Im a farmer i grow tobacco and corn. Coons eat over 200 dollars worth of crops each month. They break in to barns, shit on everything, scrach up cars, rip apart garbage and lot more damage. I shot 4 of them and the game cop came up few weeks ago and saw 3 dead coons in my fire pit and gave me 3, 150 dollar tickets that i have to go to court with. Its bull shit.

It's cute, but playing with them is dangerous. Yeah, you could say rabies, distemper, etc, but it's more about the fact you could get a nice bit or scratch, and the raccoon will lose its life (they chop the head off to test for rabies). That and you can make them used to people and someone who DOESN'T like them will put a .22 round in them, just because they were being friendly.

As with most things in life with risk, the only handlers should be those with experience.
