When I try to export songs from the 800 to my computer, although we've recorded some 20 songs on the 800, when I go to the "sketch" folder, it claims the folder is empty. I also have the 600, and all you have to do with that is go to USB mode, select what you want to do, and go. Of course, the trblshooting chart doesn't address this. The manual says nothing about how to get songs to the "sketch" folder. Suggestions? Thanks.
You must record in 'sketch' mode in order to have songs stored in that folder. Sketch mode recording is just a 'fast' mode fro recording. Say you have a guitar riff or lyric that you want to record very fast, than use 'sketch'. Now to export the tracks via USB, use the free BOSS BR Wave Converter software with either the BR-800 or an external card reader.
when I export a song i've made it exports it as all the different tracks separate from each other. why doesnt is combine all of them and export it as one file. also why doesnt the rhtyhm get exported with the rest of the tracks ?
Hi, thanks for this upload. But I have one question: Is there no quality loose if you export wave files through the wave converter? And why does it have to convert? Does Boss not record your audio into wave files on the card?
BOSS uses a proprietary software for recording the tracks to the card, there's no lost of sonic quality using the converter that I can hear. Search here on YT for my music videos and you can hear for yourself.
Loved the tutorial on importing/exporting WAV files with BR-800. How did you turn the WAV file (on the SD card) into an MP3 on your laptop? You just said you had downloaded it to your laptop and it was on the desktop as an MP3. Looking for some help. Thanks!
Once I download a MP3 file, I use the free Audacity audio editor to convert the MP3 to Wav format, save to my Desktop. Once I've done that, I will turn on my BR-800, create a new song, name the song, turn-off the BR-800 & take out the SD card. I'll than place the SD card in my notebook's card reader, open the BR Wave Converter software, use the 'Import' feature, point the import to the Wav file to the 'new' song I created. I always import to tracks 5/6 so I have a stereo file.
Oh, I have used the USB, it's just that it was faster using the card reader. You can buy a external USB card reader for about $25 any where, but did you install the BR-800's software from the DVD. if you didn't that may be your problem with the USB.
I enjoyed this tutorial! I wish I had a friend with your knowledge and spirit close by so I can learn this stuff. I'm an older guy new to this, I bought the BR-800 and now I'm wishing I had stayed with my cassette recorder! You are helping a lot of folks, this doesn't come easy to all and the manuals are not great. Thanks again.
I'm probably older than you! I started recording back in the '90s with a Fostex X-14, 4tr cassette recorder, and I can't see me ever going back to a cassette recorder. As far as using a computer along with the BR-800, that's a small learning curve, the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
I appears that many of the functions are universal between the br864 and the br800 however I can not find any tutorial video for the br864. Did you ever produce any for the 864 and if yes are they still on line?
No, I didn't...I had a BR-8, and later got a BR-1600, than I got a BR-600, and now the BR-800. I only started doing these tutorials because a friend is dyspeptic and had trouble reading the manual.

You didn't use the 'Mastering' feature which would combine the tracks in a stereo pair. Please read starting on pg 112 of the manual on Mastering.

I see you don't use BR-800 USB interface to access the card.
I've been having problems with that USB interface. A pity my PC doesn't have a card reader of its own.
Nice videos man, explains a lot better than the manuals. Thank you.
