Solitude nagrana z Robertem jest wersją ow iele lepszą niż oryginał a album King Of The Grey Ilands jest prawdziwym majstersztykiem!!
@ScrapMonster88 Tak obaj panowie mają zajebiste głosy tylko że Solitude w orginale (i żadna piosenka z Epicus Doomicus Metalicus) nie była śpiewana przez Marcolina
@Cannon0014 He can touch it as long as people remember Messiah is the master of these songs. These versions have their own Merits. But they lack something compared to Messiahs stuff. Just my 2 cents.
wow... i came to this song expecting to have bad opinions (because Langquist is my fave CM vocalist) but i'm pleasantly surprised. I need to listen to more Lowe work.
Luxury problems :D technically, Johan could be the worst singer who ever sang for Candlemass, and he is so incredibly awesome I bet 90% of all traditional Metal bands in the world would murder to get someone like him in the band. I would! All four singers were nothing less then magnificent.
This version of the song ist great. It gives it an slightly other feeling. It's more intimate this way, and way more epic, though I miss a little bit the sheer desperation the original has.
I honestly can't decide on which vocalist I like the best....I'll just say Candlemass is a band that has always had a phenomenal vocalist, regardless of the era.
Johan's version sounds so much better .. much more emotion if you ask me. This one does nothing to me , Johan's version gave me the shivers when listening to it.
most comments here compare Messiah to Lowe. It is really shocking that no one acknowledges Johan Langqvist whose performance in Epicus was just astounding and in my opinion much better than anything any singer after him did with Candlemass.
Only bad Candlemass singer was between chapter Chapter VI and From the 13th Sun. I've been listening those albums least of their discography though, but thats my opinion.
I think both Rob and Messiah are great singers... but for some reason I think Solitude from 1986 is better than this version (even it's not sung by Messiah).
Anyway - great song and great band. Candlemass forever!
Wow. I've been listening to Candlemass for 7 years and thought I was a Candlemass fan but I realize that I didnt know there was a previous singer.
Messiah is and will always, in my heart, be the ONE and ONLY Candlemass vocalist. His voice haunts my soul!!!
The only other singer of Candlemass I knew of was Thomas Vikström, who sang for Chapter VI. I didnt like him at all. Nothing unique about him. To me, Messiah is the voice and god of Doom Metal.
You've listened to Candlemass for 7 years and never listened to Epicus where one of the greatest singers of all time sings on? Johan Längquist? Messiah have a crazy voice but I can't stand it live, it's not bad, but he is so god damn lazy. Lowe in Candlemass is still a grower, but his work in Solitude Aeturnus should be heard by everyone who enjoys doom. A living legend in my books, that voice is just great, so fucking great.
Agreed. I think Robert is the best one of them. Messiah sings in some of the best candlemass songs, and its perfect. But live his so annoying! He never holds the notes, still he can't keep his mouth shut for one second live.
Absolutely, he rants on and on "hey hey hey hey" and dances, but the actual singing part? Uh-uh, no no just laaazy. I envy and congratz everyone who will enjoy Candlemass playing Epicus with Johan next year, headbang for me too and cheer him good, he deserves it!
No, Messiah did not sing the original studio version from their first album, that was Johan Lanquist[not sure about spelling]. I like this version too, this remake, but on the same album they had Robert redo "At The Gallows End", Messiah's masterpiece, that was did not come out well, to Me. That one they should have left alone. The new album should be great, its going to be called "Death Magic Doom"
I actually think Rob did a better job with At The Gallows End as well. The only song from the Messiah era Rob should never cover is Samarithan its absolute perfection just the way it is.
Really? That's interesting. I think the Rob Lowe version of Solitude is better but the original Gallow's End is the superior version. Either way, we're debating Candlemass after all, so let's just agree to rock on.
this version sounds so generic that it is a pain to listen. vocal is capable but all the magic is simply GONE

@pickmetofight There's a new recording of this version of Solitude with him, from 2007. It's here on Youtube if you look it up.

(from doomology 2010).
Awesome version! JOHAN's voice is a miracle!

He's not a horrid singer, per se, but...he sounds really generic. I infinitely prefer Johan Langquist's vocals.
