@TheAlmightyJod Good comments mate. Can I just ask why a person would be going "too far" if they said there is "no God"? Do you mean atheists who wouldn't be open to accepting evidence of a God?
@skyrock100 I merely mean that saying there is absolutely 100% nothing out there that could be called a God is going too far because that would be making a claim, and for that claim to be true they would have to justify it with evidence.
Why is it that in order for something to be true it has to GIVE you something, it has to, in some way, be beneficial to you? How amazingly arrogant, and self centered. What does the theory of gravity offer you? And no, lack of belief isn't a deluded framework, even if a god of some type does exist because lack of belief isn't a position that is being put forward, it's a rejection of the position put forward by someone else.
I do't know any atheist that would claim "truth" in atheism. Atheism isn't a belief system. It doesn't offer rules, dogma, philosophy, ideas, way to live, anything like that, because it's not meant to. Atheism is a reactionary position to theism. Atheism is just basically saying "I don't accept the 'evidence' of a God(s) as true evidence, so I don't accept the claimed God(s)" (soft atheism) or "given the lack of evidence of God(s) I believe there is ultimately no God(s)" *hard atheism). Thats it
There's two options: He to some dumb atheists, or he misunderstood them. To say that Atheism is the truth is really to shoot yourself in the foot, because now you're also making an positive assertion: There is definitely no god. As he said in the video, now he would be in the same position as a theist. To claim that is an insult to other atheists. We don't claim to KNOW there is no god, we just cannot find any reason to believe that there is - there's a major difference.
Wow. Smug, condescending, and profoundly wrong. That's quite a combination. You have a couple of major logical fallacies in your argument, but I suspect you don't care. First, truth is not dependent on God. Truth is when a belief aligns with reality. Second, what a belief has to offer has no effect on whether it is true. If you protect pleasant, false beliefs and block unpleasant, true ones, that's fine but it hardly puts you on the intellectual high ground. Your arrogance is misplaced.
what does "salvation" mean anyways? you try to fool people and yourself with these meaningless "positive" words, youre like a neverending commercial on tv. if you believe that theres a god that created the world you should at least be interested in IT, not just in whats written (by people) in some dusty old book that isnt more magic than other books. be interested in the world, see how there are components and order and patterns. dont be caught up in your amazing rewards.
OK... Lot's of books offer stuff. Books on evolution offer knowledge. Books on physics offer knowledge. Books on math offer knowledge. Books on business.. well I think you get the point. Knowledge is power. Faith is not. Faith makes you feel better. Applied knowledge solves problems and improves our humanity.
Your faith, your christianity, is what offers nothing. It prevents you from everything beneficial, if you actually believed it. It is clear you do not.
All your videos seem to offer nothing other than inane ramblings, along with a cold, vacant stare..............religion is nothing more than wishful thinking for scared, brain-dead sheep..........
what does atheism has to offer? freedom of religious fallacies! i don't have a prob with religion, i have a problem with how it works. religious peope have dogmas, atheists don't. religious people claim to know the truth. atheists claim to look for truth and work on it and know sometimes it's just part of it what they find. religious people claim they'r right based on stone age books, atheists do'nt claim they're right, they claim to get a step closer to truth
It's hard to credit this video when you misrepresent the atheistic perspective within the first minute. Either you've been talking to atheists who don't fully understand their own position (definitely possible), or you've chosen to misrepresent atheists on purpose. I tend to believe it's the former because you seem sincere enough, but you should investigate other definitions of atheism and perhaps make some corrections. (If you have already corrected this in later videos, I apologize.)
look at all those dislikes. and you cant even like comments? religion is just a way to control people into believing that something out there exists and there is no proof that it even exists...ignorant/crazy people are religious. you shouldnt have some invisible man running your life.
@GrayFox3690 By definition "religion is a system of beliefs" Well that would mean that atheism by definition is a religion. Is not atheism a system of beliefs? Well that would make it a religion! A godless religion, but a religion nonetheless! Or, Is the Dictionary no longer a creditable source for understanding the meaning and the usage of words anymore! Well back to your statement {religion is just a way to control people}-Likewise, atheism is a idea that seek to control people's thinking.
@brothersamuel100 no, its a rejection of an idea that doesnt make sense. that doesnt make it a "system". nobody bases their lives on the fact (well I say fact but you can never be sure of course) that there is no santa claus coming round with presents, etc etc etc etc. its just a question what you think plausible based on your experiences. why do I have to tell you that?
@frilansspion I see we have a play on words here! Ideas, beliefs, whats the difference? Ideas and beliefs are one and the same. As i said before, By definition "religion is a system of beliefs (ideas)" ---Consisting of! As i said before, that would mean that atheism by definition is a religion (a system of ideas or beliefs). We can argue on the meaning of words forever. But you and me both employ the Dictionary. I guess the dictionary is no longer creditable! why do I have to tell you that?
@brothersamuel100 play on words? why? Im not saying I dont HAVE a system of beliefs, or that atheists in general dont. Atheism just means disbelief in a (personal) god or gods, it doesnt say anything else. Look up "system" as well. And you can poke around in the dictionary all you want, "religion" still means a pretty specific thing (to me). If it means "worldview" or something to you thats fair enough, but thats not what it means to, I dare say, most people. It doesnt really matter anyways.
@frilansspion And BTW was addressing GrayFox3690 statement (religion is just a way to control people into believing that something out there exists and there is no proof that it even exists...ignorant/crazy people are religious. you shouldnt have some invisible man running your life) My point was made, By definition "religion is a system of beliefs or ideas" Well that would mean that atheism by definition is a religion. Is not atheism a system of beliefs or ideas? That makes it a religion!
@frilansspion If a person chooses not to believe in God or the Bible it is there choice and that should be respected, Well likewise, if we choose to believe, we should be respected as well! Not made out to be dummies because we do! I don't have a problem with people not believing in God, if that's what they choose not to believe! I have discovered that there are a lot of smart people that believe in God and a lot of smart people that don't. Good day Sir.
@brothersamuel100 there are many reasons why Id care: youtube.com/user/imrational#p/u/5/w4fQA9mt-Mg
youre saying religion doesnt influence us all? Im sorry if you feel personally hounded and attacked...but so does people who think otherwise. and have been through history. the churches havent exactly been making advances with morals and science through the ages- quite the opposite! what little ground of common sense we do have today is because of long battles...
@GrayFox3690 That would atheist ... by on your own words, ignorant/crazy people because they are religious too ... who likewise what to control people's thinking. Remember now by definition "religion is a system of beliefs" Well that would mean that atheism by definition is a religion. Good luck with that godless religion that offers it's followers nothing!!!!
