I know how, well not architecturally how but an idea of something simple that could easily allow you to move faster than the speed of light by huge amounts and at the same time it could be used as a time machine!!! Not enough characters to explain here but ill give a ruff description on how it would work.
Step 1) Imagine a circle. Step 2) Imagine the center point of this circle was a sphere and a pole extended a million miles out.
Step 3) Imagine the pole turned with the sphere but the sphere is only say 1ft in diameter. Step 4) Imagine it only took 1second for the sphere to turn once, this would mean the outer most part of the pole would have traveled well take 1million miles and times it buy 3.14 that is 3.14million miles it would travel in just 1second. Light only travels 186,282miles per second. So this machine would allow you to travel 5.36 times faster than the speed of light!! Think about it!
Fascinating!!! My thought would be that one would have to leave an object or a particle in the past in order for you to retrieve it!!! We would need to allow for the past to be revisited!!.
traveling back to the past as far as what mallett is doing will only take him as far as to the point when he turned on the time machine for the first time. he cant go further than that.....research it
"Later, Mallett abandoned the idea of using slowed light to reduce the energy, writing that, "For a time, I considered the possibility that slowing down light might increase the gravitational frame dragging effect of the ring laser ... Slow light, however, turned out not to be helpful for my research."
If he went back to the past and saved his father, he would not have been able to make the decision to make a time machine because his decision to make a time machine was because of his father dying. So if his father did not die early, the time machine would not be invented, and he will cease to exist.

