The 1st song in the movie is an alternative version for the "Rap das Armas" (Gun's Rap), by Mcs Cidinho and Doca. The original version couldn't be played in this movie because it was prohibited by the Brazilian Justice

Some people have posted the entire movie (in segments of 10 min.) here on youtube... but the subtitles are in pigeon English. I wrote subtitles for almost the entire movie, but when I merged them, they were not synchronized and I gave up. Anyway, you can buy the movie, which comes with subtitles... but again, the official subtitles are not as explicitly as what is being said in Portuguese...

If you want the official version you can get it from Netflix or even Blockbuster, or you can buy it on Amazon. It's available with subtitles or dubbed. The subtitles lose some of the meaning in translation, the dubbed version is horrible (usually both available as options on the DVD).

LOVED THIS MOVIE!

I must admit that the subs are really simplified but also the Portuguese in this has a lot of Slag and it's very explicit and a lot of what they say is sort of unable to be translated. I watched it all in Portuguese the first time (I am a student Learning Portuguese in Brasil currently) and it really made a impact that the simplified subs can lessen the impact but still all in all an AMAZING movie...Better than anything I've seen in Canada.

It is somewhat different...there are actually several "leaked versions" of this movie (when I was in Brazil, they were selling about 5 different "leaked versions" of the movie). I think that some of them are better than the final cut. And as I mention bellow, the official subtitles are not that great (what I forgot to mention bellow is that they also "filtered" the language, so the subtitles are not very explicit).

Yes, this movie is really good... not only because of the violent content that every good American appreciates, but also because it exploits and portraits the corruption of the Brazilian society at many levels and institutions. The acting is also excellent (that is, if you understand Portuguese). Apparently, the actors had the script but no lines. They just shot the scenes several times and the actors improvised... they repeated until the scene felt natural and right.

The movie is out... I just watched it with the official subtitles. They did a terrible job: they over-simplified and cut off many lines. I think that will really decrease the impact of this movie on English speakers. I wrote some great subtitles for the whole movie, but I just gave up the whole thing (my videos kept getting corrupted and the subtitles kept getting out of sync)... anyway, just letting you know.