All religion is bogus and bad for humanity. It poisons peoples minds and influences the decisions that they make. If we believe absurdities, we will commit atrocities......9-11....norway bombing....greedy televangelists....the inquisitions....mormon pedophilia....david coresh....jim jones.....the list goes on and on. These are reasons why people need to see that religion is bogus, fictional, delusional and HARMFUL.
God offers "salvation" which you only need because the same god condemned you to death. The price of that "salvation" is according to the bible abject slavery to Jesus for eternity.
atheism offers freedom from the eternal torments that the great god cluthu will deal out to the followers of the wrong gods. Atheists who give a small nod to the flyting spaghetti monster, the invisible pink unicorn or the tooth fairy will get a slight nod from cluthu when they pass buy on the way to the beer volcano .
That depends on what you value. If you do not value truth above abolution, then it offers you nothing. Atheism gives you the freedom to know that you are part of a bigger picture, not the bigger picture. That the wonders of everything, while some understood, and others not, are amazing.
Lastly, it offers you the opportunity to explore what there is, instead of the dogma of what will come.
its funny how when you ask that question Jack and some people respond saying that it is a ridiculous question. All it says to me is that they refuse to critique their new found point of view ( assuming that they used to believe in God of course. )
It is a ridiculous question. Why? Because atheism is nothing more than the rejection of belief in the existence of a god or gods. Nothing more, nothing less. So to ask what atheism offers is just plain stupid.
I was a believer for 55 years, and discovered so man falicies in and amond the faith, I searched for truth and found no vas;idy or truth. but ,amy lies therein, and have happily gotten out of it. I could never go back. Peace
Its funny, but atheists never ask that question about a religion, we don't ask what does *insert religion* has to offer. Did you check all the religions and what they have to offer before plumping for christianity? I doubt it. Whatever they offer means shit if its wrong. If i offered you a million dollars to convert, to be given to you after you die you would rightly turn me down. a: because i might not pay up and b: you wouldn't be able to use it. The same applies to salvation. Yet you believe.
@TogetherForPeace I think your misinformed of what an atheist is as a whole. No, I don't want you to convert, if that will only make you unhappy, but if your ideals were causing some form of harm to someone(you don't like my religion! die!) then yea I would step in(of course this is not the case with you, or religion as a whole, but a specific set of individuals).
Also "you live and you die"=atheist. This is untrue as well. What about everything in between? Discovery, love, emotions, progress?
Was christianity has to offer? Well... im not sure if anything ever in the whole history of mankind killed more people then religion. Religion is just bullshit and it makes me sad to see so many people believe in this inconsistent crap.
Atheism offers plenty. Atheism offers science, machinery, futuristic technology, and without it we wouldn't have the knowledge of the physical universe we have today. In one's personal life, atheism offers personal responsibility and understanding of the world around the person, as well as interest in an academic place and to live life to its fullest. I won't deny that Christianity offers things to people's lives, but for some people it just doesn't cut it.
I thought that the possibility to live your life free of irrational rules and basically giving the moral high ground of being a proper human without having a deity to punish you would be enough of a reward. Religion does have much offer, in the way of wars, discrimination, hypocrisy and so on.
@costa200 Stalin was an Atheist,, what about his mass genocides and wars he starts. Hitler was also an Atheist what about his mass wars and extreme idelas of darwinism. polpot also an atheist and his mass genocide and wars. Atheist cause more wars and more mass genocides than any other war in History. Don't flag your bullshit about and expect not a quick rebuttle on your ignorance to be applied
@LordEli You don't know what you're talking about, Hitler certainly was not an atheist. you're full of crap. About stalin, why don't blame what he did on his christian education? Big moral standpoint there, with all the wars you started all over the world. The main difference is that nobody as ever started wars because of atheism. Can you say the same about your religions?
@LordEli Plus, on stalin, he just didn't like organized religion. He wrote: "But people who forgot GOD, with darkness in their hearts, instead of wine served poison to him in the cup." So suck on that bible thumper.
@costa200 Oh don't even try that Bullshit Stalinw as a WELL known Atheist and it's well DOCUMENTED HE SAID HIMSELF HE DID NOT BELIEVE IN GOD He was DEEP into the Evolutionary BULLSHIT! Try again Atheist you attempt at Propaganda did not avail you!
@LordEli Well known to whom? that stalin soundbyte is generally used by theists that know little of the real story behind the monster Stalin. In fact he at a time was about to be a priest... Imagine that. He was born and raised as christian and later cut ties with organized religion. And about darwinism you couldn't be more wrong. Google Lysenkoism and investigate what stalin actually thought about darwinism. Not that it matters to this discussion anyway.
@costa200 He was an Atheist simple Fat kid. give up, because Your obvious Ignorance will not change the facts deal with it. and move on. as I am going to do now from this useless argument do to you not wanting to accept the facts and the truth that your Stalin was an Atheist, as Hitler was an Atheist and countless of MASS GENOCIDLE Murderers were in FACT ATHEIST! And child grow up You can not deny history! Nor the facts he was an ATHEIST!
@LordEli Clearly you are far too immature to accept truth. Understand that religion causes wars; not pissed off atheists. If you can't do this simple task, then get off the internet.
@Xreaper2070 No moron, tis you whoma re too immature to accept the true that PEOPLE Cause wars, Not their religions or their beliefs in deities. That shows me you are brainwashed by the Atheist propagandists. "Religion" doesn'rt cause war particular those like Christianity which teaches to love thy neighbor as you would yourself and respect their beliefs. You obviously need to read more of that which you are intolerant of.
@LordEli Yes, people cause wars; no, they do not fight over nothing. The vast majority of wars are started by the collision of religions, and though Christianity attempts to teach its followers "love thy neighbor", very seldom do they stay true to that particular request. You are a perfect example, for you clearly do not love me, now do you? It is you who needs to read more of what they are intolerant of. Do you not know that atheist nations are more peaceful? Clearly you do not.
@Xreaper2070 Kid you don't know what youa re talking about, the Leading cause for wars is ALWAYS! Over land and disputes for rights to rule the others countries that is ALWAYS The leading cause. The Atheist propagandists always blame it on other religious folks such as Christian's, because atheists love to attackt he Christian chuch. its called mud flinging. the Atheists caused just as many wars in history as any other religion but however Killed more people in their wars than any other as well
@LordEli Do you know a single thing? Have you researched anything? The leading cause of wars is religion, and always has been, and religion has caused the nastiest wars of all time (i.e. WWII; a war not fought over rights of land). Even when we fight over land, it's to spread our religion to that land. What wars have atheists caused? Care to back yourself up there? No, atheists have not caused wars with more deaths (refer back to WWII). You, sir, are the mudslinger; I am being factual.
@Xreaper2070 WWII was initially about land, with germany annexing austria and then pressing their claims on sudetenland a largely german speaking part of czechoslovakia. After they were allowed that they then invaded the rest of czechoslovakia before moving on to poland when britain and france said enough is enough and declared war. It was not a religious war, the mass killings of the holocaust began in 1941, and was not the reason the war was fought. Having said this lordeli is a total dick.
