  • How long can you keep a fire going in your stove without adding more wood?

  • @lkjhz99 With this small stove, only about 30 minutes.

  • \that is a genius money saving tent idea. i will remember if i never need it.

dont get insulted, this tape can save some one's life. it is simple. just have tarps in your car, you should be fine on the road, great idea. thank you, if i need stay outside, i will remember you. thanks. ingenius.

  • How well does that stove heat your shelter?

  • @mrlonely199 This stove kept is warm enough to be in a tshirt

  • how big is the fuel can you made the stove out of ?

  • @Christopher711 It is a 1 gallon can

  • stove sort of small you have to keep putting twigs in it to keep it going i thing something at least you can get bigger chunks of wood in it at least

  • want have bag out bag and some information web page ok

    write at spiritwild09@hotmail.com

  • how do you run it outside without melting the tarp

  • That slide show - tell all was great. I was trying to figure out your doors but then you showed it very nicely with pictures. Really cool on the home made stove and nice demo of the fact that you don't need a $1500 canvas specialty tent to do this kind of thing. Like always, your videos and tell-alls are very inspiring IA!

  • It seems like the sides could collapses if it snowed heavy other then that it looks cozy .Whats with the army sleep system you mentioned and whats the advantages

  • @aergwetghwrhwdhg The sleep system has 3 parts an it is very easy to adjust yor sleeping system the the temp or weather conditions.

  • Ever try a light weight cot ? .

  • Next time on, This Old House.....

  • uuummmm... if it rains, it will probably go through. Thats a comfortable little camp....besides the rain problem

  • this one is just as nice as your new one.

  • Nice shelter though, and ur stove , u know how to make look comfy! Bless u!

  • You do not have to live like this in the winter. There are shelters, and if u get disability u can get a low income apt. People do not have to live this way !! May God Bless!

  • @ladycharsw Don't have to live like what? Who the heck are you to be so judgemental of anybody's choices?? It may be hard for you to understand, but there are folks who would not live in a shelter or take other government handouts/subsidies. Besides, this camp setup looks much nicer and homier than any low income apartment, So please don't impose your elitist values on other's choices!

  • very nice vid THX much

  • I know this has been asked already, but...

Did the stove end up working out? Was it too small for the space? If it did work ok, could you post a quick video showing the construction?

  • @tommyskommy It worked OK. I made a different one. i am going to be modding an old canvas tent and showing the setup in the future

  • Next time, use Ammo Case from Surplus store. It's already connected with hinges. just a 2 cent from me.

  • great vid! whenever you have time can you do a close up on that maxpedition pack and the gear you have in it..i really love that pack set up though

  • Its generally bad juju to burn anything in an enclosed space. With no provision for exhaust a set up like this could result in lethal carbon monoxide poisoning (like running a car in a closed garage.) Especially bad considering that this tent is made out of plastic. Appears that it may be drafty enough to get some fresh air but still a bad idea in general. Even plastic tents with nothing being burned inside can present a hazard.

  • how did u make that can u make a step by step video im talking about the heater/stove

  • I like the gortex bivy. I modified mine by sewing a loop on the hood so I can pull it off my face by tieing it to a tree branch above my head giveing me more space and more air to breath.

  • I suggest getting a ground tarp for your set up

  • idea for your stove try a old metal mail box. ive used them for baking stoves

  • so iam gessing the stove was to small for the space?????

  • Looks snugg, but one thing, did i see glowing aluminum? I believe that stuff emmits toxins when heated, and it sure smells funny if heated, i would go with a steel pipe for sure! Correct me if im mistaking!

  • show how to make the stove in the ground out of metal tool box or ammo box please write back in your in the ohio are then go to bruswick school huntington

  • great inprof ,thabks for sharing

  • Thanks so much for sharing your skills. It really helps when someone can teach others about this kind of stuff, and know what they are doing :)

  • I love your stove design. realy nice...

  • I came across something pretty cool at the hardware store recently. They are zippers with tape attached designed for construction or painting. You stick them to the tarp then cut the tarp. It'll give you a better entry!! Great Shelter!

  • well im sold subing now. great job on the shelter.

  • thanks for the slideshow at the end of the vid, made it all worthwhile...

  • I did make a stove from a 6" pipe tee, a 90 elbow and 2 metal coffee cans and can opener that takes the rim off. 5.5 pounds.

  • Very good and practical video! Loved it!

  • Thats a cool shelter. I like the stove. Looking forward to your new video ideas.

  • I like your vid's, very informative. Thanks for your time!

  • Terry I have a video idea request..... on clothing, different and preferred materials for different temps/environment, layers, socks/boots. Cheers.

  • Nice shelter, and stove. I love my military sleep system, its extremely versatile.

  • Good to see you back mate, classy shelter. Al.

  • Thanks for sharing. Nice shelter and system! 5*

  • Great video. Nice easy to understand style. Are you using a groundsheet under the leaves, can lose lot of heat into ground? Very inventive with the stove. Our native people here have a form of cooking called hangi where they heat stones in a fire and then bury them in ground with food wrapped in leaves or tinfoil to cook/steam the food, might interest you.

