@kingofcotted They do, but the entire music business is alot smaller than it was back then. With 10 million mcs out there, it is harder for a Souls of Mischief, Black Moon or whoever to get any shine unless they are commercially viable. That is the downside to everyone able to make a album using their laptop.
man how i wish hip hop was still at this level..now a days you got these wack ass clowns puting shit out and calling hit hip hop when they know dam well there shit is all garbage!

That's the bay right there.....I was crazy proud when this came out of Oakland, CA, since most people thought that the west coast was all gangster rap.
WE NEED TO BRING THIS KIND OF HIP HOP AGAIN! if it happened once it could happen again, guys you just have to be REAL and REBEL against the system that killed hip hop in the first place. hip hop is spiritual, its life, frequency. "wanna hear a joke? im YOU" i wonder what he meant by that?? maybe that were all ONE consciousness experiencing this life for the up coming change in 2012.let's bring 90's style back, 90's flow and slang, real hip hop shit from the mind and heart ya dig?not illuminati
Ponder on this, I swallowed the spliff with elocution Encompassing the pompous means when I escalate my tool Shins get split, men get spindled swiveled pivoted By my riveting centrifuge I swindling crews, bringing a fist to bruise Pulverizing skulls annihilating trifling dunces Pulling rifle pumps to stifle punks when my knife splits Split your spleen hit you clean in the kisser When I twist a riddle I'm breakin the brittle And flimsy with my whimsy Puns and phrases I stun and phase kids

Then you just don't understand hip hop and totally missed the message so many rappers spit about. So get off it and leave cuz personally I still love real hip hop just as much or even more in spite of your effort to make me feel like an idiot for appreciating music that I would put on the same level as Beethoven and Bach whom I respect and listen to. There are plenty of underground indie hip hop artists who make money and produce albums without SELLING OUT to make a one hit wonder.
To some people it is, just because Beethoven and Bach give everyone ear erections theres gonna be someone out there who thinks they are both complete shit.
one who cant appreciate or understand the mathematics and science involved in classical music is clearly an ignoramous or simply uneducated.there is no complexity in hip hop music - at all.thats why rappers who are actual MUSICIANS always venture off to other styles of music.they get bored. And I cant even begin to start listing how many rap songs sample classical pieces!I wouldnt put stock into someone who thought Bach was shit.I guarantee that person never picked up an instrument EVER!

