wow very catchy and can be made with made up, homegrown lines very easily. probably a great freestyle campfire song. only thing i can think of like this from today would be "because i got high" from afroman...lol
This was a major earworm all day but could not remember all the words. I remember singing this as a little guy around 55-60 years ago. I love this stuff, even though I had a really messed up childhood, these nostalgic things can still rake up some good stuff--like I said, "I love it"!!! :>)
Actually, It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo' #2 (Victor 19501-A, from 1925, has BOTH choruses) There is also It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo' (Victor 19171-A from 1923), and it has the same chorus as this one.
The only other Victor version I can find in my little index are two recorded July 29, 1925 - It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo', Victor 19886-A (which looks like a re-recording of 19171) and It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo' #2, Victor 19890-A (which looks like a re-recording of 19501). What version is this?
There were so many words to this song: Oh I took My girl out golfing, We had a lot of fun, She wore Her new silk stockings and, She got a hole in one.
Hall made many records for Brunswick, this is an early Brunswick electric recording. Brunswick used an early electric recording system that was developed by General Electric. Sometimes a bit harsh but was very good after a few changes. I believe Columbias early electrics to be the best, they used the Western Electric system. Edison made electric recordings for only a short time at the end.
Gee, I used to sing a version of this all the time when I was a kid, except the main idea was "how in the heck can you wash your neck if it ain't gonna rain no more"...
How the heck can can i wash my neck if it ai'nt gunna rain no more
A rich man drives a catalac, a poor man drives a ford, well my girl drives a donkey and she beats it with a board!

Oh. My. Goodness. This brings me back memories of my parents and grandparents singing this song but with different lyrics:
It ain't gonna rain, no more, no more,
It ain't gonna rain no more,
How in the heck do you wash your neck,
It ain't gonna rain, no more, no more.
Now it's a full-blown earworm! LOL!!! XD

Lots more inventive than that "99 bottles of beer" song for roadtrips...'course we can't share **all** the verses with a family viewership, v. ;)

@RReady555 MY NAUGHTY VERSION:
I was horney as hell, thought i`d ring her bell so i lubed up my old cock!
But it turned out she was a transvestite, hung like a cinder block!
Oh, I ain`t gonna fuck that stinking whore,
not even for free drinks!
Cause i`ve learned my lesson bout men and women from the song Lola by The Kinks!
