  • Yes, two kinds of good cars...

  • I WANT A SIROCCO!

  • Is the R20 going to be in Canada?

  • @zsilvermark

    yes

  • some awesome cars and engines :)

  • @2007TypeR I've never driven an R32, just a 2005 GTI 1.8T, and damn I love those turbos, but i have always wanted to drive a R32, and yes, that purr from those things is incredible. One flew past me the other day on the on ramp, and it was so pure.... i do want one REALLY badly... but yes, i was just basing the comparison solely on the BHP.

  • i'm really amazed of what you people can talk. the r32 was a joke. 3.2l and only 250hp. the only good thing about it was that it had all wheel control. the most stupid thing about it was the it hadn't a turbo and therefore no aftermarket changes. now the new r20 it has a turbo, 4x4 and 2.0l. with some tunning you can go by around 310 hp with no problem and that without an aftermarket exhaust or something else.

  • @solky41 Did you ever drive the R32? That V6 engine is a thing of beauty. Power from ANY RPM in any gear. No turbo lag... just pure power. It sounded like heaven as well. In comparison the 2.0t engine is lifeless, no soul, lots of lag and generally not very nice..

It's not all about big power... it's about driving.

  • @2007TypeR You obviously havnt driven either of them in high altitude. The 2.0T (because of the turbo) is faster at a high altitude. The 3.2 is less fun up here.

Also the 2.0T lifeless? I dont think so.

  • The 2.0T is a great engine but in comparison to a NA engine it is lifeless. It has no character... the turbo kicks in and it's just like WHOOSH, it pulls hard and then you change... and then the same boring sound of the airbox. I've driven many miles with the 2.0T, Golf, S3, Scirocco etc.. It's all the same. Boring and lifeless. Fast yes and smooth yes but boring.

I would take the R32 V6 engine over the 2.0T, even with less power.

  • For all of you bitching about the R20 not being as good as the R32, here are some facts for you: the R20 is going to output around 277 HP (2004 R32=240 HP, 2008 R32=250 HP), and a 0-60 MPH in the low to mid 5's (2004 R32=6.1, 2008 R32=6.5), and it will still have the same 4Motion AWD system. So now that you know how much better the R20 will be, I hope you will look forward to its arrival as much as I am.

  • Its all opinion when it comes to that i guess, but the 2.0t has no turbo lag. I own an 07 GTI and it has taken down many vr6 volkswagens. all it took was a small reprogramming =D. Now this new r20 will need no programming to get the potential power. The only thing good about the old r32 was the awd, and even then, it was not suited for that chassis.

  • R26 OR R26.R NOT R32 OR R20!

  • I prefer the VW Golf R32 instead of the VW Golf R20. I bought the 2009 GTI, he´s arriving soon from Germany dealer. 210hp to give me a daily nice emotion of aceleration, altough i think it is possible to reach R20 specifications (hp etc), but not R32 (my choice)

  • There's a lot more that goes into the performance of a car aside from HP output.

  • One of the things is the point of gravity, the lower the car the better. The golf is not as low as for example the bmw 3 series . And the bmw back traction allows more fun if you are a good driver. VW golf s a women´s car in my opinion, thats why my car is bmw coupe 3 series and changing to a golf is not motivefor a great party.

  • Im Totally agree with you! they removed the True R32 to replace it with another 4cil. turbo fsi piece of...

  • @Rswpotenza yup... what a sad day. All manufacturers are going with 2.0t engines.... why? they are boring,, they sound shit, they drive shit. disgusting.

  • @2007TypeR I'm sure it has a lot to do with the current state of the global economy and the need to go smaller/lighter & be more fuel efficient. I suppose it's more cost-efficient for the manufacturers since they can get the same power or more from a smaller block. I'm a current R32 owner though, so I'm biased when I say VR6 all the way! ;D

  • You can easily pass by R32 specifications with R20 set up and a fisrt stage you can reach 400Ps (revo, giac). In a R32 you must turn it to turbo to reach this Ps or biturbo to reach till 600Ps....But then look at the cost too....2.0lt lighter than 3.2 with great torque and tunable...

  • Arguments are getting dificult...the best GT cars all have big engines( Ferrari, AstonMartin, etc) and the more agiles are the ligthiest ones (Porsche turbo aerokit). My GTI is neither of thouse. It´s too heavy.Lets see the new Honda rival this year...and bmw 3 series its more a guys car.

  • @1971ratrace The problem is all these new cars are getting very expensive. £30k is too much for a "hot hatch"... instead these cars are just becoming over expensive and boring.

  • the commercial makes no sence but the cars are sick!!!!

  • good thing i work at vw^^ i get to drive all those cars lol

  • instant get both. good job vw!

  • those cars look so amazing i cant wait to get the r20.

  • R20 is sick!!

  • how camp is that video lol. Cars look nice though

  • I got a feeling that Scirocco R is going to be a hot new hatch!

  • it is hot