@stevenr105 im from costa mesa is orange county and people around me listen to those stations and what i think is funny is when power106 says "where hip-hop live" then they play lady gaga or something really gay.
You know, I always liked Hiero, I liked Souls of Mischief, but I started out with Del. I went to Opio, found out about A-Plus and got into Souls of Mischief... but my point is that for whatever reason, the more I find out about myself... the more I grow the more I get interested in Hieroglyphics. I have never once been out of love with this crew. I really hope this lives til infinity.
they're suckin on lil wayne and soulja boyz dicks.... i hate it, its enraging to know that a group, no this song alone can destroy mainstreap shit hop we listen to today... music is part of the soul, and when we have kids praising lil wayne and his retarded ass lyrics over lyrics like phesto's ......how am i supposed to feel yo
Del isnt in this video. Pep Love walks through in the beginning, but everyone else is strictly Souls of Mischief, in this order too, Tajai, Phesto, A Plus, Opio. Just so you kno my fellow Hiero fan Peace
Yo this whole album is still the shit. You just play it from the beginning and let it play til its over, then you let it restart too again & again. Easily one of my favorite albums ever, in my top 10 if not top 5. Besides the '93 til' track, this is my fav on the album, followed by 'Let em Know', 'Thats when Ya Lost', 'A name I call myself', 'What a way to go out', and the rest of the whole f***ing album, its just the shit all around.
lol im not gunna lie i bought this album 2 years ago (fuckin 25 bucks) worth everypenny but i let it play through like 3 times it is a very good album
Its always good to see that there are intelligent people in this world hahaha!! I try to explain the genius behind this album but many do not understand. Mainstream got them too brainwashed
I think corporate killed hip hop. Most of the lyrical groups of the late 80's through 90's weren't main stream enough so that the big corporate heads wouldn't give them much airplay. I'm just glad that i can find alot of this here on youtube.
It all comes down to the money. So now you have corporate rap like corporate rock.(Boston, Journey, Speedwagon). Lil` Wayne,T-Pain,Diddy are no different.
my man, serriously, check this fuckin pop tart...bubble gum rap motha fucka...hes advocating for the shit thats the death of hip hop...people are dumb...they bring up talib kweili as if hes underground...they ten, 12 years late on that tip...its easy for us to weed through the fake bitches and the true hip hop heads at this point in life...
I know about DOOM and KWELI but how are these "new rising ones" good mc's??? what's the criteria??? because they're clothes are color-coordinated?? because they have catchy "sing-song" hooks? because they have dance moves??? because they have slick vids? because they have babes in their video??? please elaborate, because i don't HEAR it how bout we talk about wordplay, rhyme scheme, content, style, delivery... and most importantly ORIGINALITY you tell me.
Cool Kids have original style and beats, and a sense of humor
Charles Hammilton comes up with some crazy song concepts, like in "Windows Media Player" "the N word" and many more he tries to think of something new to base each song around
BoB is just talented even if he not the best lyrically and i just like his music and messages from "generation lost" to "change gonna come" to "change gonna come"
they all got originality, style and delivery and POTENTIAL
i agree wit all except bob cuz i havent heard him charles has a wierd style that makes him good and cool kids have that retro style and i can tell they were inspired by the 80's
Gay....shit is gay...Charles Hamilton?!?!?!? Cool kids?!?! how old are you herb?? 12!?!?!? Reks is a young emcee, termanology, Joell ortiz, Vordul Mega, Marco polo, Brainstorm, Savage Brothers, Lord Lhust...these are good newer, young emcees...you're talking about youth within the underground, not underground right? cause why the fuck are bitches like your Hamilton getting fame but jo jo pellagrino has been slept on for ten years!?!? and thats just the tip, i havent even broken the surface
mf doom and talib kweli have been around for 15 years...talib kweili hasnt been underground since lyricist lounge days when him, mos def, wordsworth where my favorite emcees in 98...when rawkus records was hot and thirstin howl, EL-P and the days before Eastern conference started...but you dont know what im talkin about do you? you a piop fan, stay watching your MTV....you a dumb pop fan son...
does any 1 really listening 2 phesto lyrics, thts krazy , ithnk yall haf 2 luk ^ da lyrics on da enternet cuz dats da sickes rhyme i eva heard......Ponder on this, I swallowed the spliff with elocution
Encompassing the pompous means when I escalate my tool
Shins get split, men get spindled swiveled pivoted
Classic shit. You guys stop bickering about hip-hop being dead. There's tons of new groups coming out lately that are dope. Pacific Division for example, they sound like a combination of The Pharcyde and Souls
get the whole album "the blend tape" and there new one "church league champions"... they got mad tracks that sound like souls and they even rhyme over '93 until infinity
oh 90s hiphop, so much better.

Loudmouf84 2 years ago 5
lol im not gunna lie i bought this album 2 years ago (fuckin 25 bucks) worth everypenny but i let it play through like 3 times it is a very good album

I'm just glad that i can find alot of this here on youtube.
cualpha06 2 years ago 9
It all comes down to the money. So now you have corporate rap like corporate rock.(Boston, Journey, Speedwagon). Lil` Wayne,T-Pain,Diddy are no different.
kevhar12 2 years ago 2
never compare Journey to Lil' Wayne
TutsRevenge 2 years ago
Yeah, you are right I actually like Journey also. I shold have said Air Supply.
kevhar12 2 years ago 3
thats more like it
TutsRevenge 2 years ago 3
he was only trying to make a point regarding corporate influence over artistic content. I don't think he was trying to equate journey to lil wane..

