greg is the best diver in the whole world. i've been a fan of his sense i was 10 years old and i'm still a fan now that i'm in my 30's and i will be till the day i die. he is so graceful when he dives it's just beautiful. when he hit his head on the diving board i was in so much shock but i was so happy that he was ok. i think he's a brave man and not just in his diving but in his life as well. i would love to meet him someday thats one of my wishes is to meet him.

This was the reason me and my friends try all sorts of dives at our community pool. Diving is fun as hell, but scary. Especially when you see Greg bust his head on the platform, and your friend get carried out of the swim club on a stretcher 3 years later.

It's easier to score higher on dives with higher DDs. In 20 years, people have developed techniques to allow for more rotation, such as "cowboy"ing a tuck, which, if you watch, Louganis didn't do once. By "best," they mean the most technically sound, not the one who scored the most points or won the most championships. No one compares to him technically or aesthetically.

my diving coach, Doctor Mark Antonoff, dove with greg in college. i get to hear stories of him. Apperently, at Indiana state, he went to do a reverse 3 1/2 off the platform, he touched the ceiling cuz he jumped so friggen high!

What people also have to realize in calculating Louganis's overall contribution to US Diving is that his 1984 performance inspired the NEXT generation of US Diving Olympians and our LAST medalists--Mark Lenzi, Scott Donie, Cokie,Mitchell, Williams, and Wilkerson, to train harder and focus on becoming Olympians and medalists....which we've been sorely bereft of in some time.....

No doubt, Louganis is the greatest diver ever. The entire Chinese program, as dominant as it is today, is based on Louganis' form and technique. When the Chinese coaches looked to build their program, they used Louganis film as their model.
