata en el Festival de Ópera de Savonlinna y es muy diferente!!
la escuché cantando pie jesu y o mio babbino caro en el mismo festival, donde sus notas altas se diferencian aun más de las que te marqué.

@Frigg567 no entiendo a que le llamas un timbre oscuro?? porque Tarja puede aclarar bastanta su voz y mas en las notas agudas es una soprano lirica y es obvio que cualquier soprano al inicio de sus estudios vocales cante piezas para media voz no para mezzosoprano, y hay muchos metodos para la voz media o mezzavoce tarja ha dicho que cuando inicio cantó para mezzavoce no para mezzo pues ella siembre ha sido Soprano.
Notarías la diferencia al instante si Tarja cantara cualquier canción de Sarah Brightman aun cuando cantan las mismas notas no? Eso lo hace el timbre.
La voz de Sarah es más clara aun siendo las dos sopranos, el timbre característico de Tarja la hace una soprano lírica, un sonido más profundo, con mejores graves que la soprano ligera, ni una es mejor que la otra, tienen sus cualidades y límites. Y aunque veo que eres super fan de Tarja, deberías ser objetivo en tus comentarios
@Frigg567 Claro que se la diferencia estudio Opera en Santa cecilia de Roma, se perfectamente los matices vocales de cada voz. y no soy para nada un fan de tarja es solo que TEcnicamente es la soprano mejor preparada en todo el metal. tiene menos errores vocales que la misma Sarah Brightman ambas cantando musica popular. saludos

Floor is an awesome rock/metal singer, she is one of the best singers of this genre perhaps the best
But she doesn't sing opera, the girl studied opera just for one year and it's not time enough to develop well the singing technique used by opera singers
Floor studied seriously the technique called belting since she is formed in musical theatre and does it really well

Floor follows the singing method of Catherine Sadolin and teach it in private singing lessons in her own home studio, I don't know if this singing method is good or not
Floor Jansen is my favorite, Tarja is a great singer no denial there but when i saw her live she kind of wails out the lyrics, Floor has one of the most powerful voices i'v ever heard

It's true. Floor has a better control with her voice and she can sing things which Tarja would never be able to sing, the perfect example is "Face your Demons" from Remagine Album by After Forever.
But Tarja has improved her voice quite a bit, and I prefer her voice, it's just personal taste.
If she has better control in her voice why she always fail the hight note in MPE 1, Tarja never fail the high notes! Tarja sing more hight and TArja alwas sing a truely hight notes!
No no, I'm not saying that Floor has better vibrato. In fact I haven't heard her vibrato in the classical way. But trust me... you can compare Tarja's vibrato (in classical voice) even with Sarah Brightman or someone like that. It's too weak.

La cosa no es que Floor llegue más arriba, sino que, Floor juega más con su voz... Tarja suele cantar sólo con agudos... eso es algo cargante a veces. Yo tenía que dejar de escuchar Nightwish para no saturarme. EN cambio After Forever, puedo oírlo noche y día, porque Floor usa tonos de contra alto Y de soprano.

En eso tienes razón, Floor es muy versátil, y eso antes no me gustaba nada de ella, que cantaba con una voz muy normal y común y luego la cambiaba por una muy operística, de soprano, no me gustaban esas mezclas, pero después me acostumbré y me gusto mucho. Y pues eso de Nightwish es cuestión de gustos, a mí nunca me aburrió ni me saturé de la voz de Tarja, me fascinaba!! y aún me sigue fascinando, igual que Floor, en fin, las dos son excelentes! es porque Floor tiene un mayor rango vocal. Tarja tiende a cantarmaslos agudos porque los medios o bajos no le suenan del todo bien. floor canta de todo porque puede. tal vez floor tenga un mayor rango vocal y una voz unica enciertos momentos pero tarja me pareceque tiene una mejor voz. sin duda alguna son las reinas, sirenas, diosas o como se lesquiera llamar de este genero

