Our senses does not fit 100% too reality, far away. If you look at most animals, we know they have a different veiw of the world. Some sees in black and white, some sees in green. Dogs can smell upon many kilometers while humans range is only some meters. Eagles can see movement upon thousand of meters. All of us, including humans experience the world different. Why would just humans have the "right" vision of the world? It's not like humans are perfect creatures, and that we are sure of.
I tried talking to my sound engineering teacher a few years back about this sort of stuff but he just mocked me for being so "philosophical". It's the same with light, photons vibrating at particular frequencies which our brain perceives as a certain colour. There are 'colours' we can't see because our brain isn't designed to decipher the code. We can make machines that convert these and interpret them in a way we can use, but as you said, we have access to a filtered version of reality.
when air moves there is a sound, that in fact'' IS'' sound by friction,I try to watch youre vide but i have to stop when ever i hear something that i have proven to myself.sound is what you are and you are equal to it all?
when our ear and mind manifest it?that in essence would make this reality a matrix that requires youre participation .which in fact is true but you are not the only one participating there are 6 billion other machines that we know as human beings plus the animal kingdom and nature and the planet itself...not common sense,, but countinue with your exploration.see you soon.
You don't get it. Watch the videos "What is sound" parts one and two on my CraigTube channel. It's not a matrix, the components for sound are there, it's not a sound until perceived by an observer. That doesn't mean the physics aren't there.
no couse you can never prove this , will simply never be there to confirm your opinion''to not hear.examleto'' you did'nt live until i saw this vidoe''sound is what everything is and we are the manifestetion of this planet.
Sound is the vibration of an elastic medium AS PERCEIVED BY AN OBSERVER. It is a sensation that is caused by vibration. Without the observer, there is only vibration. Did you watch part 1 and 2 on my CraigTube channel? Watch those before commenting further. You still don't get it.
you just contradisted yourself.because the universe is real.therefore if the tree falls in the forest there will be sound regardless of human or animal presence the planet is in awerness.other wise wee would be in a matrix.
if a recording device will pick up the sound of a tree falling, that means that the "sound" actually occurred. i don't believe you can dispute that with your lsd infused ideas. with every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. it's the conservation of energy my friend. i'm sure a squirrel or a deer heard that tree fall and probably shat themselves...
Well MrFancyPants, you fail to understand the definition of sound. It has to be "heard" before it is sound. Electromagnetism has to be *seen* before it is light. It is our *perception* of the presents of moving air pressure that is sound. No lsd here buddy, just logic. DISPUTED! If a deer heard it, it was sound TO THE DEER, not to a near by leaf that vibrated from the movement of air caused by the tree falling. Your old school thoughts are tiring me.
Ha. Tou-che, Craig. I was just trying to get a rise out of you. Keep posting vids, i really do enjoy them. I'm a big fan of the home brew videos. You've got to admit that last sentence of mine about the squirrel or deer shatting themselves was kind of funny.
@CraigTube Speaking of Home Brew... I've been using city water and I think it's been affecting the flavor of the beer. I've done several clone kits and they really don't taste like the original i.e. sierra nevada, fat tire, honey weiss. Do you think there's too much chlorine in the water? I also have softened water.
I think if the water doesn't have any flavor of it's own, then it can't impart any flavors in your beer. Beyond that, I'm not sure. Home brew never tastes like store bought.
very interesting Craig, and I must say, I agree with you... what IS sound anyway? It is what a brain (be it human or anything else) translates the air vibrations into - so if a tree falls, and there is NOTHING there to translate the impact/air vibrations INTO sound... then the sound does not exist... gonna watch the next vid now lol.
Ya I got to go with TheSpectralReview on this one. If a dog can here a sound that we can't there still is sound we just can't here it. We also have devices that can measure things that out senses can't detect. like inferred and ultra violet waves. Even though we can't see inferred we know it's still there. One could say that sense snakes can see inferred and humans can't that means that inferred is only there to snakes, sense humans can't see it.
All sound is is vibration of air. Does that mean that whenever air moves, there's sound? Air is always moving, so that means that there's always sound? Sound is a combination of moving air, and our interpretation of it. You need both to have sound. No interpretation, no sound. If the dog hears it, then there's sound -- for the dog. The combination of the air moving, and the dog's interpretation of that, creates the sensation we call "sound". If either one of these is missing, there is no sound.
Light is electromagnetism combined with our sense of sight. Only a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum is visible to us. It doesn't matter if there's a snake out there that can see other ranges. They exist, but without being able to combine these waves with our sense of sight, there is no "light" You can't see radio waves. They are the same energy as light, but we can't see them, so they are not light. It's only light to the observer, when the observer can see it, no matter who else can.
The only problem is that sound is not just what we as humans can here. It's what can be heard period. Weather that be a dog or a horse or human. If something can detect it than it's sound. It may not be sound that humans can hear but it's there. Now I would say that if there is air pressure that no creature or device can pick up than you can make the case that there is no sound. I guess it depends on how you look at this. As long as it's Oddable by something than it's sound. that is my stanse
You are alone in a TOTALLY quiet room. Apart from your own bodily functions, when asked, would you say there's sound? You can't hear any, so the answer would be NO. Now you're told that there was a dog hiding behind a partition during your questioning. If asked the same question, what would the dog say? If the dog heard something you didn't, he would say YES. Does that mean that you were wrong? more in next post...
Next day, same experiment, but this time you don't know whether they put the dog in there or not. Totally silent room. Do you hear anything, NO. Is there a sound? Umm, that depends on whether that dog is in here. Sound is an individual experience that needs interpretation before it becomes sound. To a deaf person, there is no sound no matter what air pressure changes are happening around him. To him, there's no sound.
Sound doesn't exist outside of our perception of it. If you have a radio playing in an empty house, you can't say that there's sound. It's all just vibration of air. When someone comes home and HEARS the air moving, then it becomes sound TO THEM. If we were not aware of dogs, we would say that dog whistles make no sound. If all of a sudden we became aware of dogs, does that mean we would have to change our mind about the dog whistle.
Finally, fly can hear down to about 2 hertz. That could be generated by the drapes moving with the breeze. Close your eyes and tell me if you hear the drapes moving. NO. Is there sound coming from them? NO. Now ask the fly if there's sound? YES. What would your answer be now? YES? If so, then we have a real problem because that means that if one molecule of air moves, and a bacteria detects it, there's sound. That would mean that there's never NO sound.
Sound is defined only by one's interpretation of moving air. Outside of a living body that can detect this, there is ONLY moving air, but no sound. Sound happens when that moving air is perceived by our body and interpreted to create a sensation we call sound. No interpretation, no sound. Just moving air. This is a great blog topic. Thanks.
Sound is really defined by what we can hear. By definition you need to hear a sound, if you can't hear it, its not a sound. One person's sound might be another person's inaudible air movement.
Animals perceive sound in a higher frequency and at a more sensitive level then humans.....so if you wave your hand like you did in the video I know an animal will hear that and we won't so, it IS sound. =D
It is sound to them, not to us. Sound is the auditory perception of the movement of air, not the movement of air itself. If it is not perceived, it is not sound. If perceived by one animal, and not another, then it is only sound to the animal that perceived it, but not to the other. Movement of air is not sound. "Perception" of movement of air through "hearing" is sound. Again, sound is our sensory interpretation of movement of air. the movement of air without perception is not sound.
you are a fucking genius
