  • :( I hate diesels! Steam trains are awesome!

  • WCRC coaches are dual braked, so the diesel is not there for braking!

  • I went on it to Scarborough =D

    It was a great day!

  • wy is there a diesel engine at end?

  • To help power the electricity on the train. The steamer is doing all the work while the diesel powers electricity for the lights, and all the other electrical parts of the train. It is not uncommon for Diesel to do this kind of job, even in the United States and Canada, there are diesels that couple along with the steamers to power the electricity.

  • tyvm

  • @Chris9017 or Diesels with Diesels... GO used old rebuilt F7Bs to supply power to trains while a GP40-2W pulled/pushed.

  • were is she cept

  • Carnforth I think

  • @ShaurntheSheep NRM at York!

  • I meant to say the vacuum braking that Olton Hall has - the stock is air-braked (blows instead of sucks)

  • I think you'll find that the diseasal was just there for braking - modern stock doesn't have the vacuum braking that modern coaches have... I think it's laudible that Olton Hall was able to pull the stock and 100 tons of deadweight on the back too...

  • Spose they had to strap the 'peake' to the back for insurance!

  • Magnificent - dare I even say, 'magical' XD