tarja tends to throw the air of her throat to the paladar instead of outside the mouth,that is a barbarian thing to do for an opera singer,she does it to sound heavier,but she is not a dramatic one,is a spinto soprano as heavier as she tries to sound...and well,about floor,she is still lacking technique while live performances,but we haven't heard or known about her full vocal range...floor is a lyric soprano but has an extended vocal range and rumours say it is even further than tarja's
Tarja is a Lyric soprano actually. Her range is too limited and she can't sing high notes with her natural voice, plus she can't belt at all. Floor's is obviously wider, and her voice is also much more powerful than any other singers'. Her technique is superior, as well! :)
Tarja can hit an F while vocalizing, actually. And that's not included in her octave count. And her classical technique is much better than Floor's.
But I'm not bashing Floor. She is an amazing singer-- obviously-- not to mention her voice is different than Tarja's. They're two different types of sopranos, so obviously one can sing what the other can't and vice versa.
I can agree that Floor overcomes Tarja in meny diversitets but this video is strictly about classical and operatic notes which Tarja is better at and it is a fact so dont try to argue against it and just face that Tarja is better in classical and Floor better in others..

I wouldn't be so sure about the classical part either. Opera isn't just about hitting high notes; it's also about technique.
Tarja's voice is very unsteady; it's a technique that worked great with metal, but makes for sub-par opera.
Besides, seeing as how both Tarja and Floor have gained their fame and fortune not as sopranos (and indeed, they could not have since there are way better sopranos out there) but as metal singers, I would argue it's of little relevance who can sing better opera.
Well, Have you seen FLoor singing Ave Maria?, Have you seen the video when she sings with Valtari?, Tarja can do far more better opera than she have showed in her Solo Carrier and Nightwish!...Watch the video in my profile (favourites when she sings with Valtari, Floor is not even close on being able to do that.
I never said Floor was an uber opera singer. I just said Tarja wasn't much good at opera either, so it was mostly pointless to compare. And yes, I did say Floor had some strong points Tarja didn't have (a more steady voice) and she IS constantly working on her skills.
And yes, I did hear Tarja sing opera, but nothing that impressed me so far. She's not overly bad, but I doubt she ever would have gained much attention through a career exclusively in opera. IMO she was much more suited to metal.
You can't even compare them. I like Tarja, whatever she did to be a bitchy drama queen, but she's nowhere near the diva Floor is.
Unlike most other singers of this genre, Floor can belt out metal better than most men and but can still sound smooth and beautiful, sometimes even in the same song. Tarja has a beautiful voice but doesn't have very much variation in the way she sings.
OH my! where in life did some of you guys got blindly attached to a stranger (Tarja). Opera wise Tarja is more trained, but on everything else Floor wipes to "floor" with her!! Haha Floor....floor..... get it :P
Tarja is superior in only one way: she has better production on her albums.

Also, @frankdakilla, I find Tarja's voice suits metal music quite well, but it's too unsteady for opera music; but neither Tarja nor Floor shine as opera singers, so I won't even bother to argue about who's better at that.
If you listen closely Floor's voice is alot higher than tarja's and she can also sing with her chest vocals. tarja can't even attempt to sing chest vocals and when she does she sounds like a dying cat. therefore Floor is way better!

She can sound like a dramatic, lyric, ligero, spinto soprano, and even like a bass! It only depends on what vocal register she uses, pitch and loudness!

