it was clear from the very first moment that the keeper wasn't faking because he had the ball, or at least he had the time to throw it out of the pitch..it was clear that he got injured for real.
@timetodwell Well officially, the ref should give a handball. For all we know the keeper could have been faking. I would have given the free kick to the defending team.
@TheMarc220194 maybe the same soccer that's on Gilette Soccer Saturday on skysports? or Soccer Night on ITV... i wish association football fans would stop being bellends about a nickname for a sport that the English even invented.
@KiddFury7 there is something called commonsense..obviously it can't be used in situations like stealing a car..but here we're talking about sport, you can't make such a comparison..anyway, from what I see this is your way of interprete life, and there is no way to change it..so I just disagree but respect it..
Its not fair to score into an empty net if the keeper is feigning injury or actually injured. I would justify this all day long to manager if i had caught the ball!
tell you what, if that happened in today's game the ref would probably book di canio for handball as the refs we have now are fucking useless and their heads are up their own asses.
@TimeToDwell A fair point, but do you not think the ref in this game wasn't "fucking useless" for not stopping play due to serious injury in the first place?
don't think the goalkeeper faked it coz he didn't have too since the ball was a meter from him, he could have just pushed it out or in corner but he didnt so i think he was really hurt
@up0side0down11 Maybe, I don't know! Di Canio couldn't know either! In my opinion, he acted correctly! I mean, even if the goalie faked it, you don't see this kind of play any more...
Wiki bit: "The player has, in his autobiography, praised Mussolini as "basically a very principled, ethical individual" who was "deeply misunderstood".
He has the word "Dux", the Latin equivalent of "Duce", tattooed on his arm.
Lazio's connection with fascists has not waned over the years. When di Canio gave his first salute, in a game against the city's other major club, Lazio's hated rivals AS Roma, last January, the crowd included Il Duce's granddaughter Alessandra Mussolini." Is that clear?
@TheMarc220194 That would be what the ENGLISH called Association Football instead of Rugby Football, ie "soccer" and "rugger" , those weird English and their odd linguistic foibles, eh?
Barcelona is every year the winner of the fair play honour title. You just QQ, Madrid fan?, or Chelsea?, maybe Inter?, ever the same, exMou teams supports.

The goalkeeper should feel sooooooooo bad to dive against the player who did like ... one of the only five fair play action in the football history ^^
@22penners22 you're an asshole, it's not about killer instinct even if he had put the ball in the net the play surely would have been brought back, whenever the keeper stays down and there is a scoring chance the ref will probably call the play especially if it's something like that
that salute was a roman one long before the nazi's took it as their own. and lazio are a roman side. just some people still see it as a nazi salute. think di canio is a bit nuts anyhow. good for the game.
Love the player top right corner. It's like he's saying "Everytime I get a decent cross in everytime, what will it take to get an assist this season....."

@98raza20 I CAN blame him for political views. And I *can* drag them into this discussion because someone else thought it was necessary to start moaning about Barcelona for no reason at all.
@Jelboo you can't because that would be infringing on his political freedom and that would be fascist :) tbh I would respect Barcelona if they did a fascist salute. Not because I agree with fascism or even right wing politics but because it would show they weren't plastic unemotional girls they show them selves to be. I respect any politically active footballer, shows they have a mind of they're own and are passionate about something other than making money.
ahahah a footballer can ever be politically active? wtf? a parasite of society teaching political ideology?
and i think also that fascism and also communism in the world of football are just a big mess...just ancient ideologies in a world that has changed a lot...
@Jelboo that salute was a roman one long before the nazi's took it as their own. and lazio are a roman side. just some people still see it as a nazi salute. think di canio is a bit nuts anyhow. good for the game.
@Popino09 Many people like him and me are doing it for the same reasons. And no one can say whether good or bad they are. Just let it go and enjoy the football.
@shanemul1 the enjoying thing is that most of people who hate di canio are getting mad with this video more than with the one where he does the roman salute. "He is a fascist, he should beat some poor immigrants not playing fair". To all those poor narrowminded leftists who are not into football and try to explain everything through politics, this video is ABOUT FAIR PLAY AND DOES NOT EXPRESS POLITICAL VIEWS.
@Martinez1887 he doesn't call himself Nazi either. He considers himself a Fascist. If you don't know the difference between Fascism and Nazism, then please, stop posting crap.
@Martinez1887 So, I'm the moron for actually posting a true thing? Just, please, stop making a fool of yourself and google the difference between Nazism and Fascism.
@Martinez1887 Shut the fuck up if you don't know what you're talking about, you're probably some jealous jacked up little cunt who wishes he could ever rival the legend that is Paolo Di Canio.
@ALEYADI10 Maybe. But what team would do this thing. First, it's not West Ham but Di Canio who did it. Second, why are you only talking about Barcelona in your comment ? I'm not a Barça fan (Paris SG and Man U) but above all I'm a fan of beautiful (and fair) play... So, try to use your brain to make a bit more intelligent comment next time.
Di canio is a footballing icon you'd never see messi, kaka, ozil, ronaldo, xavi or anyother world class player do anything as fair as this ronaldo just dives and tricks the ref. Di canio is a true gentleman
Solito fascista rissoso del cazzo.... il bello è che in Italia passa come un dio del fair paly solo per aver fatto un'azione buna su mille altre pessime....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Firstly the goalkeeper dived like a bitch as if he had just been shot in the legs, Di Canio shoould probably have played on as that keeper deserved to concede a goal for it. Secondly, Di Canio probably caught it because he knew he wasnt going to score anyway. He had defenders all around him and in the box too, even one on the verge of winning the header until he pulled out! No chance Di Canio would have scored it. Fair play it obviously was, but shouldnt be given as much credit as he has been
@GunnerSlave He already had his hands up the moment he saw the goalkeeper fall. I don't think he had assessed the situation like you claim. He just thought "keeper injured = play should stop". Don't overthink it.
@imprezajay Benito Mussolini was a horrible dictator who murdered his own people for no reason other than having dissenting opinions. Mussolini also provided protections for the Nazi German government.
Fascism is the worst scourge Europe has ever faced. The fact that there are still proponents is disgusting.
I advise you to read some books about politics and history. Anyone who openly endorses the Italian government under Benito Mussolins, in fact, the ignorant one.
oh..come on..u people dont have to make it political....it has been described as the most appreciable act in footballing history by FIFA..u cant see fairplay played fairer than this
@Heartectonics Agreed. But how fair is the total dive done by the goalkeeper? IMO, if you want to create TOTAL fair play, you have to get rid of these ridiculous dives to win over the referees as well. Or better yet, bring in video replay to catch that kind of crap and make the right call on a given play.
@kbakken1 He actually twisted his knee when he got up. It wasn't a dive. You know you can look these things up right? That's what the internet is for.
I could never understand what was so great about this gesture. Not like Di Canio had a chance of scoring.

Anyone who openly endorses the Italian government under Benito Mussolins, in fact, the ignorant one.

oh..come on..u people dont have to make it political....it has been described as the most appreciable act in footballing history by FIFA..u cant see fairplay played fairer than this
Heartectonics 5 months ago
@Heartectonics Agreed. But how fair is the total dive done by the goalkeeper? IMO, if you want to create TOTAL fair play, you have to get rid of these ridiculous dives to win over the referees as well. Or better yet, bring in video replay to catch that kind of crap and make the right call on a given play.
kbakken1 5 months ago
@kbakken1 He actually twisted his knee when he got up. It wasn't a dive. You know you can look these things up right? That's what the internet is for.