i was aware of the channels of universes... but what can you imagine a world with that technology... oh my gosh, yours is the world...you and your evil soul!!!
for instance, i wnt to time travel...time travel not for a thousand or hundred of years, but for only one hour!
does it mean that i can meet myself, then we can be clones then two of us will also time travel for one hour again and meet my previous two body, then four will also time travel again and again to infinity...
then it means that in just a day, ican fill the entire world!!!
Anyone who argues that going back in time would create a parallel universe then has to embrace the fact that this means an infinite number of universes exist all of which differ the tiniest amount. There can be subsequently only be one conscious universe or and exponentially large number of them.
where's the blueprint? I hear theory only here. Anyone know what happened with those time travel experiments in the Geneva tunnel? Time travel into the past should be the ultimate undertaking of science. I don't want to go into the future. If we think about it, the tragedy of human life, is the inability to go back and do things differently.
1) Although space and time are connected, technically what Mallet is proposing is a partial-teleportation device. Time has completely different properties than space has, and while this explanation may be applicable to space, it is not applicable to time.
2) If people really want to travel through time, all they need to do is catch a Diagla in Pokemon Diamond and have it use Roar of Time.
(Did my Pokemon reference ruin my scientific credibility?)
I agree with nativejit , and I believe that it is actually quite selfish. It had always been said and according to time travel changing the past will change the future. Now consider this what if he saved his father and at age 35 his father murdered somebody, how would this affect him, would he care?
Maybe he should focus on travel thru space to far galaxys insted of travel to past and save life of his father.... Maybe time travel is only way(or can help us) to travel to deep space. The speed of light is too "slow" and takes millions of years to travel to the nearest galaxy.
all this intrugues me. just saw the documentary "breaking time". the grandfather paradox is fascinating, but if parralel universes do exist it might be possible to create a different history in a different universe while the "original" universe still exists. too bad it's all just theory :/
In every way shape and form, something as purely theoretical and big as time travel should be studied and looked at, but never ever put into action due to how little we know about it. Playing with a couple particles could end up with a destroyed lab, but playing with time could end up with a destroyed everything. I mean just existing in the past by going back is adding matter to the universe that wasn't originally there and backfiring the effect of a continuous light loup.
But he cant go back earlier than the time he turned on the machine. Like he had said, he turns it on now, and 20 years passed, he will be able to go back in time starting from when he turned the machine on, but not before turning the machine on.
The time machine would have to be built first, and the method for detecting information send back in time would have to be developed.. otherwise no one would ever look for the info sent back in time.. or even know what to look for..
it'd be so bad ass if he's able to make this happen. I think the backwards loop would have to deal with parallel universes. paradox's are too strong to overcome
in the universe you can't say impossible... there are always possible things will happened in a space and matter which is the universe....i challenge albert einstein idea that he said, that no such thing that will surpass a light speed..but i think a one idea on how to surpass light speed in fact we are already discovered and used it now adays.
..if you going to surpass light speed 10 times its speed you can now solve on how to see the past. e mail me sir..jobry25@yahoo.com i will give you idea
One day in t 1990s, I found an 8mm film roll my father had shot...but never was able to show. Whil squinting at t film frames 2 try 2 see who was N them, I suddnly felt as if I was me, from the 1960s, visiting me n the 1990s! (Had u asked me who was President, I wud hav sed, John F. Kennedy. Price of gas? 35 c a gallon, etc.) Part f me KNU I was havg an experience-- but part f me didn't. it lasted about 15 minutes. Cud this b a clu to time travel? Is CONCENTRATING a key? Lik viewing photos????
no one is going to come to our present from the future since top ranks and secre private groups will get a hold on this and never reveal it to the public like they always do unless you copy or steal the blue print of it and make a second time machine in secrecy ...
I also had the idea of moving space to relativistic velocities but I saw how rotation wouldn't produce a uniform effect, an angular vector means the outer area moves faster than the inner area nearer the axis, so a machine for human-sized objects would need a very large rotating field to avoid sending different parts of the object to different times. My solution is to use linear vectors and I recently posted my "Space Oscillating Time Machine" video to explain the concept.
Simple stuff, but does Mallett factor in branes, can he constitute that maybe dark energy ,dark matter is matter from alternate dimensions overlapped into are universe, can he conclude that the fourth dimension is constant in all dimensions.
has he calculated the dilation from time travel (supposing that two observers are in motion relative to each other and situated nearby gravitational masses if he sends subatomic particles close to a multidimensional object the results could be dreadful.
if you can create a minature black hole, stabalize it and control it to an extent, you could harness the energy from it to travel through time. so you can go to the required dimension to travel through time. hope that helps. :)
uhhh mister ronald sirr dudde,, i hate to burst your bubble, but your machine is not a time machine. time travel requires a massive energy source that can manipulate time and space, and the only thing in the universe that can do that as far as humans know, is a black hole.
What scientists dont get is, the past is already gone, that's why its called the " past " it's history, the future doesnt exist yet, all that exists is the present
hmm many past saints like padre pio were reported to be able to be in 2 places at the same time maybe negitive emotions and material connections to this world keep us on a low emotial vibration if so we have to ask who is helping to keep us from getting to the next level ?