Floor could EASILY sing any Coloratura songs, and she usually DOES sing like a dramatic soprano! Dramatic sopranos have the most powerful voices actually.
Tarja isn't a dramatic soprano, by the way. She's a FULL LYRIC soprano, with 3 octaves vocal range. She said that herself! :)
And don't forget that FLOOR always tries new techniques and her voice continues to grow. She sings better opera comparing to 2004, it is clear as a sky. And don't even compare FLOOR's god given powerful voice to any other female vocals. FLOOR ALL THE WAY!!!
I have all the DVD's of Nightwish. And I have one DivX quality of Live At Pinkpop of After Forever shot in 2004. If there would be a fire in my apartment I'd save the divx without having second thoughts :) FLOOR JANSEN is phenomenal. I have watched that concert 100 times maybe more (literally), a live performance couldn't go better than that....
Floor es mucho mejor cantante. Tiene una voz muy honesta, llena de expresividad, es impecable. La tarja aveces usa recursos q demeritan su interpretación, aunque también me gusta. Pero Floor es verdaderamente unica!
Sí, digo lo mismo. Floor me transmite más que Tarja, aunque admire muchísimo a esta última... Arriba Floor! Además... Sus líricas son preciosas, hablan de cosas muy ciertas, logra que la gente se identifique.

Let's be honest,Floor is the best singer in metal,she's the most versate.She really has worked on her voice and she sings with her heart.
Tarja didn't worked on her voice,plus it sounds really cold,lacking of emotions...in my opinion she's far away from an angel.

No se quien te tuvo engañado, pero el aria del minuto 1:23 se llama Sempre Libera y Tarja te lo juro NUNCA PODRÍA CANTAR ESO (y no ha interpretado a Violetta tampoco). Esa aria requiere coloratura, y Tarja turunen no tiene esa agilidad... hasta a la misma Netrebko con entrenamiento y se le nota lenta en los legatos.. pues imagínate a Tarja que tiene menos agilidad.
Esa voz que nos muestras se parece mucho a la de Renee Fleming:

Floor Jansen gana por mucho!...la voz de Tarja es muy limitada, limitando al mismo tiempo la música y canciones que puede cantar.
Floor Jansen posee una voz tan potente como Tarja, pero además puede ser agresiva o suave según requiera, además de que últimamente hace guturales
Y coincido con tefalovett, me agrada más el timbre de Floor que el de Tarja...y su actitud en los conciertos...y su música...

@Dathir Yo pienso que ambas pueden llegar a las mismas notas, claro que con un timbre distinto. El de Floor es muy claro, mientras que el de Tarja es oscuro. aunque Tarja tambien puede aclarar su voz, y eso es de lo más evidente en su nuevo album. No creo para nada que Floor le de una paliza a Tarja. Ambas son buenas cantantes, con voces muy respetables, dentro o fuera del metal. Pero personalmente prefiero a tarja, con canciones como "the phantom of the opera" o una clásica "Music of the night"

@Amaranth2020 Tener un timbre oscuro no es un defecto, , es un cualidad. Muchas veces un timbre oscuro conlleva una voz muy grande pero menos agilidad en la voz. Las voces ligeras o claras tienden a tener más esta agilidad, pero casi no tienen volumen (como la mía). A excepcion de Callas, que podía hacer lo anterior todo junto jajaja.. Aunque también oscurecer el timbre es falta de técnica en determinados casos, lo más probable esque Tarja haya mejorado , por eso notas eso.

@necrogoddess Estoy totalmente de acuerdo contigo. Ya que yo en ningun momento dije que tener un timbre oscuro sea malo, todo lo contrario me parece que es algo interesante en una soprano como Tarja, ya que por eso mismo tiene buenos graves y sabe utilizarlos muy bien. bueno tambien hay casos como el tuyo, voz clara y volumen bajo. Pero esta S. brightman, voz clara vol alto.Aunque definitivamente M. Callas es otro nivel de soprano, sobre todo en su interpretacion de O mio Babbino caro.

@Amaranth2020 De hecho sí, has escuchado a Cecilia Bartoli emitir un Mi sobreagudo? SÍ UN E6!! siendo mezzo! pero si lo comparas con el de una soprano (como el E6 de Natalie Dessay) hasta parecen diferentes notas, pero son las mismas!! y es por el timbre de voz.. mezzo = timbre más oscuro.

