Wow! This infomercial single-handedly galvanized my love of the 80s as a teenager in the 90s. I still have the 6 CD set. Greatest 80s collection of all time! I taped the whole half-hour special on VHS, & watched it endlessly until my parents bought it for my birthday months later. Pretty much had every line & song sequence memorized. I don't apologize.
I never wanted to leave this glorious world that Nina Blackwood opened up for me, in the early AM hours. What a find!
@Ladywit2 The first half of the 80s was a great time, but nothing compares to the greatness of the 70s. The music, tv shows, clothing, and hair don't hold a candle to the 70s.
@michio Yeah but I have a Quadraphonic Headset from the 70s that have 2 speakers on the left and 2 on the right with 2 1/4" plugs one for Front Channels and 1 for Back Channels.
Just to comment again.. I totally disagree with people saying the 90s are about to come back when they just died NOW lmao. Grunge influenced Creed ripoff bands and hip hop has recently declined and electronic music (like Owl City) has gotten big in the last year or so.
p.s. 1ralph11 - that song is "867-5309 Jenny" by Tommy Tutune
OMG, I'm so glad to see this again. I have a little bit on tape from 1995. It's cool to see the 80s from that perspective, and what's funny is, with downloading and youtube, or even tons more compilation cds, these songs are super easy to find now!
The best thing about 80's music is the range of different types of music, throughout the decade that were successful. I mean you had New Wave, Rock Ballads, Hair Metal, and Mainstream Pop and it was ALL GREAT!
Unlike today's music which all sounds the same. All computer enhanced vocals and beats.
@baddog7676 Only the first half of the 80s was great. Then it steadily went downhill. The 80s were never as diverse as the 70s. New wave, rock ballads, metal, punk, funk, techno-pop, pop-rock, soft rock, and rap were all carried over into the early 80s from the 70s.
@chroniclerofthe70s Agreed I was just about to say that, but if you listen to the 80s music and cruise down 183 from Spicewood Springs to 620 in Northwest Austin you would still think your living in the 1980s. I think freewayjim has camera footage of freeways on here.
the only reason 80s music was considered better than 90s music is because 80s music is being remembered nostalgically at the moment but when 2010 arrives, 90s music is going to get that same exposure of being remembered. just wait and see
Hardly, you can't even compare the decades. People look back on the 80's nostalgically, because there was a plethora of things to look back on, music aside. The 90's, though there was some great music, and of course Nirvana ushered in "Grunge" and Pearl Jam made plaid flannels cool nationwide, the nostalgia factor is not even in the same stratosphere, not remotely. There was also some fantastic hip hop going on in the early mid-90's, but the confluence of things happening in the 80's- unrivaled!
i understand the 80s music era was known for it's superabundance just like the 70s, but no matter which decade was better, pop cultural media outlets such as radio and VH1 are going to look back on 90s music for most of 2010-2019
You must like watching classic CD infomercials and commercials. Keep posting more, heck even tape more and post them here. Especially post the Time Life ones.

It is true that 80's music was way better than 90's music, which was totally the pits. (Hootie? Nooooo!!!)
[IMHO, of course..., so please no flames. Rebuttals are welcome.]
