• This guy is awesome. Seeing him on the Revival tour in Portsmouth tomorrow, can't wait

  • beautiful song

  • Does he play this song on the Revival Tour? I'd love to see it live. I'm going on Sunday :D

  • @emthedrummer he didnt play it in berlin :( was an amazing concert though

  • ich steh auf die mütze :>

  • can you get these anywhere other then youtube? and thank yu for puttin this on here!!!!!!!!! :)

  • This is so rad.

  • I was forced by my situation to make my first album with an acoustic guitar, a recording mixer, and vocals. The whole time I was like, "More like Springsteen's 'Atlantic City,' and more like The Blues, Mary!"

  • I'm speechless. This song has stirred so much emotion, I'm probably going to keep listening to it over and over.. and it will still have the same effect. Thank you for sharing this.

  • I don't know how The Gaslight Anthem, much less Brian Fallon aren't more popular then they are XP this is one of the most emotional songs that I ever heard, much more than the stuff they play on the radio XP

  • this song is just beautiful!!!

  • where can download this song

  • wouahhhh , Magnifique !

  • Well, it IS the best song ever written, after all. No joke.

  • @emthedrummer sordid

  • @caughtinacadence Yeah, I realised after how what I said could be taken pretty badly... I'll rephrase.

  • its go.ing on my ipod

  • 146 likes, NO DISLIKES. Enough said. Definitely put me down as number 147!

  • " I'd rather go than watch you leave." pure poetry.

  • @IfRainFallsIDance I have been wondering the same thing. I have been really into music for years and have been inspired through countless endeavors. Yet Brian's simple but honest lyrics have proven some of the most impressive to me. Like with many of you guys reading this, his writing "voice" resonates strongly with me.

  • Im somewhere over the rainbow for you ♥

  • This song is the most inspiring thing I've heard in a very long time

  • Mary, I really hope you realize you are one damn lucky chick to have this incredible guy sing all these songs about you.

  • @littlefurballs Mary/Maria is the name/s he uses for all the girls he's loved or met.

  • @Georgeisadinosaur Cool...they are all lucky :)

  • @Georgeisadinosaur i'm wondering if Mary is the prototype, the original, the one he maybe couldn't have or couldn't keep, and Maria is every girl after. and then I think there's a Virginia and the queen. I would love to know if all the names he uses (Matilda, Sally, Virginia, Mary, Maria) correspond to real people and what they meant to him.

  • @IfRainFallsIDance Yeah I would like know that too, a lot of singers/bands use different names for loved ones and stuff... He uses a lot Wizard of Ozreferences too.

  • @IfRainFallsIDance Actually, he never uses matilda as an actual name. the expression 'Waltzing Matilda' comes from a very famous Australian bush ballad, where the expression actually means to hike, or travel by foot, while carrying everything you own/have on your back, either with a stick and bindle or in some kind of backpack. :)

  • @wmacturk Oh shit, my bad. I totally forgot about "Film Noir" etc when i wrote that. But as far as I Coulda Been a Contender, that's what 'waltzing matilda' means :)

  • @wmacturk yep, i was just about to write about that. i knew about the song "Waltzing Matilda," but the way he plays with it "...Contender" (we'd go waltzing Matilda/when Matilda came around) always struck me as referring to a person nonetheless

  • I heard a student preform this at Mills College and she did a beautiful job. I'm hooked now.

  • 0 dislikes, right on

  • @CKLax386 how could anybody not like this? not possible haha

  • this is a treasure. this makes wandering of the main highway of music and on to the back roads worth it. its worth sifting through random bands that don't appeal to you and singers that have great lyrics but can't sing them or frustratingly short lived acts, and worth going back through the early, old, crappy work of your favorites for stuff like this. i'm in tears. amazing grace indeed, how sweet the sound, amen.

  • does anyone have tabs to play this on the piano?

  • cant stop listenin to this song love it cant wait to see them play live

  • i like how he referenced his own song, before he released it. that's a man who has a plan.

  • d/l soul seek...then....search brian fallon's album

  • first time listening to it all the way through and gae me chills unbelivable its awesome

  • move over bruce springsteen. make room for brian fallon

  • @TheYankeesking Nah.. you stand in line to the ones you respect.. Although Fallon pretty much picked up where Bruce left off.. He would even tell you the same.. If it wasnt for those who came before there wouldnt be those now.. Its respect and Brian and the rest of the band have nothing but respect for LEGENDS like Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Clash etc.. No offense but its all respect..

  • come on mary its blues man

  • i fucking love this song he is the new joe strummer.

  • @ssyoshitaco That's a HUGE statement, but I think he is well on his way, just needs to write his own white man in Hammersmith Palais and do some covers that aren't in a closely related their genre. He's got the heart though, I think. Love this song too:)

  • Its just the blues, mary the blues

  • amazing grace at the end, love it

  • He's a good looking dude

  • good song. i would like to have this song on my ipod

  • @TheYankeesking Use FireFox & install an addon to rip the audio.

  • @TheYankeesking I have this song on my ipod <3

  • @TheYankeesking Google "the blues mary mp3" and see the 2nd link!

  • I agree with Amowiel, don't ever take this track down. If there's any way you can email me the song, I would be totally appreciative.

  • Thank you thank you thank you. Is all I have to say.

    :)

  • god i love this band, i just stumbled across them and now theyre like my favorite damn band!

  • @ChurchsPinkfuzzy I think a lot of their fans just kinda stumbled on them, i certainly did.

  • @DeapPolitical I never stumbled onto them, I was lucky enough to be their since the beginnin & gladly see they progress to the status they have reached. Love em too much!

  • this is so amazing. i didnt know Brian sang like this. did he ever make an album?

  • @effinhume He had a mixed tape that he recorded when he was younger, pre TGA. I actually saw an interview where fans were filming and basically handed him an original copy of the mixed tape, and he told stories about it for a couple minutes. It was amazing.

  • beautiful song, thanks for putting this up :)

  • i cannot find the chords for this anywhere...its like it doesnt exist lol....but such a goooood song and what a voice

  • dont take this down.

cant seem to find it anywhere else.

    what a song!!!

  • @AmowielTinuviel i have a live version. great quality, from one of his acoustic shows i can send it your way if you want