  • Dig it. Notice it had a name change. Heh.

    Iz

  • There are 5 gal. metal buckets that have crimped on lids that will work out great for a stove.

  • Nice! How about an Ammo Box Stove?

  • @n9hxv1986 Thought about that, but it is a little heavy.

  • Excellent. I've also been experimenting with tarp shelters, although I have to admit I'm thinking of trying out the more expensive nylon tarps as the plastic ones are very loud and somewhat heavy. I just uploaded a video titled "My Winter Shelter". Come tell me what you think! Keep up the good work Peace.

  • @StealthCamping Will do

  • I posted this video on WRH. It should get you another 1 to 2k views on it. Again, great job on it! -John

  • @johnu78 I hate to sound ignorant ,but..... what is WRH?? Thanks

  • @iawoodsman

It's a high traffic site, the name of it is what really happened dot com (no spaces)

  • I suspect that shelter would not deal with a heavy snowfall or a strong wind in a desirable way. It will be interesting to see what develops when a heavy snowfall or strong wind occurs. Nice dog.

  • Wind can be a problem for that shape. Nothing worse than your shelter getting blown apart in the middle of a rainy night. Tee Pee cheats the wind.

  • thanx for sharing that!...great to see you up and about!

  • Glad you're back. Nice dog. Looking forward to the Yukon pack vid. Merry Christmas.

  • Cool beans...looking forward to the new vids.

  • Welcome back, really missed you... Nice vid, I´m also thinking about some kind of stove system. Keep up the good work!

  • i have also think about stoves, they need less fuel, .

  • That shelter rocks look forward to the improved wood stove

  • Nice job! Thanks for sharing.

  • A 50 cal ammo can works pretty good as a stove as well for small shelters, but check out Freddes video on a homemade fireplace and shelter. That has worked out well for me here in the Adirondacks, and because it is not a permanent structure, it is legal to set up on state land.

  • @mem7048

Where's this video you speak of? Let me know. Thanks, John

  • @mem7048 I would love to do a rock fireplace, not many suitable rock in my part of IA

  • Looks nice and warm. The use of a white tarp make a big difference on the inside.

Look forward to more vids !

  • great video. i wish i had some land to do the same. I love the outdoors. Look forward to your next video!! Sleep well!

  • you can thank the bankers and the congress for not having a job or home

  • @ufowatcher87 That was a good one, I LOL

  • Nice setup. Interested in how you insulated or got the stove pipe out through the tarp. Also you can use 3" pipe and/or 2 1/2 pipe that you can get at auto parts store for exhaust pipes. Might be a little heavy and/or more expensive, just some ideas I myself have not tried yet! good to see ya back!

  • @Edzherenow99 I used a piece of flashing wit an X cut in it then snare wired it to a pole

  • Never forgotten - always a great presentation - thanks!

  • Welcome back! Cool stove idea. Keep the videos coming. ~Les

  • Great shelter... What was the size of the main tarp?

  • @fatbob1950 2 10'x10' pieces of plastic sheeting

  • I think your stove is pulling in as much cold air in as it is pushing air out. Try running a cold air pipe from outside directly to the intake of stove. Otherwise, you are making a draft of cold air into your tent as replacement air.

  • Nice.

  • nice work, upcoming videos sound great, take care

  • Very useful vid, thanks for posting it.

    Looking forward to seeing more.

  • Very interested in that sleep system. I'm wanting to put something together by Spring.

  • Good to see you back. Sounds like a great lineup of vids.

  • The boy scouts had a design for a stove made from a gallon oil can. Unfortunately the local library has a habit of disposing of the most useful of books. The small book was probably late 1970's and had many ways of cooking/heating shown in it.

  • Looks great. How would you compare this shelter to your thermal A-Frame? Definitely a vid on your portable stove build would be excellent.

    Nate

  • @CdnLifeguard71 a thermal A would be more important if you had a crappy bag.

  • See if you can find a hieni keg, the mini keg...they work good for the stoves

  • great shelter. and good idea with that colmen fuel tin can.

  • What brand name is the cup you got? I got a ranger canteen cup thats got some kind of sandpaper texturing on it, and Im pretty sure that s*** made me sick when cooked with it.

  • @airboy90 Nesters brand

  • Whats the dimensions on the tarps?

  • Awhile? P-Sha, a half decade. jk. Nice vid

  • Coolness. Good to see ya posting vids again.

  • Thanks man!

  • Great design, thanks for sharing!

  • Good job. A how to video on how to make the stove would be great, how warm it gets, how big of a shelter will it heat to sleep comfortably etc...

  • awsome!!! a good nice slide musicwould be perfect

  • ever thought of useing an ammo can ?

  • Excellent!

  • Great vid. Need that shelter here today high of 3 above with the wind. Thanks Terry.

    niapete

  • Great video. How did you make that stove?

  • nice shelter!