Podra Traja ser mejor entrenada, pero el timbre de Floor en lo personal me gusta mas... Traja solia tragarse la voz (sonar mas oscurecia de lo que es [un error en la opera] ) por eso su sonido lo trata de hacer mas abierto en vivo....Sin embargo en Floor no sucede esto, su tecnica es totalmente natural...

@rey982 SEguro que sí. porque al estar tanto tiempo con una banda como NW, su voz necesariamente tenía que ser oscura para interpretar muchas canciones, asi que yo pienso que ella se acostumbró a cantar así. Pero eso ahora a cambiado un poco y uno se da cuenta al escuchar su último album "What lies beneath", su voz es más clara.

@rey982 Sí, Tarja ha mejorado mucho. Aunque Floor tambien tiene muy buena voz, pero prefiero a Tarja, TAnto en la música clásica como ahora en el powermetal. Muchos hablan de su timbre oscuro, pero hoy en día ella puede aclarar mucho éste. Y como mencionas en el nuevo album que sacó se puede apreciar mejor.

Its the amazing versatility that wins it. After Forever enjoyed such amazing range because of her. I dont know of any other singer that could do that.

I like Floor but I heard so many times how terrible her voice can crack in some high notes..sooooooo many times. And I never heard Tarjas voice crack,never. But I like them both in early times. So Floor in Prison of desire and decipher..perfect. And Tarja on oceanborn and wishmaster...perfect.

1.23 Tarja Turunen traviata, y 1.36 Tarja turunen a los 16 años cantando Romeo Ja Julia. ambos documentados en Savonlinna Opera Finlandia, y si la colocacion de Tarja al cantar diferentes tipos musicales es realemte direrente a lo que hizo en metal. como podes darte cuenta.

@liricobarroco lo siento, pero no puedo creer que sea ella, la he escuchado cantar arias y no posee esa calidad vocal, su vibrato es mas lento y su voz es más oscura, aparte la del minuto 1:36 tiene un timbre más claro incluso que la del 1:23.
Vi un video de ella cantando libiamo.. de la traviata en el Festival de Ópera de Savonlinna y es muy diferente!!
la escuché cantando pie jesu y o mio babbino caro en el mismo festival, donde sus notas altas se diferencian aun más de las que te marqué.

@Frigg567 no entiendo a que le llamas un timbre oscuro?? porque Tarja puede aclarar bastanta su voz y mas en las notas agudas es una soprano lirica y es obvio que cualquier soprano al inicio de sus estudios vocales cante piezas para media voz no para mezzosoprano, y hay muchos metodos para la voz media o mezzavoce tarja ha dicho que cuando inicio cantó para mezzavoce no para mezzo pues ella siembre ha sido Soprano.

Notarías la diferencia al instante si Tarja cantara cualquier canción de Sarah Brightman aun cuando cantan las mismas notas no? Eso lo hace el timbre.
La voz de Sarah es más clara aun siendo las dos sopranos, el timbre característico de Tarja la hace una soprano lírica, un sonido más profundo, con mejores graves que la soprano ligera, ni una es mejor que la otra, tienen sus cualidades y límites. Y aunque veo que eres super fan de Tarja, deberías ser objetivo en tus comentarios

@Frigg567 Claro que se la diferencia estudio Opera en Santa cecilia de Roma, se perfectamente los matices vocales de cada voz. y no soy para nada un fan de tarja es solo que TEcnicamente es la soprano mejor preparada en todo el metal. tiene menos errores vocales que la misma Sarah Brightman ambas cantando musica popular. saludos

Floor is an awesome rock/metal singer, she is one of the best singers of this genre perhaps the best
But she doesn't sing opera, the girl studied opera just for one year and it's not time enough to develop well the singing technique used by opera singers
Floor studied seriously the technique called belting since she is formed in musical theatre and does it really well

Floor follows the singing method of Catherine Sadolin and teach it in private singing lessons in her own home studio, I don't know if this singing method is good or not

It's true. Floor has a better control with her voice and she can sing things which Tarja would never be able to sing, the perfect example is "Face your Demons" from Remagine Album by After Forever.
But Tarja has improved her voice quite a bit, and I prefer her voice, it's just personal taste.

