  • Just one of those songs.....I love Doc Watson & Mississippi John hurt Great job for a chick!

  • Man, she's beautiful.

How does a Kali surfer girl from Santa Cruz ever become this?

  • nice to see people giving their own voice to the song. prob one of my favorite songs.

  • i've heard this old blues song done by, many, many artists, but these two are just perfect.

  • Two gigantic talents. I can't stop listening. Thanks for posting such great sound too. They sold me two albums on E-music already, so keep it up. Fantastic albums!

  • david rawlings is the boss!

  • Gillian I love you. You can sleep round mine whenever and wherever you like. I'll make us a nice fry up in the morning too. (David, I like you mate, but I think you'll be happier in an hotel).

  • These two probably came out of the womb singing harmony with each other.

  • This is some of the best lead guitar playing I've ever heard in this type of music.

  • Oh yeah......brilliant rendition of a great song by a pair of great artists!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • This may be the best version of this song I have heard, outside of Jackson, Mississippi at a bar called Hal and Mals. My only critique would be that the traditional name of the song is "Ain't No Telling". A small quibble on a great song performed by a wonderful lady!

  • Wow. Gorgeous music.

  • @wartree -- yup, his is the standard bearer for me ...

  • simply magnificent

  • The Original Bogtrotters on the Biograph Label recorded this a long time ago. The best version of this is done by Joan Crane, tremendous fingerstylist.

  • Yeah, for everyone's info, this is an unaccredited traditional song - Mississippi John Hurt and Doc Watson are among the versions i know, but it is an old'n

  • they are so makin' love in the best way....love them both....make me down a pallet on your floor...make me pallet soft and low...babe I'm broke and I've got not were to go..................

  • I accidentially, found this beautiful song bird. Like looking out your window and seeing a pair of red birds. What a gift. Makes things feel alright....Thanks

  • Great, I love this song! Thanks, beautiful rendition. Isn't the original by Stephan Foster?

  • If i'm correct it's a mississippi john hurt song

  • I checked the album for credits and it just says:

Traditional arranged with additional lyrics by Gillian Welch.

  • Lovely thanks Jools

  • Ottimo! d.

  • It's always so rewarding to come to your Window and listen and watch such performers like Gillian. If not for YT friends, i'd never have opportunity to make encounters with great musicians unknown here in Poland. Txs so much Jools. i'll be coming for more,,,always.