@Xreaper2070 The most important thing you kids should learn is Not to be fooled by Atheist's and their propaganda nor their religious bullshit such as evolution Nonsense for thats been debunked a billion times, as well as Atheist claims of being the only freethinkers and logical thinks. all that is complete BULLSHIT! As Logic, Reason and Freethinkings been around long before Atheism and will be around long after they become "Extinct" ha ha
@LordEli What a pity; I ask for debate and you give me childish insults. Evolution has not been debunked. The theory will have future amends, however. No, atheists are not the only free thinkers. Atheism allows it, however. Atheism does not claim to have created logic; atheism was created by logic, allowing free thinking in the logics of the universe. Atheism will not go "extinct". At the fine rate it grows, I won't deny that atheism appears destined to become a large part of the media.
You're arguing that there are two types of atheist--those that respectfully believe in nothing, and those that try to convert. But how is that different from any religion? Every religion has both of those type of people...and this adamant behavior does not reflect upon their belief system but rather the person's morals.
Also, the point of the video that you are responding to is that Atheism offers the truth to those that believe its the truth--just as religion does for theists.
only because christianity offers nice illusions doesn't make it right. in my opinion atheism offers a realistic world view. and whats wrong with that? :)
I'm Agnostic and I disagree with you. However, that being said you put across your point of view reasonably and without rancor so you have my respect. We can agree to disagree.
Its hard to offer something when your only criteria is non-belief. Atheist don't pray, we don't worship, we simply do not believe in supernatural bullshit.
what does atheism have to offer is not really a valid question. You should ask something more meaningful like, what does ethics or philosophy have to offer, because atheists do subscribe to these.
Why provoke a debate about the belief or lack there of? An honest atheist will admit that they cannot prove ambiogenisis just as an honest Christian, Muslim, Jew, Intelligent design theorist will admit they cannot prove the universe and life were created by God. Engaging in a debate where neither side can prove they are right is a pointless waste of time.
Atheism is not an assertion that there are no gods. An atheist might assert such a thing, but atheism is fundamentally a lack of belief in gods, not a denial that they could exist.
I don't understand the point of the video. What something has to offer should never be the basis for believing whether it is true or not.
If either theist or atheist are making the argument of what something has to offer as their basis for believing, both are victims of the gimmicks used to lure believers into their ideology.
What does atheism offer? Absolutely nothing. But, then again, atheism promises nothing. What does Christianity offer? Absolutely nothing. But then, Christianity promises you a personal relationship with the universe creator, protection against evil ( if you pray just right), the ability to cure yourself from disease, and a one way ticket to paradise. Oh yeah, Christianity tells you that someone in the sky loves you. LOL....I think I'll stick with Atheism. It's a just a wee bit more honest.
I dunno Atheism offers realistic rational thought to be accepted. Your not ridiculed for questioning the god of a 2000 year old book written by bronze age goat herders. Your not taught hate and bigotry. Your not taught that killing is wrong except when its done in the lords name. Thats snakes are animals and not a reptilian apple salesman. That whales can act as motels for people named Jonah. That smacking a burnt dead rock dove off your house can cure leprosy.
I am founding a new religion in which I promise that if you believe in my god when you die you'll live in a constant state of orgasm. It'll be like your god's paradise times 10. Will you join me? I'm promising a better future.
Now seriously, because atheism doesn't give you that warm happy feeling it doesn't mean it's wrong. that's dumb.
Well - while you have every right to your delusion and your belief in a magical sky-daddy (thanks to you being born to Christian parents)... At least you are applying almost rational thought to the atheist mentality... That is more than I can say for the 'moral majority' as they are self-proclaimed... lol
Christianity offers salvation. In fact, Christianity makes up the whole need for salvation. Atheism absolves us of the need for salvation. Atheism - WIN. Christianity - FAIL. EX-TER-MI-NATE!
christianity offers EXACTLY THE SAME as atheism apart from christianity has the added bonus of people being able to do terrible things in the name of their god.
A TEST
1 - name one single good thing that religious people can do that atheists cannot?
answer is nothing, in positives they are equal.
atheism scientifically advances the human race for our survival.
religious people can murder & commit terrible crimes for their religion!
why are believers always focusing on some kind of reward later on? do you really think you are ALWAYS entitled to receive some kind of "present?" what is with the selfishness? just live a decent life, & treat people nice WITHOUT expecting some kind of recognition or gift in return. do you realize how childish that sounds? i'll never understand why being a good person on your own is not good enough, you have to have a "god" tell you what to do & it has to involve some kind of "gift." sickening...
Atheism doesn't directly offer anything, because atheism isn't any kind of ideology. Atheism is a conclusion to other ways of thought in relation to ones own personal experiences. I'm an atheist, but I totally understand your frustration with certain atheists, it is a frustration I share. Indirectly, however, calling myself an atheist forces me to look into psychology, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, non religious ideologies, etc. For me its a question of probabilities. take care.
@Togetherforpeace First off let me say that I'm not asking your view of this to change your mind on anything, I'm merely curious what you think of it sine you seem to be a pretty reasonable guy. There are several religions that were known to exist centuries before Abrahamic religions like Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, ancient Egyptian religion and pagan worship . What does this pre-Judeo-Christian gap in human history mean to Judeo-Christian religions? Continued in comment below.
@x60mmx Accepting that God is very real and very engaged in our lives but also demanding that we respect him as the one true God how can this gap be reasoned? Does it posit that God finds far more religions and their ways of worshipping God acceptable than we'd like to think/have been told? Does it mean that he left humans without knowledge of their true God for quite some time? Looking forward to your response and I hope you have a great day! :)
Atheism isn't a religion it's the belief in no God... thats it, theres no bible, no prophets, and no stories. thats all i have to say you just can't win with religious people, so let the mass muder continue, tax ivasion continue, rape continue, let the battle insue. no point in trying to reason... just don't question why the worlds fucked up and wait for your god. i just hope your living your god's word. - Theathiestinthefoxhole
its so naive to even talk about something like that.. why would you even say that? "so let the mass muder continue" "rape continue"
are you actually saying that if religion didnt exist these things would perish? you want to get rid of something thats teaching its followers to NOT do those things.. without a God people wouldnt have a reason to do anything they want..
people will rape and murder no-matter what state the world is in.. its easier to break an egg than to repair it.
Atheism is not an assertion it's just a lack of religious belief or a belief in a deity, some people are more concerned about believing in something that is actually true rather than what they're being offered. Atheists aren't trying to sell you something they're just not buying anything from you.
If we are going to chose our personal beliefs based on what is offered to us for believing in them, then I'm going to start a "church" that offers icecream and cake. Should be successful.
