I think that all those comment left on this girls wall where innapropriate because there were causing damages. It wasn'ta joke but a public discrimination and defamation. I don't think that the right of free expression allow you o publish such of things.
I understand that on facebook everyone has the right to express their own opinion. I feel though that the line between what is acceptable and what isnt is very fine.
I personally dont mind if a facebook user states that they do not agree with a certain lifestyle but if the tone is aggressive and abusive or they are singling out and bullying people of that lifestyle then i think that is the time when someone needs to step in.
I don't think many people do know about that policy, not many people people read the terms and conditions as it just boring and mundane. Have you been in contact with facebook?
that was a really awesome video....it exposes the mentality of people not just the lack of security/privacy and any policy to the homophobia on facebook...
Facebook does have a policy against hate speech, its on their terms and conditions - but i believe only a small majority of its users are aware of it... your right though, facebook should have stronger security against hate speech... instead of cases such as within my short documentary leading to the victim deleting their facebook account. Really informative video exposing the darker side to facebook and some users. Personally i believe that everyone has a right to express their opinions tastefully however not to the expense of other people's feelings.