if he were to go back and save his dad he would mess up the time line and space time contenuim and he wouldnt build the time machine in the first place or never be interested in physics and change his whole life
@nativejit : that's right.. :) He would have to tell his younger self.. that he had to stay focused on reasearching and creating a time machine.. so his father would not die.. He could even give his younger self tips on how to make it.. That might stop the paradox
or the current time machine could be introduced back then and when time reaches current day the time machine could be very advanced from the original... just a thought
@nativejit Thats only if the paradox actually exists, say that the grandfather paradox doesnt actually exist, then any action he takes in the past will only create 1 alternate reality where that action may change the future but as for the future that has already happend, will remain unchanged...ever c the movie the one???
@nativejit well that is a good theory but there is another theory that states that there are infinite amounts of perallel universes so if he goes back in one universe in another he saves his father and still creates the time machine
also your theory is incorrect because he were to go back and save his father and not get into physics then how does he go back to the past in his life?
@nativejit This is the "grandfather paradox" -- go in T.M. kil ur grandfather....u'll never be born. ANSWER: Parallel Universes, each decision going to another vista. Confusing to me, too....but it's a theory I've heard. I THINK DR. MALLET WUD B INTERESTED N TIME MACHINES, NIWAY, BECAUSE HE LOVED HIS DAD, & WOULD WANT TO GET HIM BACK, NO MATTER WHEN HIS DAD DIED!
@mdbauman That's right! I find it kinda anoying when people use it as an argument, even when you go back in time you change the past, your atoms didn't interfere with the atoms in that time. Maybe an ant walk up on your foot as you are in the past, it didn't in the "original" timeline, that would change the past, just by the fact it is possible to go back in time shows that there is Parallel Universes.
@thetraceur123 your thinking to small my friend :) (but at least good, I'll give you you credit)
What if, time is a one way current...meaning everything exists now and only now....so when you go back in time, the now is rewritten but only when it happens? (so a constant state of now, implying no real future exists only what has happened and what is happening)
I personally believe in parallel universes, but i don't like to count other ideas out :P
Exactally! Therefore how could he go back and save good old dad? Paradox! That's the same reason he won't send sub atomic particles back in time. There is no record of them being there already...However, if he were to send them into the future ...
@nativejit No, if he went back and saved his dad, he would carry out his life as he wants from that point on (of course killing his other self, and dying earlier than he would have) still changing the outcome of everything of course.
What if this guy does figure out how to travel back in time and travels back to see his father, reveals to him that he is his son which causes his fathers heart attack...
@embryo23 he wouldn't be able to because the farthest that he can go back is when he turns on the time machine, but then again, i don't have a PHD in physics or anything in that matter.
@embryo23 .. so then he realizes.. HE caused his father's heart attack! classic time travel movie ending! :) time travel paradoxes are crazy... mind boggling sometimes...
Time travel to the past is impossible. That would mean you could have negative time and that's impossible. Time and space are one thing, they are intertwined and inseparable. Since you can't have negative length, you can't have negative time.
Yes, I could walk a distance, turn around and walk back, but I did not walk a negative distance. It's the same distance but in the other direction. AND it took me time to do it, time to get there and time to get back. No negative time.
part 2: Let's say I kicked a rock on my walk somewhere and hurt my toe. On my way back, I can't un-kick the rock and make my toe better, even if I walked backward the whole way. You can't go backward in time. We exist in the now. There is no future time, as it hasn't occurred yet.
Although it is still theory, you need to understand what he is attempting to achieve, using lasers he is bending the fabric of space time from one 3 dimension to another, effectively jumping not travelling into negative time. 4th dimensionality is all theory at this point. what is more interesting is if it did work, what would happen from the minute it is turned on?
@Denusch Oh, I understand what he's attempting to do. I just don't believe it's possible. His obsession with time travel will ultimately prove a failure.
His example of time (past, present, future) appears to be already set in stone, like it's going to happen anyway, no free will.
However, the future hasn't happened yet, so there is one thing that's wrong with his theory.
You can't bend time to go back to a previous instance.
He has some interesting ideas, and they sound plausible.
@Denusch Let us assume, for a moment, that he is right. He turns on the time machine. What would happen? He'd appear from the future. Of course, he'd have to prove that the machine works. The only true way to prove it would be to send himself back to the time it was turned on. Of course, he'd use inanimate objects at first, then lower life forms. But he'd still have to go in himself and back to the time just after it was powered up.
@UnderManiac that is a very good point, however, if that line is drawn on a piece of paper lets say.....and you fold that piece of paper in half ....now I dont have to walk back to the other side of the line ....I have bended space and time and have "time traveled" either way.......don't you Dr. Mallett has already thought of your theory?
@nwpamundsen You are talking about a Mobeus strip. I've played with that. There is a radio play based on that theory called "Star Bright". I've thought about the idea for about 13, or so, years.
Think of this. You travel over the strip and eventually get to the PLACE you started. However, it took time to get there. You didn't arrive at the same TIME you left. If that was the case, you'd see yourself leave as you were just arriving after your trip. Time can only move forward.
@nwpamundsen Einstein has said that you can only move forward in time. Nowhere in any of his theories and journals does he mention the idea of traveling backward in time, or folding space so one can drop back to a time where they started.