@Gahuki44 lol ok so............basically u trying to say, u make ur own rules and that ur God. can i ask u something? what will happen to u after u die? u think u have no soul? when u die, its like u jus woke up from a dream. u have another 300,000 years to go. u think this life is everything? it takes 70 yrs while ur falling to hell. u would throw someone u dearly love, to hell......to save urself from it.
"this life is like a ripple of the ocean..........the ocean is the afterlife"
@FuckDaMedia I don't think I'm some kind of god. I don't kno what will happen after I die, but I'm not too concerned. If God would throw me into the pits of Hell simply for not bowing down 2 him then he's not the type of person I'd want 2 spend eternity w/ anyway. I do everything I can 2 be a good person & if that's not enough then I don't kno what 2 say.
All my life people have told me to accept Jesus, so he can protect me from what he will do to me if I dont accept him. I will bow to no "God" who offers salvation through extortion. Atheism is logic! No wonder the preachers call their congregation a flock!
Amen on this video. Youtube is just a hangout for Atheist trolls. You can look at the majority of videos posted by atheist and see very few Christian trolls, but look here and you see flocks of Atheist trolls. They are hypocrits.....They say Christians are consistantly preaching but atheist are consistantly preaching their nonsense.
Just shut up. Religion is obsolete now. It was useful when the intelligent needed to keep the stupid in line, but now governments are minimally influenced by religion. Plus religion repudiates all that has led to human advancement; namely science and technology. I longer have any patience for religious fools. You people are burden on society and a disgrace to the human species.
You talk about what "Christianity has to offer" at the beginning of this video. You mention a number of things, but, these are the same things offered by ALL religions, so, why did you select Christianity? If you say that "All those other religions are false", then why isn't Christianity false? How could you be so lucky as to pick out the one true religion of all those 1000's of religions?
Did you do research? Did you ask for facts? Did you prove unequivocally that Christianity is the only true one?
@PaulinaPaulino You make a good point but think about this. If you asked a Muslim if what they believe is the only truth, aren't they gonna say ya, it is? Even Atheists, even though it's not a religion, believe strongly in what they do. If you're believe in something you should believe it's the truth, otherwise there is no point in fighting for it.
@TokyoDiimond I do not "strongly believe in what I do" based upon a book written 1700 years ago when the combined knowledge of the authors was that the Universe, which was 6000 years old and consisted of little fires in the sky, revolved around the earth, which was flat.
Now, show me the part of the Bible, or Koran, or any other holy book, that explains how the sun is powered by nuclear fusion and I will look at it differently.
I "believe strongly" because everything I claim I can PROVE.
I was free--free to think, to express my thoughts--free to live my own ideal, free to live for myself and those I loved, free to use all my faculties, all my senses, free to spread imagination's wings, free to investigate, to guess and dream and hope, free to judge and determine for myself . . . I was free! I stood erect and fearlessly, joyously faced all worlds."
"When I became convinced that the universe is natural, that all the ghosts and gods are myths, there entered into my brain, into my soul, into every drop of my blood the sense, the feeling, the joy of freedom. The walls of my prison crumbled and fell. The dungeon was flooded with light and all the bolts and bars and manacles became dust. I was no longer a servant, a serf, or a slave. There was for me no master in all the wide world, not even in infinite space.
I don't understand the point in this video, you are hypothetically asking a question, hypothetically giving the answers that you think you would have heard and then hypothetically arguing with the positions taken by your made up friends with made up answers, all made up by you, you are arguing your own point against a postition you have completely made up, I don't see the sense in this at all
With a Christian upbriinging, I'm taught that this makes me a bad person.
Atheists offer me a form of salvation.
People to me are more important than the supernatural, and atheist people accept me as a non believer, who can still be trusted, and who is still a good person.
Atheism isn't even a religion, so why are you comparing it with a religion? Atheism is just a word for 'I don't buy into any religion'. Actually atheism doesn't offer anything so you're right. But it doesn't have to offer anything. It just an attitude in life based on science. And I think it's science which offers you many things. Also religion doesn't have a monopoly on morality. It doesn't have a monopoly on love and friendship either. Religion offers you a story from an old book, nothing more
@1776iscoming correction, it is a relationship with your belief in God, for instance I believe there is a god I feel that there is a higher intelligence, yet I refuse to find a connection to him in any book, I have always felt from a young age that the books are simply a tool to get humanity to act and behave in a certain way, so ihave a relationship with my belief in god without the book, do you see the difference?
So you are making your own god to worship or creating an idol to worship. No offense, but that is exactly what atheism attempts to do, pretend that God does not exist because His moral standard offends you. But, I just want you to understand, when you stand before the loving God who offered you salvation, who took His own wrath so you wouldn't have to, there will be no excuse for not knowing Him and rejecting Him. I've been where you are man, thank God that He drew me near to HIm.
@1776iscoming With respect to the idols and false prophets thing, when you go to church do you or do you not bow before statue of christ? Do catholics not bow before statues of Mary? These figures/entities whatever you want to call them are placed on church walls, stain glass windows and the like, if it is the bible you follow, it clearly states that you should not make images of god and/or bow before and pray to them yet churches all over the world cast this fact aside, why?
I'm with you man, I'm not Catholic, I'm a Christian. In fact, my cousin had her wedding in a Catholic church and the rituals of kneeling in front of a statue of Mary turned my stomach. The Catholic church has made idols out of just about every person mentioned in the bible, I don't consider them to be a Christian denomination.
@1776iscoming But the cross is the same thing bro, it is still an idol or a depiction of God which has always been forbidden, I also struggle to find the loving god in the bible, there was no love when God tricked Abraham into sacrificing his 1st born and where was the forgiveness when he sent the plagues? or killed all the first born of those who didn't paint the door with lambs blood? The story of Noah is a story of pure unloving genocide, although i accept god, i cannot accept this depiction
I don't worship the cross either, I do have one hanging in my home, just as a reminder of what God did for me. Abraham didn't sacrifice His son, God tested Him, but told Him not to. This was a also a foreshadowing of the cross. If you read the OT, every people that God destroyed were given the opportunity to repent, including the Egyptians. God's judgement is just in both the NT and OT, He just doesn't wipe out civlizations for no reason.
@1776iscoming First you need to educate yourself about what a religion is, ATM you clearly don't understand that aspect. Therefore my advice to you is to read, read, and then read some more. And BTW a relationship with a myth isn't a relationship but is called insanity.
@1776iscoming Thank you for praying for me, although I believe it is a waste of time, it still proves you care about others, which is always a good thing in life.
I love Jesus Christ! And im glad to see these videos! I think there is really no point in arguing with aetheists..its better to just educate them on how to reach the Lord. and then letting them go and experiencing it themselves. but again Im glad to see that there are people fighting for the truth! and im disgusted how many dislikes there are...but then again there are more non believers.ugh.sigh
