  • Sing! Can't go wrong with Barry and Bassey.

  • @TheMilkshake05

    All I heard was "DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP".

  • My all-time favorite Bond movie !

  • hello, please feel welcome to see my piano version of this song

  • This is most brilliant; sung by one of the best voices in the business. My only gripe is that it could do with another couple of verses............

  • a very delicate and melodious crooning from Shirley bassey

  • beautiful song. a poem made into a song. one of the best bond themes, along with OHMSS theme and Casino Royale theme...

  • CLICK On RESPONSE for Shirley's END-TITLE version of this song!

  • Saw Miss Bassey concert on 57th street around 90 - 91

  • Insperation

  • This one ties well into last Space Shuttle July 09/07/11, and the Space program will continue in Russia.

  • jlmusicfan57, i am a big Bond fan, and i agree, but i was refering to just the song, not really so much the film.

  • Dame Shirley Bassey is the original Bond girl. She should sing all of them. Beautiful lyrics, sang by the one and only Dame Shirley!!

  • Shirley Bassey is a one of a kind. This song works as a James Bond theme and a stand alone ballad. Just beautiful. Thanx for posting.

  • joliphantful, Really? Moonraker was the last great Bond movie? You must have left planet Earth in 1979. How about Octopussy 1983, ( a much better R. Moore performance), The Living Daylights 1987, and Casino Royale 2006? Those 3 stand out as the best 007 movies since the heyday of Sean Connery's go as James Bond dating back to the early to mid 60's. Other than this exquisitely beautiful theme song to Moonraker performed by Shirley Bassey, the movie itself was average at best!

  • Roger Moore = 007

  • Flawless, Shirley Bassey at her best, i think this was the last of the great Bond movie songs, times were changing, Star Wars was here.

  • What a voice! :)

  • Really awesome movie, unfairly slated IMO. Great theme, the incidental music scattered through the movie (especially in the shuttle scenes) is ridiculously dark and moving

  • Shirley Bassey and Cass Elliot -- you don't need anything else.

  • Shirley,shirley shirley......don't call me surely!

  • Best Bond song ever - not the consensus but time will be good to this song.

  • I love this song. The best James Bond theme i think.

  • The best Bond film !!!!! So criticzed but still the best in my heart !!

  • @Rosannasfriend: Hey, thanks for asking! <3 I'm very fortunate to live in an area that was relatively unaffected--things got tossed around at work pretty good, and some stuff in my house fell over, but all in all it wasn't bad at all. We're also pretty far inland here, so there was no tsunami damage. Nothing at all like the horrible devastation up north.

  • This is such a gorgeous song. WE LOVE YOU, SHIRLEY BASSEY!

  • @KronosAtmosFear hey! You're in Japan. Are you ok? Were you in an area greatly affected?

  • MOST UNDERRATED Shirley Bassey Song of all Times!!!

    Thanks for posting and thum's'up!

  • JOHN BARRY RIP

  • Damn.......That woman sure could belt out a song !!

  • incredibly beautiful song

  • three words: Shirley Bassey OWNS!

  • I'm only three away from having all the classic bond films from Connery to Brosnan. Moonraker is one I need.

  • What an incredible voice!

  • @vitezjura, actually barry was the composer who wrote the bond songs,

  • incredibly sad and beautiful, ALWAYS, ALWAYS brings a tear to my eye...

  • the sharon tate of beautiful songs

  • Shirley Bassey, My favorite Bond girl.

    She is an incredible performer

  • Bond...James Bond.

  • Ha my mum thinks shirley Bassey is tha best singer ever ;) I think really she sounds the same on every song but I gotta say I like her Bond songs...Lol I prob would get ripped into even for admitting that to my friends and brothers but I cant help it...I like James Bond movies and the songs are always good ...even the theme music is excellent...Got to go England calls...;D

  • Knockout, heavenly, romantic song. Absolutely beautiful, and she sings it so well.