yo cool kids weren't even born when hiero came out, get it straight.
all these new cats are garbage and a disgrace and so are their fans...
phesto is one of the most slept on hiero members...
montezuma revenge=prince paul on the beats
associatedFRESH 2 years ago 6
true that phesto is my fav. memeber from hiero
chasitieee 2 years ago 2
woa. no reason to rank on cool kids and they are still good mcs:
MF DOOM, Talib Kweli
and new rising ones:
Charles Hammilton and B.o.B.
i agree bout phesto and is the montezuma album gonna be by souls or the whole heiro crew?
mcYunBaconBitz 2 years ago
yeah doom and kweli are dope
but sorry man no offense,
you're DEAD WRONG about cool kids, charles hamilton and b.o.b
these new rising ones are copycat follow-the- leader types...
i grew up in era where this was considered unacceptable. one might counter with, "well, times change" and in fact they do,
but the spirit and originality of the DOPE MC does not...
montezuma's = S.O.M.
associatedFRESH 2 years ago
my man, serriously, check this fuckin pop tart...bubble gum rap motha fucka...hes advocating for the shit thats the death of hip hop...people are dumb...they bring up talib kweili as if hes underground...they ten, 12 years late on that tip...its easy for us to weed through the fake bitches and the true hip hop heads at this point in life...

Cool Kids have original style and beats, and a sense of humor
Charles Hammilton comes up with some crazy song concepts, like in "Windows Media Player" "the N word" and many more he tries to think of something new to base each song around
BoB is just talented even if he not the best lyrically and i just like his music and messages from "generation lost" to "change gonna come" to "change gonna come"
they all got originality, style and delivery and POTENTIAL
mcYunBaconBitz 2 years ago
i respect your trying to put up a good argument.
but i ultimately have to disagree...
associatedFRESH 2 years ago
i agree wit all except bob cuz i havent heard him charles has a wierd style that makes him good and cool kids have that retro style and i can tell they were inspired by the 80's
THEMAYNE15 2 years ago
Gay....shit is gay...Charles Hamilton?!?!?!? Cool kids?!?! how old are you herb?? 12!?!?!? Reks is a young emcee, termanology, Joell ortiz, Vordul Mega, Marco polo, Brainstorm, Savage Brothers, Lord Lhust...these are good newer, young emcees...you're talking about youth within the underground, not underground right? cause why the fuck are bitches like your Hamilton getting fame but jo jo pellagrino has been slept on for ten years!?!? and thats just the tip, i havent even broken the surface
skymunro 2 years ago
mf doom and talib kweli have been around for 15 years...talib kweili hasnt been underground since lyricist lounge days when him, mos def, wordsworth where my favorite emcees in 98...when rawkus records was hot and thirstin howl, EL-P and the days before Eastern conference started...but you dont know what im talkin about do you? you a piop fan, stay watching your MTV....you a dumb pop fan son...

Encompassing the pompous means when I escalate my tool
Shins get split, men get spindled swiveled pivoted
By my riveting centrifuge
I swindling crews, bringing a fist to bruise
Pulverizing skulls annihilating trifling dunces

This song proves big words (excuse me extensive vocabulary) can be intimidating
mcYunBaconBitz 2 years ago 2
Classic shit. You guys stop bickering about hip-hop being dead. There's tons of new groups coming out lately that are dope. Pacific Division for example, they sound like a combination of The Pharcyde and Souls
pushthempads 2 years ago
No they don't, i just checked them out and they sound A LOT MORE like The Cool Kids.
No prob tho i love the Cool Kids
mcYunBaconBitz 2 years ago
get the whole album "the blend tape" and there new one "church league champions"... they got mad tracks that sound like souls and they even rhyme over '93 until infinity