I fantasize about time travel to the past as well, to change my choices and make a better future. However, I stick with reality, knowing that that type of time travel is impossible.
@nachomancool true he says in the other video he could only travel to when he first turned the machine on. Had I completed such a remarkable dimension altering occurrence I would certainly cry uncontrollably and or faint multiple times upon looking @ myself.
You can do this! My brother taped loads of flashlights to the inside of a drainpipe and put his hamster back 3 days. My mom found that hamster 3 days before that - we thought it was a neighbors hamster that had escaped! We're now posting back a video of something to prove it... Wild!
@pablo8879 wow, i did not think like that. If time travel is possible, so we can change every thing in our past lives? rescue people , kill people. In general if it is right and a bad a man own it, he would change all the world and history, so by that point we do not need God
Simple. If time travel is possible, We could only go back in time to the point at which the machine turns on for the first time. It's like sending sending an email. You cant send an email to someone who doesnt have a computer. That is impossible.
@CactusBoyErk You are assuming that time travel to the past would be possible.
This guy is talking of a space-time version of a mobeus strip. However, it takes time to travel that strip, time moves forward, not backward along the journey.
@pablo8879 Well not that I believe it but...It cant happen untill the first tiem machine is invented. The future poeple have nothing to come back to...Thats the thoery :)
@pablo8879 if any of this shit was real, then if somebody came from the past to tell us, they would completely fuck up the past and things wouldn't exist
@pablo8879 Because it won't be possible in the future, it will be possible now. And as long as it will happen, it has happened. and since the past brings outcome to the present, and the world will always see the result of that outcome, it will always be happening forever. and since it will be happening forever starting tomorrow, we will never see it today, therefore we will never experience time travel because we experienced it.
Fucking retarded from the get-go. I used to love this video and think this was my way into the future, but now, it means nothing after what I learned.
After he "introduces" the paperclip into the "world of the two-demensional" paper, it doesn't vanish, at all like he says, it creates a hole.
The world has accomplished meny wonders and the reson those of you that do not believe we can actually travel thru time its because past accomplishments
It's always now, so how do you propose to get to where you already are? Time travel is hilarious. But here I'll help you all get to where you all are going. I want you to think of where you were yesterday for lunch. Think about what you ate, how it tasted and how it smelled. Okay, here we go.. You just time traveled. That's all that will ever happen because as you're daydreaming, it is, or was actually, now. You can never step into the same river twice.
Time/Space is all at once. There's no going back to your old self. You can't go to the past, it just isn't possible.
You can go into a different dimension (maybe, lets just say), and visit you as a kid. As you grow older though, things affect you. Essentially, in theory, there would be a person with your same DNA in a different dimension, but they would be a completely different person. Growing up changes a person and their personality completely.
I have no idea what a "beaner" is but I assume that, as you're an American, it must be some lame racist comment (as most Americans are backward in this regard). Oh and make me, Dumbass.
If time is indeed a physical dimension then theoretically stretching/cutting time in one area would displace time in another, which could lead to huge problems. This is even demonstrated in his paper example - when he pulls out the object the object may very well disappear, but it leaves a big hole where it was.
NathanCoalbine is right, xadam2dudex did not use sarcasm at all, he purposely misinterpreted the sentence in an attempt to be clever and witty. Still didn't work though hahahahaha.
"Sorry to hear you have a problem with drugs - good luck with that." In defense of Adam Dude, that comment is clearly and unambiguously meant sarcastically. And Nathan and Sand's complete and utter inability to see it leads me to conclude that they must be American (Americans are renowned for their inability to understand irony). QED
@gyruuryg lol fucking hillybilly go back to your ghost costume aka "kkk" also dont forget to put on your dildo hat while I rape your wife oh thats right you dont have a wife!
He can't save his dad with even if it does work because he would go back save him and then the younger one would have never had needed to build one. So the old one would stop exsisting or some amount of time later he would die and it would repeat
About the tourists from the future. How do you know none of them are from the future. And for the people who ask but why don't we ever find markings or objects from then. It is probably because the future gets messed up by it so they come back and fix it so that we never know.
First he said the object put into the furture/past will only be able to appear in the time machine during the time travelled to and now he's saying objects travelling to the future/past can appear anywhere.
dont do it. who knows what could possibly go wrong. cause a rip in space and time if time even really exists. or like that movie paycheck where they see in the future so they make decisions that actually caused the problems they saw. just like the old killing your grandfather theory. impossible or you would never existed to begin with to travel back and do it.
Is it not a fair observation to point out that if indeed a time machine is developed in the future, then we probably would know about it now because the time traveller would have travelled back to the past (now) to tell us about it?
Whether it works or not is a question that's hard to ask, we simply don't know.
His idea in theory, works, unless we a lot wrong about the universe we think we know, it will work.
What's inconcievable, is what will happen, what could happen, and what would happen when we twist space time.
The idea is unnautal to our mind's, it's impossible to really comrephend, because we were never desighed to time-travel. it's like us, seeing in 5 dimensions, it's inconceivable

