Just because you don't know how to play a Blu-Ray disk or don't have the right equipment doesn't mean DVD is better. Also, I'm sure this was a joke, but it wasn't all that funny.
I don't care what you say, DVD can't touch blu-ray. I've seen HD DVD and Blu-Ray next to eachother, blu ray is just so beautiful..especially with avatar
sorry but i have blurays, just came home with Star Trek in fact on bluray. I also have downloaded the rip just to see how quality compares... it just is not as good ;)
and no DRM issues here so, yeah ill gladly pay and LOL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT... as if we can already :O
well since a PS3 player has the HD thingy and so does my tv screen, which is a full HD 1080p screen im fine :P
the full set also did not cost me so much and so far i have gotten my money's worth well out of it, the bluray experience is like none other. Especially with the PCM 5.1 cinema surround system i have from Sony, just pure epic win :P
litterly the sound and visual quality is just wow, it is so strange playing DVDs on the system you never realise before that how bad the quality was :P
all we need is HDMI and besides my bluray player is a PS3 so it updates the player automatically anyway along with new PS3 updates...
As for the updates on normal players usually they are optional unless for the DRM, but yeah DRM is a legal issue that will be in bluray and any future technology I am pretty sure they tried putting some kind of DRM in DVD too but just couldn't :P
Ah look at that one of the older "high def" televisions without HDCP support lovely. I dislike how those HD yet not HD televisions flooded the market. I mean they are not fully HD.
You can get past it by using component connections, does look that different or you could get an expensive HDMI to SDI box then link it to an SDI to HDMI box, broadcast equipment can usually bypass that sort garbage. If you're very lucky and find a BD player with VGA out put that will exactly the same as HDMI.
Although it seems that the Universal is the only studio to not put an sort of copy protection on their VHS tapes, I don't know about DVDs and BDs though.

That is the evil sting like most DRM... it is cracked already!

True Hence why they don't allow full HD playback over AV component cables.

HDCP also doesn't work on many HDMI connections
leetxjd 2 years ago
DUH! - HDCP is DRM copy protection that defeats the use of the COMPONENT output.
leetxjd 2 years ago
You're not doing it right. Fix up your HDCP problem first and then post a video.

HDCP sucks big time.
As long as the studios insist on this nasty sucky Digital Restrictions Management (DRM) on HD content, We wont be touching it any time soon.