Atheists get their morality from either philosophers, ideologues or just be making up their own mind rationally. For example, many atheists will agree that a correct moral attitude is to treat others as you'd consider fair if you were in their shoes. They find comfort not in some imaginary big daddy in the sky but in the idea that their beliefs are rational and their life is meaningful to themselves and/or other.
Atheism offers a view on life and the universe based on REASON and EVIDENCE. To an atheist, it doesn't matter what is possible but only what is proven and makes sense logically. Atheists are aitheists because the Biblical God can easily be disproven and the proof of any other higher intelligence is lacking.
Lol I hope my comment here isn't too redundant as I hardly had time to read all those before mine. While believing in something that isn't true won't necessarily affect your life in any major way, belief in god usually does. It creates (usually) a system of values and judgements that are born out of a falsehood. By removing the belief in a falsehood (god) the non-believer has a chance to perceive reality as it exists. Hope that was helpful. :)
Here's what Atheism offers and what it did for me. As the son of a pastor, Christianity left me with more questions than answers. So for the last 30 years Ive studied religion and it's history.
Once I realized that all religion, including xtianity, is a load of crap, I felt a freedom that I never felt before. My mind was free from the chains of mental slavery that your religion brought.
I felt born again in a sense. Today I am a much happier person who is at peace in my life.
Atheism asserts nothing. You have no evidence that your sky daddy exists. Until you come up with some, then YOU shouldnt be asserting that this entity exists.
You are using an incorrect definition of atheism. Atheism is inherently without assertion. It is not the active disbelief in the existence of any God, by definition (although there are atheists who would make that assertion). Atheism is purely the lack of a belief in any god. The difference is, if you could provide conclusive evidence of God to an atheist, he/she would likely convert. If you provided conclusive evidence against God to a Christian, you would get denial and circular arguments.
well for starters we dont take joy in the thought of people going to some fiery hell. even if they did something evil i wouldnt take joy in them suffering for all eternity. even for hitler i feel the same. im comforted with him being dead. not with the idea that hes suffering
atheism has plenty to offer we dont believe in an after life so we know we should enjoy life now cos we only live once and theres nothing after death and we dont pretend to know how the universe was created so we have the joy of finding out and we can see earths beauty which generally is something afterlife believes lack and btw belief in god is an assertion dis-belief is not
Ok, christianity question, if Jesus is the son of god who came to die for our sins. What exactly is the big deal? he came here knowing exactly where he was going to go when he died (back to his golden throne room on a cloud where everyone sings his praises) so what exactly is the big achievement? Surely it would be more impressive if a regular man who didn't know what happens after death gave his life for us, that to me seems like more of a sacrifice
I'm not sure what "blaring inconsistency" you're referring to. That being said, all I can say is that the belief in god--strictly speaking--is not an "imaginary belief". It is a real, full fledged belief about something which doesn't exist. Atheists don't claim that beliefs in god don't exist ... they just don't share those particular beliefs. I don't see a problem there.
Atheism isn't an assertion of anything . Atheism is simply a lack of the blind belief in a god which is claimed by some people to exist without any real evidence.
Misrepresenting a non-acceptance of your devoutly held blind faith, isn't going to validate it for you in any way really.....now is it?
Honestly, the only reason you'd even ask this question is to start a fight or a violent debate in which YOU get to voice your opinions. "TogetherForPeace" my ass. If you don't want Atheism shoved down your throat, which I highly doubt it is, then don't ask Atheists to explain it. It's simple as that. I mean, I don't want to be a Christian. So, I don't ask about it. I leave them to their will. Let them believe. Stay on your side of the line and we'll stay on ours.
@hitchhikersHERO Yeah I gather you didn't even watch this video. Where in my video did I say atheism was being shoved down my throat? Oh that's right no where. Honestly the only reason I asked this question is because of my experiences with 'some' atheists. This is YouTube get used to it ...ppl ask questions that are not related to you. peace dude and chill
@TogetherForPeace I'm just trying to understand you. Honestly, I think you should focus more on your own religion than what's wrong with mine or someone else's. It would be nice to see you post videos about how your life is better for being a Christian. Or... how it makes you happy. Not how MY religion makes you unhappy. So find some peace in that and maybe I will chill.
@hitchhikersHERO Your comment doesn't present this idea of trying to 'understand.' My 'focus' is on discussion. I talk with people all the time and have done so on YouTube for 4-5 years now. I have videos about Christianity. My channel...my topic...my focus...not your channel...not your topics...not your focus. Next time you want to post a comment on my channel give me something more than whining. Use your head & give me a constructive response to what I say in the video.
"Next time you want to post a comment on my channel give me something more than whining."
This may be three months late, but that's hardly fair. The implication is that you don't want any whining on your channel. It's a tad ironic for you to say that considering a quite many of your videos are about you whining.
As for the uploader comments that are featured...is...is that a Strawman over there?
Hmm...Christianity does of course only offer those lovely warm fluffy things if you're actually, you know, right. Otherwise it offers false hope, lies, servitude to a flawed ideal and a divisive force in world politics.
Atheism offers nothing but the freedom to question the world openly, to come to terms with the realities of our situation on this earth and make the best use of our time here. Hell, if you have an eternity to chill in Paradise, what difference does 60 years on Earth matter?
That said, there are atheists out there that who go too far and say there IS NO God. In that case they are deluded if they are wrong.
Thank you for the video.
TheAlmightyJod 1 month ago
@TheAlmightyJod Good comments mate. Can I just ask why a person would be going "too far" if they said there is "no God"? Do you mean atheists who wouldn't be open to accepting evidence of a God?
skyrock100 1 month ago
@skyrock100 I merely mean that saying there is absolutely 100% nothing out there that could be called a God is going too far because that would be making a claim, and for that claim to be true they would have to justify it with evidence.
TheAlmightyJod 1 month ago
@TheAlmightyJod Ah okay. That's very true.
skyrock100 1 month ago
Why is it that in order for something to be true it has to GIVE you something, it has to, in some way, be beneficial to you? How amazingly arrogant, and self centered. What does the theory of gravity offer you? And no, lack of belief isn't a deluded framework, even if a god of some type does exist because lack of belief isn't a position that is being put forward, it's a rejection of the position put forward by someone else.
TheAlmightyJod 1 month ago
Belief in fairies may offer you comfort too, doesn't mean it's not retarded.
offwithurhead 1 month ago
I do't know any atheist that would claim "truth" in atheism. Atheism isn't a belief system. It doesn't offer rules, dogma, philosophy, ideas, way to live, anything like that, because it's not meant to. Atheism is a reactionary position to theism. Atheism is just basically saying "I don't accept the 'evidence' of a God(s) as true evidence, so I don't accept the claimed God(s)" (soft atheism) or "given the lack of evidence of God(s) I believe there is ultimately no God(s)" *hard atheism). Thats it
sadiew1990 1 month ago

