Why is he pretending to do stuff on his gameboy, if hes playing from that gameboy cartridge all you can do is speed up and slow down the tempo of the track, i've never understood why theese "producers" do this?
First of all, it's music sequenced by him in the first place, onto the cartridge.
Second, there is infinitely more you can do while playing it "live" than just change the tempo.
Simple things: panning, soloing, muting any track. Restructuring the song in its entirety, or channel by channel. Changing the key of the song, or any phrase. You can modify the instruments as it plays, apply or remove effects, or even add entirely new bars of music into the song as you like.
I mean you need the basic riffs programmed, but after that I do a lot of sequencing completely on the fly, it's more difficult to do on a gameboy than computer but I'm sure he's got it down pat.
Wow, the high quality sound is way better. Also, did this crowd of young hipsters know in advance or some people just kind of popped up as he played? Would have been sweet to walk by and see/hear that. I definitely would have had to stop.
