Android has really good YouTube app but YouTube is just one web page owned by Google itself. So maybe you should have tested some other page like Metacafe or something what's not owned by Google. Then it would show which is really better on browsing videos from internet. Btw you could also use real PC version page with the N8. This is good vs.review but showing Google websites on device with Google o.s doesn't make sense.
I don't think that that's the official YouTube app for symbian^3! And while Desire loads only the video N8 loads comments, description, some buttons and a flash-player in the browser so of course it's going to be slower... Youtube app for S60 was a shit until they made a new app that's great...

One of the under-rated things about the N8 is having a built in FM transmitter. Doesn't sound a lot, but think about it, You can stream off youtube straight through your car stereo... That is the future. Futhermore, I can go two days with wifi and 3g turned on and searching and the batter will only just fail on me. Android is a one day jobby. Be prepared to take your charger with you when you go away.
Nokia needs to do something, i had 4 N8's within a month which all had problems, and after 2 hours on the phone to orange they finally sent me the Desire HD which works like a dream, ill never buy nokia after that experience . the only good thing about the N8 is the camera its incredible! but hey if you want a camera u buy one!
the only point android user can show against symbian is that the UI looks outdated. that's it? tell me one thing that an android OS can do but symbian cannot (forget about how it looks I'm talking about functions here). Symbian may lag a bit (which is fixed in s^3) but android still couldn't fix the battery draining problem.

@ReviewsWOOT if you didn't know, softwares can be updated. Nokia has promised to work on the symbian OS and release updates. soon there is coming an update, which will fix the delay on swiching the homescreens. I prefer symbian, because it's familiar, and of course I prefer Nokia, because it's Finnish. If 1 or 2 seconds matter so much in your about ~80+ years life, then you really should stop using anything...
You can see in comments how new thing the smartphones are. They are so new that people still think that there can be only one THE smartphoen OS or THE smartphone. Nobody however says for example that there are only one car that is up to date. There are different cars for different needs. Desire looks awesome but N8 suits my needs better. For me FM transmitter to car stereo and awesome camera are the most important things. Web surfing or games not so much.
This comparison is not fair enough, especially, you turn on the videos not simultaneously, there are time differences so, we cannot compare the same pictures at a time.
According to me, HTC Desire is kind of rigid toys and the design is really bad (this design is suitable for young girls to play the phone with barbie). While Nokia N8 is kind of Solid metalic real smartphone which is the design is really elegant.

even with some of Nokia N8s advantages, (well Desire has some advantages on the N8 too) the Desire just craps all over that thing... im sorry to say. I was a nokia user since the beginning. Like since 5110 days lol. I was fiercely loyal customer and my last unit was e72. everything changed last year when i tried a samsung galaxy s. oh boy android made me realized that symbian got left behind. things you can do with android are incredible. hope nokia catches up soon. i dont think windows 7 will the job because htc androids sell better than htc windows 6.5. same thing with LG and Samsung
If Nokia had Android, it would have been much better…Symbian looks SOO dated…but, if the Desire had the HDMI port, the 12MP camera and the build quality of the Nokia, then it could easily be a REALLY kick-ass phone…Nokia needs to drop Symbian ASAP

Not sure how I feel about that considering I like WP7 but don't think it would help Microsoft to be exclusively tied to one manufacturer. However considering Nokia still has significant market share globally, it could be beneficial. At the same time, I'm curious as to what Meego will be as a final product. I don't think Nokia has spent billions creating the OS just to scrap it at the 11th hour.

Try going to Nokia Care for service when your N8 frustrates you. The compare with HTC's service. After a year, the Nokia N8 battery replacement cost will come back to hound you. Ask any dealers that!
@meizerhans, Actually, the battery is easy to change out with only two screws. It's a standfard 1200Mah battery available at the Nokia store or even Amazon.com. The battery slides out once the lower cover is removed with the two screws. Very simple. Doing this alone will not void the warranty, as long as the OEM battery is used.
Too all those people that bash Nokia's OS symbian, it's definitely more reliable than android. With an OS like symbian, you can rely on your battery life to last you for about 2 to 3 days unlike android killing your battery within a few hrs. What's the point of having a battery toll software like android with average/mediocre hardware like HTC when your battery dies quickly? It's pointless.
Plus Nokia is stepping up their software game with Symbian 3 and Meego. Nokia is still #1 in the world.