Your arrogance is misplaced.

what does "salvation" mean anyways? you try to fool people and yourself with these meaningless "positive" words, youre like a neverending commercial on tv. if you believe that theres a god that created the world you should at least be interested in IT, not just in whats written (by people) in some dusty old book that isnt more magic than other books. be interested in the world, see how there are components and order and patterns. dont be caught up in your amazing rewards.
frilansspion 2 months ago

@0:54 - 1:00 "Atheism is an assertion that there is no god"

Atheism is the rejection of an assertion that god/gods exist.

what does atheism has to offer? freedom of religious fallacies! i don't have a prob with religion, i have a problem with how it works. religious peope have dogmas, atheists don't. religious people claim to know the truth. atheists claim to look for truth and work on it and know sometimes it's just part of it what they find. religious people claim they'r right based on stone age books, atheists do'nt claim they're right, they claim to get a step closer to truth

GrayFox3690 3 months ago
@GrayFox3690 By definition "religion is a system of beliefs" Well that would mean that atheism by definition is a religion. Is not atheism a system of beliefs? Well that would make it a religion! A godless religion, but a religion nonetheless! Or, Is the Dictionary no longer a creditable source for understanding the meaning and the usage of words anymore! Well back to your statement {religion is just a way to control people}-Likewise, atheism is a idea that seek to control people's thinking.
brothersamuel100 2 months ago
@brothersamuel100 no, its a rejection of an idea that doesnt make sense. that doesnt make it a "system". nobody bases their lives on the fact (well I say fact but you can never be sure of course) that there is no santa claus coming round with presents, etc etc etc etc. its just a question what you think plausible based on your experiences. why do I have to tell you that?
frilansspion 2 months ago
@frilansspion I see we have a play on words here! Ideas, beliefs, whats the difference? Ideas and beliefs are one and the same. As i said before, By definition "religion is a system of beliefs (ideas)" ---Consisting of! As i said before, that would mean that atheism by definition is a religion (a system of ideas or beliefs). We can argue on the meaning of words forever. But you and me both employ the Dictionary. I guess the dictionary is no longer creditable! why do I have to tell you that?
brothersamuel100 2 months ago
@brothersamuel100 play on words? why? Im not saying I dont HAVE a system of beliefs, or that atheists in general dont. Atheism just means disbelief in a (personal) god or gods, it doesnt say anything else. Look up "system" as well. And you can poke around in the dictionary all you want, "religion" still means a pretty specific thing (to me). If it means "worldview" or something to you thats fair enough, but thats not what it means to, I dare say, most people. It doesnt really matter anyways.
frilansspion 2 months ago
@frilansspion And BTW was addressing GrayFox3690 statement (religion is just a way to control people into believing that something out there exists and there is no proof that it even exists...ignorant/crazy people are religious. you shouldnt have some invisible man running your life) My point was made, By definition "religion is a system of beliefs or ideas" Well that would mean that atheism by definition is a religion. Is not atheism a system of beliefs or ideas? That makes it a religion!
brothersamuel100 2 months ago
@frilansspion If a person chooses not to believe in God or the Bible it is there choice and that should be respected, Well likewise, if we choose to believe, we should be respected as well! Not made out to be dummies because we do! I don't have a problem with people not believing in God, if that's what they choose not to believe! I have discovered that there are a lot of smart people that believe in God and a lot of smart people that don't. Good day Sir.