Maybe he should focus on travel thru space to far galaxys insted of travel to past and save life of his father.... Maybe time travel is only way(or can help us) to travel to deep space. The speed of light is too "slow" and takes millions of years to travel to the nearest galaxy.

all this intrugues me. just saw the documentary "breaking time". the grandfather paradox is fascinating, but if parralel universes do exist it might be possible to create a different history in a different universe while the "original" universe still exists. too bad it's all just theory :/

xasia1000 1 year ago
In every way shape and form, something as purely theoretical and big as time travel should be studied and looked at, but never ever put into action due to how little we know about it. Playing with a couple particles could end up with a destroyed lab, but playing with time could end up with a destroyed everything. I mean just existing in the past by going back is adding matter to the universe that wasn't originally there and backfiring the effect of a continuous light loup.
Ichvyenichalster 1 year ago
But he cant go back earlier than the time he turned on the machine. Like he had said, he turns it on now, and 20 years passed, he will be able to go back in time starting from when he turned the machine on, but not before turning the machine on.
random6453 1 year ago
The time machine would have to be built first, and the method for detecting information send back in time would have to be developed.. otherwise no one would ever look for the info sent back in time.. or even know what to look for..

HeavyKnuckelz 1 year ago
if you can create a minature black hole, stabalize it and control it to an extent, you could harness the energy from it to travel through time. so you can go to the required dimension to travel through time. hope that helps. :)
Hailey5210 1 year ago
uhhh mister ronald sirr dudde,, i hate to burst your bubble, but your machine is not a time machine. time travel requires a massive energy source that can manipulate time and space, and the only thing in the universe that can do that as far as humans know, is a black hole.

@nativejit : that's right.. :) He would have to tell his younger self.. that he had to stay focused on reasearching and creating a time machine.. so his father would not die.. He could even give his younger self tips on how to make it.. That might stop the paradox

tfme 1 year ago
@nativejit Thats only if the paradox actually exists, say that the grandfather paradox doesnt actually exist, then any action he takes in the past will only create 1 alternate reality where that action may change the future but as for the future that has already happend, will remain unchanged...ever c the movie the one???
KainRussian 1 year ago
@nativejit well that is a good theory but there is another theory that states that there are infinite amounts of perallel universes so if he goes back in one universe in another he saves his father and still creates the time machine
also your theory is incorrect because he were to go back and save his father and not get into physics then how does he go back to the past in his life?
PUDOPARTY 1 year ago
@nativejit This is the "grandfather paradox" -- go in T.M. kil ur grandfather....u'll never be born. ANSWER: Parallel Universes, each decision going to another vista. Confusing to me, too....but it's a theory I've heard. I THINK DR. MALLET WUD B INTERESTED N TIME MACHINES, NIWAY, BECAUSE HE LOVED HIS DAD, & WOULD WANT TO GET HIM BACK, NO MATTER WHEN HIS DAD DIED!
UTAOUB 1 year ago
@nativejit Naw, he would just create a parallel universe in which he wouldn't build the time machine in the first place.
mdbauman 1 year ago
@mdbauman That's right! I find it kinda anoying when people use it as an argument, even when you go back in time you change the past, your atoms didn't interfere with the atoms in that time. Maybe an ant walk up on your foot as you are in the past, it didn't in the "original" timeline, that would change the past, just by the fact it is possible to go back in time shows that there is Parallel Universes.
thetraceur123 1 year ago
@thetraceur123 your thinking to small my friend :) (but at least good, I'll give you you credit)
What if, time is a one way current...meaning everything exists now and only now....so when you go back in time, the now is rewritten but only when it happens? (so a constant state of now, implying no real future exists only what has happened and what is happening)
I personally believe in parallel universes, but i don't like to count other ideas out :P