  • What I like about this movie is that, in the following ones, nobody ever mentionned again the space Marines equipped with lazer guns :P

Satelite Goldeneye wrecking up the earth? Send in the Space Marines! Satelites messing up with UK and China? Send in the Space Marines! Satelite Icare shooting light beam on minefields? Err... the missiles did not work but send in the Space Marines anyway!!

  • Thumbs up for best bond movie and best theme

  • Shirley Bassey has the best voice and despite many preferring Goldfinger as her best theme song, I actually think it was this one.

Growing up a fan of Moore, he is and always will be Bond to me. I can appreciate the others but Moore's version always represented the suave sophistication and humor that I associate with 007. Moonraker was not my favorite Moore film - I think For Your Eyes Only was a better movie all around. I was not a fan of the space oddesey gripping movies of the late 70s!

  • I miss adult music. Without depth and character, you're just left with the involuntary humping of youth.

  • I love this theme.

@Sincopare: Fuck you. How's that for "involuntary humping"?

  • @Lemon77UG Child

  • @Sincopare: What's wrong with being a child, you nazi? Am I supposed to take that as an insult?

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • all through the 60's, 70's and part of the 80's the bond movies and songs were great...I couldnt wait for the next one to come out ..usually every other June....the movies and songs started to go down with From a View to a Kill....with that horrible song....I dont even get care about the next Bond film anymore even though I think Craig is great...

  • This is my favourite Bond theme, sung by an incredible singer!! Fantastic! Thanks for posting.

  • best songs

    . moonraker

    .the spy who loved me

    .goldfinger

    .live and let die

    occtopussy

    .goldeneye.

  • " I seen your smile in a thousand dreams Felt your touch, and it always seemed

you loved me you loved me"

Those words make me cry every time

    f

  • The best Moore film

  • Definately one of my favorite Bond songs. There's just a serene and touching air to it. When I hear this sweet melody, no matter what troubles me, I can be at peace.

  • I think this song is a precious song, and it outstands by itself apart of its relationship with Bond stuffs. I sent this video to a woman I once loved.

    Thank you, Jo0000123

  • What a voice ... perfect for this beautiful song (and other hits by Shirley, of course). For me, this is the best of Bassey's three 007 themes. // Thank you Jo for placing it here.

  • @kdotmj *Gadgets

Sorry but for some reason I just couldn't resist, it seems like the worse spelling mistake ever O_O

  • @kdotmj your retarded this is best bond song. jaws is best villin ever. plot was massive, great action.

  • You Guys Forgot The Spy Who Loved Me?

    My list goes like this:

    1) Live And Let Die--Paul McCartney

    2) The Spy Who Loved Me--Carly Simon

    The rest are debatable.

  • @Swagaization

In terms of the actual movie or themes? In terms of themes..."View To A kill" ranks quite a bit up there...perhaps my favorite theme. But in terms of the movies, I agree, Live & Let Die and Spy Who Loved Me are my favorites. Oddly I DID like Moonraker even though many bond fans seem to not like it. I grew up in the Roger Moore era so I tend to like him over Sean Connery, but I like some of those too. Great movies in general.

  • @jukingeo:

Agreed. I am a fan of Roger Moore, also. I wish they could have only gotten him as Bond much earlier, during his days as The Saint. Sean Connery never was Bond to me. Roger had the feel of what I always imagined an international secret agent would be. A View To A Kill, that is a hard one, theme wise, since I am a Duran Duran fan. I just wish they had included full orchestration on that song, akin to Live And Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me. As for Moonraker, what a great film!!!

  • @Swagaization

I had the 45rpm of View To A Kill. Ditto here for being a Duran Duran fan. When the band came out I just KNEW they were going to do a James Bond theme...they just have THAT sound naturally. I DO like Sean Connery and some of the early Bond movies, but growing up with Roger Moore, he is still my preference. Sean Connery voiced an awesome looking dragon in the movie "Dragonheart". His voice was a perfect match. GREAT movie BTW.