-
That depends on what you value.

I think both sides are pretty much useless.
Both atheists and theists, make the same mistakes we've been making since we first started to form groups (society)
Also, those people you talk about also exist within the theist community.
I think both ateism and theism offer nothing but chains.
Both claim the truth, even though we aren't even wise enough to ''live'' properly.
Most people live selfish lives, even those that seem not to.

Yet you believe.
redjove2000 5 months ago
@TogetherForPeace I think your misinformed of what an atheist is as a whole. No, I don't want you to convert, if that will only make you unhappy, but if your ideals were causing some form of harm to someone(you don't like my religion! die!) then yea I would step in(of course this is not the case with you, or religion as a whole, but a specific set of individuals).
Also "you live and you die"=atheist. This is untrue as well. What about everything in between? Discovery, love, emotions, progress?

Atheism offers plenty. Atheism offers science, machinery, futuristic technology, and without it we wouldn't have the knowledge of the physical universe we have today. In one's personal life, atheism offers personal responsibility and understanding of the world around the person, as well as interest in an academic place and to live life to its fullest. I won't deny that Christianity offers things to people's lives, but for some people it just doesn't cut it.

LordEli 5 months ago
@LordEli Yes, people cause wars; no, they do not fight over nothing. The vast majority of wars are started by the collision of religions, and though Christianity attempts to teach its followers "love thy neighbor", very seldom do they stay true to that particular request. You are a perfect example, for you clearly do not love me, now do you? It is you who needs to read more of what they are intolerant of. Do you not know that atheist nations are more peaceful? Clearly you do not.
Xreaper2070 5 months ago
@Xreaper2070 Kid you don't know what youa re talking about, the Leading cause for wars is ALWAYS! Over land and disputes for rights to rule the others countries that is ALWAYS The leading cause. The Atheist propagandists always blame it on other religious folks such as Christian's, because atheists love to attackt he Christian chuch. its called mud flinging. the Atheists caused just as many wars in history as any other religion but however Killed more people in their wars than any other as well
LordEli 5 months ago
@LordEli Do you know a single thing? Have you researched anything? The leading cause of wars is religion, and always has been, and religion has caused the nastiest wars of all time (i.e. WWII; a war not fought over rights of land). Even when we fight over land, it's to spread our religion to that land. What wars have atheists caused? Care to back yourself up there? No, atheists have not caused wars with more deaths (refer back to WWII). You, sir, are the mudslinger; I am being factual.
Xreaper2070 5 months ago
@Xreaper2070 WWII was initially about land, with germany annexing austria and then pressing their claims on sudetenland a largely german speaking part of czechoslovakia. After they were allowed that they then invaded the rest of czechoslovakia before moving on to poland when britain and france said enough is enough and declared war. It was not a religious war, the mass killings of the holocaust began in 1941, and was not the reason the war was fought. Having said this lordeli is a total dick.
redjove2000 5 months ago
@Xreaper2070 The most important thing you kids should learn is Not to be fooled by Atheist's and their propaganda nor their religious bullshit such as evolution Nonsense for thats been debunked a billion times, as well as Atheist claims of being the only freethinkers and logical thinks. all that is complete BULLSHIT! As Logic, Reason and Freethinkings been around long before Atheism and will be around long after they become "Extinct" ha ha
LordEli 5 months ago
@LordEli What a pity; I ask for debate and you give me childish insults. Evolution has not been debunked. The theory will have future amends, however. No, atheists are not the only free thinkers. Atheism allows it, however. Atheism does not claim to have created logic; atheism was created by logic, allowing free thinking in the logics of the universe. Atheism will not go "extinct". At the fine rate it grows, I won't deny that atheism appears destined to become a large part of the media.
Xreaper2070 5 months ago
You're arguing that there are two types of atheist--those that respectfully believe in nothing, and those that try to convert. But how is that different from any religion? Every religion has both of those type of people...and this adamant behavior does not reflect upon their belief system but rather the person's morals.
Also, the point of the video that you are responding to is that Atheism offers the truth to those that believe its the truth--just as religion does for theists.

Why provoke a debate about the belief or lack there of? An honest atheist will admit that they cannot prove ambiogenisis just as an honest Christian, Muslim, Jew, Intelligent design theorist will admit they cannot prove the universe and life were created by God.

Your not taught hate and bigotry. Your not taught that killing is wrong except when its done in the lords name. Thats snakes are animals and not a reptilian apple salesman. That whales can act as motels for people named Jonah. That smacking a burnt dead rock dove off your house can cure leprosy.
Thank God I am an Atheist.

That is more than I can say for the 'moral majority' as they are self-proclaimed... lol

can christianity offer those? i think not
but then again, they're both imaginary... so people might as well believe in flying ponies over the rainbow

christianity offers EXACTLY THE SAME as atheism apart from christianity has the added bonus of people being able to do terrible things in the name of their god.

answer is nothing, in positives they are equal.
atheism scientifically advances the human race for our survival.

why are believers always focusing on some kind of reward later on? do you really think you are ALWAYS entitled to receive some kind of "present?" what is with the selfishness? just live a decent life, & treat people nice WITHOUT expecting some kind of recognition or gift in return. do you realize how childish that sounds? i'll never understand why being a good person on your own is not good enough, you have to have a "god" tell you what to do & it has to involve some kind of "gift." sickening...
belladonna4577 8 months ago

Continued in comment below.
x60mmx 9 months ago
@x60mmx Accepting that God is very real and very engaged in our lives but also demanding that we respect him as the one true God how can this gap be reasoned? Does it posit that God finds far more religions and their ways of worshipping God acceptable than we'd like to think/have been told? Does it mean that he left humans without knowledge of their true God for quite some time? Looking forward to your response and I hope you have a great day! :)

What does Atheism offer? Reality. What does a disbelief is ghosts offer? Reality. What does a disbelief is big foot offer? Reality.
What does Reality offer? Now that is a much better question.

its so naive to even talk about something like that.. why would you even say that?