La cosa no es que Floor llegue más arriba, sino que, Floor juega más con su voz... Tarja suele cantar sólo con agudos... eso es algo cargante a veces. Yo tenía que dejar de escuchar Nightwish para no saturarme. EN cambio After Forever, puedo oírlo noche y día, porque Floor usa tonos de contra alto Y de soprano.

En eso tienes razón, Floor es muy versátil, y eso antes no me gustaba nada de ella, que cantaba con una voz muy normal y común y luego la cambiaba por una muy operística, de soprano, no me gustaban esas mezclas, pero después me acostumbré y me gusto mucho. Y pues eso de Nightwish es cuestión de gustos, a mí nunca me aburrió ni me saturé de la voz de Tarja, me fascinaba!! y aún me sigue fascinando, igual que Floor, en fin, las dos son excelentes! Tarja tiende a cantarmaslos agudos porque los medios o bajos no le suenan del todo bien. floor canta de todo porque puede. tal vez floor tenga un mayor rango vocal y una voz unica enciertos momentos pero tarja me pareceque tiene una mejor voz. sin duda alguna son las reinas, sirenas, diosas o como se lesquiera llamar de este genero

tarja tends to throw the air of her throat to the paladar instead of outside the mouth,that is a barbarian thing to do for an opera singer,she does it to sound heavier,but she is not a dramatic one,is a spinto soprano as heavier as she tries to sound...and well,about floor,she is still lacking technique while live performances,but we haven't heard or known about her full vocal range...floor is a lyric soprano but has an extended vocal range and rumours say it is even further than tarja's

Tarja is a Lyric soprano actually. Her range is too limited and she can't sing high notes with her natural voice, plus she can't belt at all. Floor's is obviously wider, and her voice is also much more powerful than any other singers'. Her technique is superior, as well! :)

Tarja can hit an F while vocalizing, actually. And that's not included in her octave count. And her classical technique is much better than Floor's.
But I'm not bashing Floor. She is an amazing singer-- obviously-- not to mention her voice is different than Tarja's. They're two different types of sopranos, so obviously one can sing what the other can't and vice versa.

Um, to be honest, in this video I really like Tarja's voice very much, she sounds really good compared to what she used to sound like when she was singing in Nightwish! Now she sounds more like a soprano!
I think that she improved 100%! :)

because her powerfull and beutiful voice can sing all kind of music, not just opera, but heavy metal too

No one could sing like her! LOL, I can't even imagine anyone else TRYING to sing "Energize Me", "Emphasis", or any other AF song! =))
Floor has the most beautiful vocal timbre I've ever heard in my life, and definitely the most powerful and versatile voice in Metal! :D

Um no Floor does not hit higher notes than Tarja...Floor cant even hit the si4 and she struggels on My Pledge Of Alligience while Tarja hit those notes like they were nothing!
Yeah sure Floor have a better lower register and a normal voice..but people call Floor and Tarja for sopranos and in that genre Tarja is ahead over Floor and it is a fact so dont respond back if you have something that speaks against that.

I know Tarja overcomes floor in the classical part which clearly this video is about!
But I wont denie that Floor wins over Tarja in every other genre and most aspects!

I wouldn't be so sure about the classical part either. Opera isn't just about hitting high notes; it's also about technique.
Tarja's voice is very unsteady; it's a technique that worked great with metal, but makes for sub-par opera.
Besides, seeing as how both Tarja and Floor have gained their fame and fortune not as sopranos (and indeed, they could not have since there are way better sopranos out there) but as metal singers, I would argue it's of little relevance who can sing better opera.

