  • Sounds like its got abit of oomff ! This organ make it up to Pickering ? :) Wouldn't mind having a look if its there next weekend.

  • Pity it is not coming west. I think it would sound much better if any new owneer hadf those awful non original trumpets taken out and the original wooden ones put back as it is very unbalanced We can hope. Also taking it off that awful MIDI

  • Hooray!.

  • what i meant was that its his organ to sell if he wants.what i should have said also that i wish he would.to someone who would care for it and give the respect it deserves.

  • My only comment was on how good this organ was when I first knew it.I made no comment about it being sold.I know nothing about this.it`s Frank Lythgoes organ and he can do what he likes with it.

  • @noseyful can he indeed? thats very charming of you! I could not disagree more with you. Frank should be ashamed of himself for destroying the mighty Marenghi. He seems very disinterested in the fair organ world nowdays anyway...I can not work people like him out. Very quirky lifestyle he leads.

  • I never realized that there were so many tone deaf people about.

  • I remember this organ when it used to visit Goose Fair in the ownership of Tom Norman you should have heard it then.its a crying shame the state it is in now.

  • @noseyful do you think? how can you be certain the person telling you the organ had been sold was not starting a rumour just to get tongues clacking? Its not true!

  • @noseyful it has been bought by a family in Exeter so lets hope the new owner springs the organ up!

  • If that's the case, and the new owner has the much needed work carried out, I think we will see how good an organ this can be soon!

  • GREAT NEWS: this organ has just been sold with one of Lythgoes steamy engines to a man in Exeter who has bought both for three million. Can not wait to see what happens to the Marenghi. Spread the word!

  • @Poppinsuktour - This organ has not been sold, niether has the 89 lythgoe marenghi, Dont know why you would want to provide people with false infomation.

  • @EddyNickson well thats all you know because in that as in so many things your information is faulty. Both organs have been sold to a man in Exeter. I have been told by a man through facebook and I believe a mans word as I would believe my own. You will find out that I am right sooner or later.

  • @Poppinsuktour Mouth false rubbish from the mouth of the youtube idiot of many profiles!!

  • Awesome!

  • lots of new videos of this organ on my channel filmed at the weekend for anyone who is interested

  • what an amazing looking organ

  • Sounds pretty good just needs some tuning. The trumpet pipes mostly.

  • you folks can't seem to realize that the organ is only a bit out of tune, and also that this is a mediocre quality video with mediocre quality audio as well (sorry Eddy). If you look at some of the other videos of this same organ, in better fidelity on a day when it was in better tune, I think you'll realize it sounds pretty darn good. I like this arrangement!

  • PS Eddy don't get me wrong, I'm glad you posted the video and I know you can only work with the camera that you've got (I've been in the same situation taking video).

I am just mad that some of these people can't seem to differentiate between a decent-sounding organ shot in reduced-fidelity sound and video (which also makes the facade colors look funny) versus an organ which actually sounds and looks bad.

  • This is my favourite organ and it saddens me to see and hear it playing so bdly - I remember when it used to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Now it makes your teeth itch with frustration at how good it could be. I just hope the next owner chooses the right person to rebuild it. (Kevin Meayers hint hint)

  • ngf396, your comments are very intriguing... I think this organ sounds pretty good right now. Do you have any recordings you could post of it from back when it could make your neck-hair stand up? I am very interested to hear it like that.

  • why don't you buy it then and then you can chose the right person to rebuild it if you are so concerned?

  • @SamBozson give me half a million pounds and I will, no problem! :)

  • @ngf396 check out my channel for some fantastic very high quality videos of this organ. Why not subscribe too? Support young blood!

Check out the videos I have of the organ...they are fab!

  • Sorry but I have to agree with all the negative comments here. The organ is long overdue a restoration. If you want to hear how a 98 key Marenghi should sound then listen to the outstanding A&R Marenghi.

  • sounds terrible now! pity its not being looked after properly

  • I think it needs to be a tad tuned.

  • silly comments from folk who do not know owt about mechanical organs!! sounds like a 98 key marenghi should do GOOD!!!!

  • the organ is fine as it is and it still sounds and looks as beautifull as it did when it was book operated years ago

i hope it will tour a bit more now

  • Its about time this organ was sold, restored, re painted and put in a new wagon or something...

  • How dare you insult my favourite organ - it is absolutely fine as it is. You obviously haven't seen it out or you wouldn't say such an awful thing about it

  • Why would you ever what to repaint it? That's a fascinating colour scheme it has going.

  • Hey Sam, this version was played on disc.

  • Hi Eddy, was this one playing on the key frame or on the disc? It sounds different to my video of this tune. It's the best tune and thats why the book is by the keyframe!

  • cool organ