  • I am currently collecting the bond films. I have 13 of them, I haven't been able to find for your eyes only yet. Bond films are awesome though.

  • todays bond movies suck completely

they just cant afford the old handmade quality anymore....

  • @Pnoerre dude ik. the old ones are sooo much better. the soundtracks fit much more beter just like this song made moonranker soooo much better. the soundtracks were great back then now adays theres no good soundtracks to fit teh new movies and make it more majestic.

  • majestetical score!!!

  • Hola, Preciosa, JAIME

  • Hola, Preciosa

  • Heres my top Bond theme songs: 1. Goldfinger-Shirley Bassey 2. From Russia with love-Matt Munroe 3. James Bond theme-John Barrey 4. Diamonds are forever-Shirley Bassey 5. You Only Live Twice-Nancy Sinatra 6. Moonraker-Shirley Bassey 7. A View to a Kill-Duran Duran 8. The Living Day Lights-A ha 9. Live and Let die-The Beatles 10. We're an all time high- Rita Coolidge
  • @tannerrox99 Good list, although personally I would take a few off it ;) Live and Let Die was performed by Paul McCartney and Wings, not the Beatles, and the theme to Octopussy is 'All Time High', not 'We're an all time high'.

  • @tannerrox99 dont forget sheena easton and and carly simon

  • I personally prefer this to the other two

Bassey Bond songs that were far more popular.

  • They're all good :) But Goldfinger and Moonraker are better than Diamonds Are Forever.

  • best bond song, roger moore is the best james bond, has the best bond films, and the best bond themes, this is the 2nd best, 1st being live and let die and then 3rd the man with the golden gun

  • Wonderful song and much better than the disco alternative they produced for the end credits.

  • on of the best theme song of all James Bond films

  • bassey knows how to sing a bond song, i reckon tina turner should sing a few and get john barry to write and compose them!!! just like the old days when the bond films and scores were great!!

  • althoug the film isn't realistic, I like it, and this song, too

  • its definetly the oddball of the series and the lasers were an obvious cah in on the star wars hype in 79' but still before i had see it i was curious about moonraker and i wasnt dissappointed when i got it on vhs

  • Comment removed

  • great video, really inspired / moved me.

  • Unbilivable and unforgettable voice, this theme to me is the best of all 007 movie's. And also that movie is the best.

  • Indeed absoloutly one of the best.

  • @WHITEORSE goldfinger was the best

  • This song was actually written for Johnny Mathis to sing, Sinatra was also asked to sing it, both had other commitments, Shirley Bassey was actually a very last minute replacement.

  • @celt67 Besides that she sings it much better than Mathis or Sinatra ever could.

  • So dreamy in every way.

  • Definitely prefer this to the other two she did. Lovely song!

  • Agreed. This is beautifully performed - not over the top and ever so slightly odd like the others 2 she did.

  • underbart,snyggt,vackert,80talet.

  • underbart vackert 70-tal.

  • FIrst Bond movie I saw in the cinema as a kid of 9. No idea how good the song was then but its a classic from the Dame.

  • This is the song that got me hooked on Shirley Bassey as a kid. As soon as the movie was over I had to rush right out and find the soundtrack and her other records.

  • I love this song, i get such a good feeling when im hearing it ~.~

  • i like the part. just like the moooooooooon racker !!!!! ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" its the best and im watching the movie while watching this to

  • Yes my all time fave bond theme, play it all the time. And its a common question on pub quizzes, "Who is the only artist to have done more than one Bond theme, how many and name them" mst people get two Goldfinger and diamonds, but forget this one.

  • Moonraker's theme song is my personal favorite Bond song. Shirley Bassey's performance was gorgeous! Shame that this brilliant movie was so underrated!

  • I still like "Diamonds are Forever", but "Moonraker" is a VERY close second.

