I think many people are blinded by the fact that DBZ is the godfather of all battle manga and fail to see that it has been surpassed by One Piece in almost every aspect. Comedy, drama, storytelling, fascinating world, creative fights and abilities, everything is better in One Piece. DBZ has overpowered characters and fights were lots of shit and planets explode and I guess many kids like that, ok but you can´t tell me DBZ has more variety than One Piece!
In the end it's always a popularity contest. I blame faulty marketing for one piece's lack of popularity. While you see DBZ and Naruto backpacks OP gets no love. I have seen all of Dragon ball and dragon ball z so I'm trying not to sound biased but if you give one piece a chance you will find it is a really enjoyable show. In my opinion OP has a better story and character development than dbz. You are welcome to disagree if you don't think its true.
And, people keep asking for Dragonball Z things and I have never heard, and in my high school there is a LOT of kids, say anything about Once Piece xD But yea I think One Piece is good a bit but, I dunno cant get into it. but did you know that Toriyama and Fuuuu Edo? I think or what's One Piece's authors name? But they know each other and made a cross-over xD It was hialrious and I loved it :D Which made me gain MEGA respect for One Piece, I jjust want Naruto to end and Bleach to end :(

I think that Dragonball Z is always better. One Piece can never be compared to Dragonball Z, the only reason One Piece(From what I have learned over the years) has grown so much is because of it being aired on channel 28 was I was 10, then people then looked up on their own. Now, it is pretty big, but I always say Dragonball Z is best no matter what, quality over quanitity. DBZ has MANY MANY things :D
I think that there both good animes/mangas but remember in DBZ Kai Goku has on luffys hat in japan its an picture actually made by the people come on how can you have and awesome anime like one piece and DBZ and not do fusion Thumbs up if you agree
Dragon Ball Z was ok. Too much episode padding. I mean that 20 episode Freeza fight was just tedius and quickly got boring. Also Goku spends three minutes making constipated noises while creating a spirit bomb and it doesn't even work. (Ok it knocks off Freeza's tail but it was supposed to kill him and end the battle.)
One Piece is the only one out of the big three (Bleach and Naruto) that has gotten a crossover with Dragonball. That's all I have to say about that. xD
They do have many in common,for example luffy is kinda stupid like goku but he still saves the world in the end of the day,ussop is kinda like krillin he is weak but still he is useful,zoro resembles to vegeta because both of them want to be the very best in what they do,sanji is like the master roshi of one piece both perverts.To conclude there are many similarities but what i like more about one piece is that all characters play some role unlike dbz where only goku and gohan are useful!

One Piece is far closer to DB than Naruto, in terms of storytelling, adventure and characters. DBZ on the other hand has no real resemblance to either of them, it was an source of inspiration, but the only thing that kind of feels similar are the fights, but even they follow different mechanics.

Toriyama intended to end the series after every major villain of Z and as a result of fan reaction he continued the series, loopholes are intevitable. Naruto is hardly the epitome of plot either.

Even Naruto has neglected some great characters, like Lee and Neji. Although, I'll give Naruto credit for giving screen time to brand new, awesome characters (like Raikage), which is redeeming for the series. However, when DBZ gave screen time to new characters in the Majiin Buu arc, none of them could compare to characters of the past, like Future Trunks and Tien. That was DBZ's downfall, not having balance in screen time for the decent characters, but One Piece is still balanced.

That means before kisame would even be able to do the water bubble thing he would die and there is many other ways he would get his ass beat but don't have enough characters to tell you them and plus I don't feel like doing so.

@RegretfulEnd its not a small bubble.. its a very huge dome of water.. mm. maybe size of a largemountains and kisame is in the center of it when e moves the water ball follows..fast as lightning?t here are characers that can do that tooin naruto. tey can even do teleporting. -___-

Being fast as lightning I'm pretty sure he would be able to escape the range of a mountain within one second hence the term as fast as lightning. Another thing what about the merman huh? They get stronger in the water and they have steroids to take to make them even stronger. Kisame can't do anything to merman. Ha bitch!

@ziurakitski10 I never said you couldn't talk about them you were saying Kisame would kill everybody in One Piece so that's why I said we were talking about Kisame not Naruto. The Samehada only eats chakra and in One Piece they don't have chakra so it wouldn't do anything to them except the scale like things that would scape their body. Merman have multiple attacks I can't just name them off like that but to be more general about it Fishman karate. That are extremely powerful

Even Naruto has neglected some great characters, like Lee and Neji. Although, I'll give Naruto credit for giving screen time to brand new, awesome characters (like Raikage), which is redeeming for the series. However, when DBZ gave screen time to new characters in the Majiin Buu arc, none of them could compare to characters of the past, like Future Trunks and Tien. That was DBZ's downfall, not having balance in screen time for the decent characters, but One Piece is still balanced.

The general consensus is that Post- East Blue is where it begins to really grow.
Enies Lobby and Marinford Saga are the more action packed parts, but if you are looking for just random fights then One Piece is probably not for you.
One Piece is focused on Adventure, characters and story. The One Piece universe is VERY developed.

DBZ is the most famous anime in the world/history because if you ask someone(of any age), that is not a fan of anime/manga, if he/she knows DBZ he/she will provably say yes that they know but if you ask them about one piece they won't know what your talking about

@SuprSlowMo I disagree, it may appear like that on YouTube, but if you go to any forum debating One Piece you'll find that it's hardcore fans are it's harshest critics. Skypiea and Fishman Island are the most heavily criticised.
I don't think it is wanked, I think it is one of the greatest action/adventure shonen along with Dragonball (not Z) and pre-Chimera ant arc Hunter X Hunter and possibly FMA.
