You should read 'A Confederacy of Dunces' by John Kennedy Toole. While it's not about anything in particular, there is a common theme throughout the book that any political movement gets commercialized, homogenized, and made to mean nothing once it gains momentum. It's told in a unique manner, with the story's protaganist being a 40 year-old virgin who lives with his mom. It's quirky and clever, and very enjoyable IMHO...but why would you sit on a baby just to find a good book???
