I'm 44 now and, My first dirt bike was a 1978 XR75, I bought it used in 1980 for $275 dollars with a bald back tire, owned it for 4 years road the crap out of it, jumped it 3 ft in the air, good wheelies
I used to put 1 gallon of gas in it and ride all day, what a blast when I was young. 5 gears 55mph top speed.
Sold it when I was 16 for $225 with the same bald tire, only repairs were new throttle cable and to handle grips, only issue was loosing the bolts that held the low exhaust pipe.
Nice bike. I like the rear swing arm. Did you modify the original? I have a similar project going now. A 78 xr75 with 81 cr80 forks and an 83 xr100 swing arm. I am close to a rolling chassis now. Just need to weld a few tabs to the fork stop to keep the tubes from hitting the tank. Tank is restored and I have all the plastics. Paint mostly done. Next is to powrol my engine and get the dg replica pipe!
