  • Hi, I love your clips. You`re a "train" :-)

Also you your great comments (.."till the cows come home, . till the parents come home) ha ha ha.. so great, buddy. Well, I see there`s a lot of work...

  • I'm having the hardest time keeping this beat even for very long, with nice feel/accents. Thanks for the upload. I've tried it both ways, starting singles with right hand, accent with right, and also how you are doing it, doubles, matching a standard 2 step beat. I guess I'll quit drums now and start a new hobby called tequilla!

  • hey man! i am a huge huge fan of your videos. i have learned so much. i was wondering how you tune your floor tom and i was wondering what snare your using? it sounds great! im 16 and growing up with metal heads and they dont understand that less IS more. i love the simplicity in your drumming. yet you can burn it up on your gospe stuff! hope to hear from you soon!

  • Thanks for posting this. I think playing this beat as double strokes with accents is a good chops builder, and also allows you to work on dynamics ( ghosting) at the same time. But the version with singles is good too ;)

  • whats the fancy name for the cymbal with holes

  • Nice snare...

  • Awesome! I was looking for something exactly like this. I've been trying to find a way to play the train beat with more feel....I always found the RLRL accenting the right handed hits to be too rigid for my liking.

  • this is very good. we play a song where i use the train beat, but the lads like to play it slower now than we use to play it. never know what tempo b4 it starts. slow train beat is hard to excersise cleanly. not been play playing that long check out "union avenue" the red river band, would love some advice. thats the fast tempo incidently.

  • what are your accents on the intro of the song?

  • this is great, keep it up and keep the lessons coming they are a great help!

  • UNTIL THE COWS COME HOME......hahahaha man you are cool.

    subscribed for the cows

  • yea coltrain cymbals and snares are always the issue. great postings. you have demonstrated exactly what i wanted to learn. thanks man

  • thanks for this little video man. I got called to do a show in 2 weeks and I have like 40 country songs to learn and half of them use this train beat. I was very much overplaying it (using more rimshots than needed and whatnot). Great video.. really made my life easier and it sounds great.

  • hey man why are you playing the accents with your left? is it cause they are on 1, 3

  • That is a good question. Well, the accents are actually heavily on the 2 and 4. Alot of times people will play that beat as a rlrl accenting alal the right hands, but I have found after a while that doing double strokes gives me a stronger pocket, metronomically and aggresively. So, it is

    1 2 3 4

    rr Ll rr Ll

    Good luck.

  • the vary first part could you brake it down when you hit the tom

  • Nice. I love your kit! I really love small set ups lol. Your kick sounds amazing too, is that an Aquarian Superkick you're using?

  • Thanks. I really have lucked out with all the components of that kit. Everything finally came together. I believe the bass head is an Aquarian Superkick. I will check.

  • Cheers mate :) yeah, it's a beauty. What kit is it exactly? I know you said the snare is a Tama, but the kit looks like a Peavey or something?

  • The kit is a Sonor. It is a total workhorse. The cymbals and snare have been a challenge, but as for the rest of the kit, it has been as reliable as a kit can be....and I beat it pretty bad.