PaulinaPaulino 11 months ago
@PaulinaPaulino You make a good point but think about this. If you asked a Muslim if what they believe is the only truth, aren't they gonna say ya, it is? Even Atheists, even though it's not a religion, believe strongly in what they do. If you're believe in something you should believe it's the truth, otherwise there is no point in fighting for it.
TokyoDiimond 10 months ago
@TokyoDiimond I do not "strongly believe in what I do" based upon a book written 1700 years ago when the combined knowledge of the authors was that the Universe, which was 6000 years old and consisted of little fires in the sky, revolved around the earth, which was flat.
Now, show me the part of the Bible, or Koran, or any other holy book, that explains how the sun is powered by nuclear fusion and I will look at it differently.
I "believe strongly" because everything I claim I can PROVE.

tonycatman 1 year ago
Atheism isn't even a religion, so why are you comparing it with a religion? Atheism is just a word for 'I don't buy into any religion'. Actually atheism doesn't offer anything so you're right. But it doesn't have to offer anything. It just an attitude in life based on science. And I think it's science which offers you many things. Also religion doesn't have a monopoly on morality. It doesn't have a monopoly on love and friendship either. Religion offers you a story from an old book, nothing more
dutchbb1979 1 year ago
@dutchbb1979
Yes, atheism is a religion. You worship science, you place yourself as a god. Biblical Christianity isn't a religion, it is a relationship with God.
1776iscoming 1 year ago
@1776iscoming correction, it is a relationship with your belief in God, for instance I believe there is a god I feel that there is a higher intelligence, yet I refuse to find a connection to him in any book, I have always felt from a young age that the books are simply a tool to get humanity to act and behave in a certain way, so ihave a relationship with my belief in god without the book, do you see the difference?
jalidav1 1 year ago
@jalidav1
1776iscoming 1 year ago
@1776iscoming With respect to the idols and false prophets thing, when you go to church do you or do you not bow before statue of christ? Do catholics not bow before statues of Mary? These figures/entities whatever you want to call them are placed on church walls, stain glass windows and the like, if it is the bible you follow, it clearly states that you should not make images of god and/or bow before and pray to them yet churches all over the world cast this fact aside, why?
jalidav1 1 year ago
@jalidav1
1776iscoming 1 year ago
@1776iscoming But the cross is the same thing bro, it is still an idol or a depiction of God which has always been forbidden, I also struggle to find the loving god in the bible, there was no love when God tricked Abraham into sacrificing his 1st born and where was the forgiveness when he sent the plagues? or killed all the first born of those who didn't paint the door with lambs blood? The story of Noah is a story of pure unloving genocide, although i accept god, i cannot accept this depiction
jalidav1 1 year ago
@jalidav1
1776iscoming 1 year ago
@1776iscoming First you need to educate yourself about what a religion is, ATM you clearly don't understand that aspect. Therefore my advice to you is to read, read, and then read some more. And BTW a relationship with a myth isn't a relationship but is called insanity.

OutOfTheBoxThinker 1 year ago
Atheism offers a view on life and the universe based on REASON and EVIDENCE. To an atheist, it doesn't matter what is possible but only what is proven and makes sense logically. Atheists are aitheists because the Biblical God can easily be disproven and the proof of any other higher intelligence is lacking.
OutOfTheBoxThinker 1 year ago
Lol I hope my comment here isn't too redundant as I hardly had time to read all those before mine. While believing in something that isn't true won't necessarily affect your life in any major way, belief in god usually does. It creates (usually) a system of values and judgements that are born out of a falsehood. By removing the belief in a falsehood (god) the non-believer has a chance to perceive reality as it exists. Hope that was helpful. :)
rockmcswellin 1 year ago
Here's what Atheism offers and what it did for me. As the son of a pastor, Christianity left me with more questions than answers. So for the last 30 years Ive studied religion and it's history.
Once I realized that all religion, including xtianity, is a load of crap, I felt a freedom that I never felt before. My mind was free from the chains of mental slavery that your religion brought.
I felt born again in a sense. Today I am a much happier person who is at peace in my life.
MrTruthAddict 1 year ago
Atheism asserts nothing. You have no evidence that your sky daddy exists. Until you come up with some, then YOU shouldnt be asserting that this entity exists.
MrTruthAddict 1 year ago
You are using an incorrect definition of atheism. Atheism is inherently without assertion. It is not the active disbelief in the existence of any God, by definition (although there are atheists who would make that assertion). Atheism is purely the lack of a belief in any god. The difference is, if you could provide conclusive evidence of God to an atheist, he/she would likely convert. If you provided conclusive evidence against God to a Christian, you would get denial and circular arguments.

What does Atheism has to offer? That is a ridiculous question.
Killjeser 1 year ago
I'm not sure what "blaring inconsistency" you're referring to. That being said, all I can say is that the belief in god--strictly speaking--is not an "imaginary belief". It is a real, full fledged belief about something which doesn't exist. Atheists don't claim that beliefs in god don't exist ... they just don't share those particular beliefs. I don't see a problem there.
AWASHA 1 year ago
Atheism isn't an assertion of anything . Atheism is simply a lack of the blind belief in a god which is claimed by some people to exist without any real evidence.
Misrepresenting a non-acceptance of your devoutly held blind faith, isn't going to validate it for you in any way really.....now is it?

Hmm, what does atheism have to offer?
1. Live your life by the rules of the law and not the add-ons that the bible/Quran/whatever other book says you can not do
2. Freed from the mind control of religion
3. Not having to waste your time going to church on Sundays
4. Have the ability to actually search for the truth in things
5. To never take life for granted because literally any moment could be your last (I say last because you guys think your going to heaven)

Atheism offers nothing but the freedom to question the world openly, to come to terms with the realities of our situation on this earth and make the best use of our time here. Hell, if you have an eternity to chill in Paradise, what difference does 60 years on Earth matter?