And while HTC users can watch videos only from Youtube while N8 users can watch videos from any website. :)
Another thing... in the end of the video, you can see that N8's battery is still full and HTC's not! :)

You can see in comments how new thing the smartphones are. They are so new that people still think that there can be only one THE smartphoen OS or THE smartphone. Nobody however says for example that there are only one car that is up to date. There are different cars for different needs. Desire looks awesome but N8 suits my needs better. For me FM transmitter to car stereo and awesome camera are the most important things. Web surfing or games not so much.

This comparison is not fair enough, especially, you turn on the videos not simultaneously, there are time differences so, we cannot compare the same pictures at a time.
According to me, HTC Desire is kind of rigid toys and the design is really bad (this design is suitable for young girls to play the phone with barbie). While Nokia N8 is kind of Solid metalic real smartphone which is the design is really elegant.
*I love Nokia, but it's the truth, HTC is worse than Nokia this time. I don't lie

even with some of Nokia N8s advantages, (well Desire has some advantages on the N8 too) the Desire just craps all over that thing... im sorry to say. Android is so much better than Symbian, you cant really even argue.... symbian just feels so... outdated... my non-smartphone can do everything symbian can do...

I was a nokia user since the beginning. Like since 5110 days lol. I was fiercely loyal customer and my last unit was e72. everything changed last year when i tried a samsung galaxy s. oh boy android made me realized that symbian got left behind. things you can do with android are incredible. hope nokia catches up soon. i dont think windows 7 will the job because htc androids sell better than htc windows 6.5. same thing with LG and Samsung

If Nokia had Android, it would have been much better…Symbian looks SOO dated…but, if the Desire had the HDMI port, the 12MP camera and the build quality of the Nokia, then it could easily be a REALLY kick-ass phone…Nokia needs to drop Symbian ASAP

@DvdXploitr Looks like they may have an exclusive marriage with Microsoft and Windows Phone 7. Not sure how I feel about that considering I like WP7 but don't think it would help Microsoft to be exclusively tied to one manufacturer. However considering Nokia still has significant market share globally, it could be beneficial. At the same time, I'm curious as to what Meego will be as a final product. I don't think Nokia has spent billions creating the OS just to scrap it at the 11th hour.

@krazygreen honestly, i had no idea that Symbian was ranked #2 in users, even over iOS…I just googled it…I just know that almost everyone I know is on Android, iPhone or Blackberry…I was shocked to see Symbian as #2…I rarely see anything on Engadget, TV, Hulu, or billboards advertising Nokia/Symbian…its all iPhone, HTC and Blackberry it seemed…..however, I do think the Symbian OS looks a bit dated….

I Have A N8, Pretty Good Phone :) The OS is Up To Date In Terms Of Features, Very Few Phones Can Match It When It Comes To Built-In Features But The OS Just LOOKS Dated....Symbian Is Like Android And Looks Can Change.

Sure the hardware of the N8 is impressive. But the software is terrible.
Also, most of Nokia's market share is for dumbphones.
Lastly, if the Nokia/Symbian partnership is so great, why have so many top Nokia executives been removed? Why is Nokia's market share for smartphones slipping? Why was Symbian^4 scrapped at the last minute? Why has the Symbian Foundation been reduced to only a licensing body? Why has Nokia announced that future N series flagship phones will have Meego and not Symbian?

Nokia is the biggest phone manufacturer in the world. Symbian is the most used OS in the world at 40%, bigger than all the others put together. 18% for Android and 15% for iOS (iPhone) and 5% for Win7.
I use a HTC Desire. But the N8 is an impressive piece of kit.

Try going to Nokia Care for service when your N8 frustrates you. The compare with HTC's service. After a year, the Nokia N8 battery replacement cost will come back to hound you. Ask any dealers that!

@meizerhans, Actually, the battery is easy to change out with only two screws. It's a standfard 1200Mah battery available at the Nokia store or even Amazon.com. The battery slides out once the lower cover is removed with the two screws. Very simple. Doing this alone will not void the warranty, as long as the OEM battery is used.

Too all those people that bash Nokia's OS symbian, it's definitely more reliable than android. With an OS like symbian, you can rely on your battery life to last you for about 2 to 3 days unlike android killing your battery within a few hrs. What's the point of having a battery toll software like android with average/mediocre hardware like HTC when your battery dies quickly? It's pointless.
Plus Nokia is stepping up their software game with Symbian 3 and Meego. Nokia is still #1 in the world.