Well, Have you seen FLoor singing Ave Maria?, Have you seen the video when she sings with Valtari?, Tarja can do far more better opera than she have showed in her Solo Carrier and Nightwish!...Watch the video in my profile (favourites when she sings with Valtari, Floor is not even close on being able to do that.

I never said Floor was an uber opera singer. I just said Tarja wasn't much good at opera either, so it was mostly pointless to compare. And yes, I did say Floor had some strong points Tarja didn't have (a more steady voice) and she IS constantly working on her skills.
And yes, I did hear Tarja sing opera, but nothing that impressed me so far. She's not overly bad, but I doubt she ever would have gained much attention through a career exclusively in opera. IMO she was much more suited to metal.

The audio on this video is horrible.
You can't even compare them. I like Tarja, whatever she did to be a bitchy drama queen, but she's nowhere near the diva Floor is.
Unlike most other singers of this genre, Floor can belt out metal better than most men and but can still sound smooth and beautiful, sometimes even in the same song. Tarja has a beautiful voice but doesn't have very much variation in the way she sings.

Tarja is superior in only one way: she has better production on her albums.
Every other way, Floor could beat her to death with her own echo. I mean just listen to both Tarja and Floor live and see if you can still say Tarja sings better.
Also, @frankdakilla, I find Tarja's voice suits metal music quite well, but it's too unsteady for opera music; but neither Tarja nor Floor shine as opera singers, so I won't even bother to argue about who's better at that.

If you listen closely Floor's voice is alot higher than tarja's and she can also sing with her chest vocals. tarja can't even attempt to sing chest vocals and when she does she sounds like a dying cat. therefore Floor is way better!

Just because Tarja can hit higher notes says nothing..Tarja is a Full lyric Soprano its only natural she'd have the range to cover those notes. However the fact that you stated Floor has a better lower registry *And shes just a soprano means she does utilize her voice better ergo She being the better singer:)
PS: Its more termed as a "pop" voice instead of normal voice....

Are you deaf or what? Floor does hit HIGH notes both in chest and head voices. Tarja is just singing low, like a man. By the way, she was naturally a mezzo soprano, and her "high" notes are obviously a torture for her, LOL! She should just keep singing low because her high notes make my ears bleed.
Floor is the best singer in the world! She can sing anything and her vibrato is always natural/unforced! Tarja's vibrato is fake and annoying!

Floor is better than Tarja in some parts in music but Tarja is also better than Floor in some parts! Vibrato is natural, it COMES natural. There is nothing wrong with that. Some singers are advised not to use certain types of vibrato, that's all.
I love Tarja's high notes. But I don't like the one's where Floor's voice cracks.

Tarja CAN'T belt, that's true, but when she sings in her chest voice, it sounds great actually! Listen to ''10th Man Down'' and ''A Return To The Sea''.
I only hate when she sings with Classical vocals, because her voice has a false, annoying sound and her vibrato is too forced/fake. She should either stick to more operatic songs (like the ones in this video), or just sing in chest voice! :)

Floor could EASILY sing any Coloratura songs, and she usually DOES sing like a dramatic soprano! Dramatic sopranos have the most powerful voices actually.
Tarja isn't a dramatic soprano, by the way. She's a FULL LYRIC soprano, with 3 octaves vocal range. She said that herself! :)

And don't forget that FLOOR always tries new techniques and her voice continues to grow. She sings better opera comparing to 2004, it is clear as a sky. And don't even compare FLOOR's god given powerful voice to any other female vocals. FLOOR ALL THE WAY!!!

I have all the DVD's of Nightwish. And I have one DivX quality of Live At Pinkpop of After Forever shot in 2004. If there would be a fire in my apartment I'd save the divx without having second thoughts :) FLOOR JANSEN is phenomenal. I have watched that concert 100 times maybe more (literally), a live performance couldn't go better than that....