UnderManiac 1 year ago
part 2: Let's say I kicked a rock on my walk somewhere and hurt my toe. On my way back, I can't un-kick the rock and make my toe better, even if I walked backward the whole way. You can't go backward in time. We exist in the now. There is no future time, as it hasn't occurred yet.
UnderManiac 1 year ago
Although it is still theory, you need to understand what he is attempting to achieve, using lasers he is bending the fabric of space time from one 3 dimension to another, effectively jumping not travelling into negative time. 4th dimensionality is all theory at this point. what is more interesting is if it did work, what would happen from the minute it is turned on?
Denusch 1 year ago
@Denusch Oh, I understand what he's attempting to do. I just don't believe it's possible. His obsession with time travel will ultimately prove a failure.
His example of time (past, present, future) appears to be already set in stone, like it's going to happen anyway, no free will.
However, the future hasn't happened yet, so there is one thing that's wrong with his theory.
You can't bend time to go back to a previous instance.
He has some interesting ideas, and they sound plausible.
UnderManiac 1 year ago
@Denusch Let us assume, for a moment, that he is right. He turns on the time machine. What would happen? He'd appear from the future. Of course, he'd have to prove that the machine works. The only true way to prove it would be to send himself back to the time it was turned on. Of course, he'd use inanimate objects at first, then lower life forms. But he'd still have to go in himself and back to the time just after it was powered up.
I've thought about both sides of the argument.
UnderManiac 1 year ago
@UnderManiac that is a very good point, however, if that line is drawn on a piece of paper lets say.....and you fold that piece of paper in half ....now I dont have to walk back to the other side of the line ....I have bended space and time and have "time traveled" either way.......don't you Dr. Mallett has already thought of your theory?
nwpamundsen 1 year ago
@nwpamundsen You are talking about a Mobeus strip. I've played with that. There is a radio play based on that theory called "Star Bright". I've thought about the idea for about 13, or so, years.
Think of this. You travel over the strip and eventually get to the PLACE you started. However, it took time to get there. You didn't arrive at the same TIME you left. If that was the case, you'd see yourself leave as you were just arriving after your trip. Time can only move forward.
UnderManiac 1 year ago
@nwpamundsen Einstein has said that you can only move forward in time. Nowhere in any of his theories and journals does he mention the idea of traveling backward in time, or folding space so one can drop back to a time where they started.
I fantasize about time travel to the past as well, to change my choices and make a better future. However, I stick with reality, knowing that that type of time travel is impossible.
UnderManiac 1 year ago
if he did come back to the future to save his dad, the idea of building a time machine to do that would have never happened.

@nachomancool true he says in the other video he could only travel to when he first turned the machine on. Had I completed such a remarkable dimension altering occurrence I would certainly cry uncontrollably and or faint multiple times upon looking @ myself.
Shaboogie101 1 year ago
@nachomancool That's called a paradox. However, since time travel to a previous time is impossible, there would be no need for paradoxes.
I believe that his experiments will continue to fail and his desire to go back into the past will prove futile.
One thing that should come out of all this, is that he'll prove time travel to the past is impossible.
Yet, other people will attempt it, saying that he didn't do it right.
UnderManiac 1 year ago
You can do this! My brother taped loads of flashlights to the inside of a drainpipe and put his hamster back 3 days. My mom found that hamster 3 days before that - we thought it was a neighbors hamster that had escaped! We're now posting back a video of something to prove it... Wild!

CactusBoyErk 1 year ago
@CactusBoyErk You are assuming that time travel to the past would be possible.

If time is indeed a physical dimension then theoretically stretching/cutting time in one area would displace time in another, which could lead to huge problems. his idea makes perfect sense.