  • this is the most beautifully composed james bond song ever

  • The most beautiful and exquisite theme to any of the James Bond movies ever orchestrated and performed. No one could sing the James Bond theme songs like Dame Shirley Bassey!

  • I remember I looooved this song when I was younger. It was so beauriful :D still like it, like the violin riff. haha

  • Dame Shirley's one of my ALL-TIME favorite female vocalists. I got introduced to her through some of the Bond films she sung in like most have been, but quickly found a treasure trove of material she had done throughout a remarkable career that has spanned nearly 50 years already. STILL goin' strong, too...

    ;-)

  • shirley bassey has few equals in the world of music. without her the bond mystique would not be the same.

  • The bests:

    1st:Sean

    2nd:Roger

    3rd:Pierce

  • Beautiful, beautiful music. Also very underrated I think.Stands comparison with much loftier compositions in my opinion.

  • Ohhhhhh this is soooo beautiful and haunting and one of my favourite Bond theme songs!!

  • Truly one of my personal favorite Bond films and music themes...it's not hard to remember that there was an epic space battle. U.S. marines and Drax's troops fighting with ice blue lazors...

  • Such a haunting song!!

  • AN AMAZING VOICE to a great Bond theme! Dame Shirley is the BEST!

  • i won't be happy until there is a song composed for Bond and Beyonce sings it. But it has to be something that is composed and played by an orchestra or something.

  • good book, good movie, good song

  • In the early days, the movies equalled John Barry's scores, they were as epic and beautiful as the sounds. Later on John Barry's themes and incidental music alone kept the dream of Bond alive when the images themselves became increasingly garish and tacky.

The majestic, epic sweep of his Bond vision would again add grace to Daniel Craig's brooding adult interpretation.

Barry has influenced our understanding of Bond every bit as much as Fleming.

  • The most intelligent and beautifull comment I´ve ever read or heard about a movie soundtrack!

I apologize for quoting you for the next 30-40 years to impress women at parties :-D

  • @WhoDoYouWant I mostly agree, but I don't think the scores are any different with Craig's entries. David Arnold's single best score is in TND, and since then he's been repeating himself over and over. He's bland, plain and simple.

  • @IamConnorMacLeod I guess my point was that David Arnold isn't John Barry. I'd like to see the original Bond composer return to oversee the sounds and moods of this present Bond. People will mimic Barry, and sure enough Arnold has tried in his way, but Barry knows the character like no other living soul. He'd love the dramatic scope of Craig's darker presence.

  • @WhoDoYouWant I'd have liked him to return to one of Brosnan's entries, myself. He'd have been ideal for GoldenEye.

  • @WhoDoYouWant

    Bravo! Bravo!!!

  • @WhoDoYouWant Exactly.

  • @WhoDoYouWant You mean James Blond.

  • @WhoDoYouWant Thanks for your careful and excellent analysis of John Barry's epic title themes. I've often thought how Barbara Brocolli and Michael Wilson made poor choices in selecting "rock" and "pop" bands and singers that unfortunately bastardized the purity of the essence of Bond romantic opening themes. Maybe they'll just kill the series once and for all!

  • I am a big fan of James Bond movies and their scores but this one Monraker for me in my personal prefference is my favourite of them all and even one of my favourite songs in general

  • Such beautiful lyrics!

    This song deserves more recognition!

  • The depth of this theme is unmistakeable, classic John Barry time-honored magic.

  • gives me goose bumps

  • This song moves me:-) thanks for posting

  • Very distinctive John Barry sound - he wrote some great film scores.

  • Beautiful song!!

    Great movie!!

  • gr8 movie indeed and a beautiful song

  • i love this song when ever i listen to it i cry sometimes

  • Shut up

  • this song is very good but half the time it makes me fall asleep when i listen to it

  • This is terrific!

  • This is original version

  • thank you SO much i've been looking 4 the non-disco version
